Easy to Build Shed Ramp

This week we build a ramp. I have been wanting this for a long time so that I could easily take things outside such as the table saw, air compressor, or any other big tools. This was easy to build and costs roughly $50 including the hardware.

Great job. Out of all the videos that I've seen for building a ramp I think I'm going to go with this one. I'm having a 10 x 20 ft building placed on to the base in my backyard tomorrow morning and I need to get a ramp going because I have a 46 in zero turn lawn mower.

Great video, there are a million ways to build a ramp I did mine a little different but they all work. The one thing I did maybe you should consider is instead of stain paint the ramp with a grit paint. I added coarse sand in some black paint. Before I painted mine it was slick as owl $-&# when it got wet the grit did the trick

Thanks, Tim. I've seen about 6 videos on ramp building and yours wins. I've got a little gravel I'm going to use for the ends that touch the ground, I'll get some cement pads for the joist ends and set them in the gravel first and then do it like you did.

This ramp would probably work for just walking in and out of the shed. But not sure I would want to put any amount of weight on it due to the angle at the bottom of the ramp.

It will sure make it easier to roll your tools outside without that step. Maybe easier for your old relatives to get in and out also. That might be me. Good job.

I did notice that you simply took a wild guess and eyeballed what angle you were going to try for your support beams. I wonder if there is a formula for calculating this so that we can be precise?

I believe if you use the rule of sins for calculating triangles that you could get the exact angles. The one on the ground/shed is of course a 90 degree angle which is helpful and then you need to find the length and height you want. I'm not a math teacher though haha.

can i use 1 inch plywood for the top of my ramp?

I wouldn't recommend it. Plywood tends to separate when it get wet. May not happen in the first year, but eventually you would have to replace it

Only two things I would've done different is using lag screws instead of deck screws for the ledger and placing pavers underneath the joists, but there's always critics......no matter what you do.

Possibly just a simple box style. I like the ramp so that I can wheel stuff in and out easily and also not worry about the kids tripping.

Your work is good but that camera needs to be on a tripod. That's way too much motion.
