Another thing to note, they did make sniper rifles with HEX receiver mosins but they were not PU rifles, they were PE rifles. Which if you have an authentic PE rifle it's way more scarce and valuable than a PU.

I always thought if the scope won't hold zero, it's probably original

I’ve got the plugged scope holes and the shims as well as part of the scopes serial number on the receiver

That's a whole lot of stamping on that PU.

Excelent info. Just bought 1942 izzy. Just waiting to see all the markings if real or not. Did not pay a bunch so if not real still a nice looking rifle
@paulramsey56952 жыл бұрын
I've got a 44 izzy that has been turned into a clone but it was done right pretty accurate as far as mosins go

I have the option between an izy and a tula pu sniper. Does it matter what one I choose? I am leaning towards the tula pu

Local shop is selling one for 999. Round receiver dated 1942 but import mark says C.A.I. What do you think?
@BigSamMosinMuseum Жыл бұрын
Over 95% of 1942 PU Snipers are reproductions, I would keep looking unless you are ok with a cheaper reproduction

Is there a difference in performance tho between real and fake ?
@BigSamMosinMuseum3 жыл бұрын
It depends! You will see very mixed results with fakes, you may get one that shoots good, or one that is poor. Real ones can be expected to be more consistently on the good side. Also, fakes tend to not have their mounts aligned properly, so in order to get them to shoot point of aim, the reticle may have to be moved way over to one side in order to compensate!

@soudadmaouas7058 Жыл бұрын
Even if they are fake the quieation is, does it shoot well, is it accurate. Still they are made in russia, is thw quality good, is there a bid difference when shotting them.
@crayolavet4433 Жыл бұрын
Well no. Shooting wise, it’s the exact same gun. The only difference between an infantry mosin and a PU sniper is the curved bolt and scope. The real difference is infantry mosins you can pick up for $300-$500. PU snipers on the other hand are going to run you $1000-$2000. They also made over 37 million regular infantry mosins but only 53 thousand PU snipers. That’s why they are so valuable.

Something that should have been added is Hex mosins were made before the war and were some of the best and most accurate mosins
