She has the rhythm of a professional drummer, the showmanship of Liberace, and the keyboard chops of a professional organist.

I’ve yet to see anyone else who could move his/her fingers on the keyboards as fast as Ethel Smith could. Truly one of a kind!

The only one I know that would even come close is Cameron Carpenter, except his speed is in the pedals.

The fuss was there was no audio when we all commented. I'm glad someone listened and the audio was restored. Copyrights are for protection, but when the organ is stopped from being heard everyone loses. Ethel Smith did a lot to bring the great Hammond organ in to the public eye. It was because of her excellent abilities that the organ became as popular as it did. At one time the organ was like the home computer and everyone seemed to be buying one. The Hammond models were built to last forever!

The sad thing is,if she was on what we nowadays call a 'talent' show she would be laughed off as a weirdo despite being amazingly talented and far superior to the X factor, got talent,Voice type crap.I'm glad there's video of Supreme people like this or I'd go crazy.

There was a great version of Tico Tico played by Ethel Smith from a movie that was posted last year. It got taken down due to some copy write issue. I've seen the one with Bob Hope and the one with the young ladies backing her up in MGM's "bathing beauties", but I believe it was a different version with the Bando Carioca. I think that was the best version of Tico TIco she did. Too bad we can't see it anymore.

@youtube get this authorized please. The organ as we know it is a dying art form and the music instrument world needs a boost! Every day organs are posted for pennies on the dollar compared to their original prices. If people don't buy them many go to the dump. The Hammond and Wurlitzer electromechanical organs built between 1934 and 1975 were built with so much skill and quality materials that they can last for hundreds of years with regular maintenance and capacitor replacement every 30 years.

@@hunkydorian Is that somehow linked to musical ability? I prefer the ones who focus on their musical expression. Barbara Dennerlein is absolutely world class.
