I have not yet applied a top coat, but the black acrylic paint easily rubs off the smooth plastic. Does the top coat "lock" it in or should there be a matte coat and then the acrylic?
@BoundByGundams5 жыл бұрын
Jeff Hill the top coat with lock it in. That’s the point of top coat. Be sure to let the black paint completely dry. If you can rub it off then it’s probably not dry

Great video! I am working on a WH40k Riptide. If my base/main colors are reds, would you still chip with a metallic? I am thinking a bit darker/dirtier metallic. My other question: how would you streak on deep/dark red? Any particular color you might suggest?
@BoundByGundams5 жыл бұрын
TheMeanDM you can still use silver with red. I would suggest a lighter silver. As for streaking on dark colors, it’s going to be very subtle. You’re not going to get the same pop from streaking on lighter colors. You can use a lighter brown or reddish brown wash to create the streaks.

Wow! Amazing tutorial! Loved it. So recently I painted the Bandai's Gipsy from Pacific Rim. I am really confused about what medium to use for weathering. My workflow - Tamiya acrylics > Tamiya gloss coat > Stickers/Water Decals > Tamiya Panel Lining > weathering using Tamiya enamel silver & Tamiya weathering kit > Gloss coat again. Will that work? I had to panel line very carefully, tried not to over spill because I was scared to use X-20 to wipe the excess panel lines, will tamiya enamel thinner X-20 wipe the acrylic base coat if it is used to wipe panel lines?
@jigarpatel76 жыл бұрын
@@BoundByGundams Thank you for the tip. Yeah, I was really careful with the panel lining, solely because I had a base coat on and the metallic midnight blue shade was hard to make with the shades I have. I have been holding back on weathering the kit since the past two months. Will give it a go.

This rusting is way too much for a Gundam. Maybe it could work with a Barbatos from IBO because those Gundams literally live in junk yards but most Gundam some slight scratched edges are enough because they don't rust to this extend. They have super Armor, force fields or super metal alloys that don't rust.
