White vinegar would work as well if it's just a calcium buildup
@cavedman78706 жыл бұрын
Full Strength Vinegar works just as well as using CLR. Appropriate levels of Vinegar in your diet is a way to combat Kidney Stones, which are in most cases Calcium lumps. A good example is the school experiment of putting a whole raw egg in vinegar & watching the shell dissolve off it over a few days. Another good Tip is to always have a spare on hand, so when you are fixing one you still have one to use. Edit: fixed some spelling mistakes.

Yes great point about using vinegar and also about eating it (or using it regularly in one's diet) it makes sense that it cleanses our insides as well as being good for us in many other ways! Thanks for sharing your tips. Cheers :)

I mentioned it because people can make their own Vinegar, from the Plants they grow & thus it's just another way to be more self sufficient.
@thomdavis41426 жыл бұрын
Use the cheapest white vinegar to do this. It is very effective. To make it even more powerful add a little baking soda to the mix.

Also another quick tip if you don't want to go with the fancy sprayers. The old fashioned brass nozzles that look like a firehose and you twist to adjust, never break and never clog and last forever, you just don't have as many spray options with them, you will lose them before they wear out lol. Good vid, thanks Mark gg.

I have three of those and two don't pass water. That's how I find myself here. Any idea what could be done. I don't think I can unscrew the two halves the way I see in KZbin videos for Nysist nozzles.

You can also use vinegar, it just takes more time for the calc to dissolve.

I’ve used both CLR and vinegar, both with good results. The CLR is faster but, given time, I’m hoping to start making my own vinegar and distilling it to increase strength. Great video Mark! I always enjoy your take on self sufficiency! God bless you brother! You looked so depressed when it wasn’t working!😂😂❤️

Hi Mark, great tips as always thanks. I noticed your Amazon link to the Hoselink products is for the US Amazon site and they specifically say the product doesn't ship to Australia. If you are getting any click-through revenue by sharing the link, it may be useful to also include a link to the Aussie Hoselink site where you can buy direct from Hoselink. Keep the videos coming, they are very inspiring.

Hoselink is good, I saw them being used at Bunnings and thought I would look them up, the only downside is the hefty down payment, but in the end... if it lasts a long time in Bunnings Nursery then it would last a while in everyone's garden... but, Bunnings Nursery's are usually UV protected so there is that question of how long it lasts in direct full sun. So, the only reason why I haven't tried them is because of the hefty down payment
@edieboudreau96376 жыл бұрын
Another way is to soak in baking soda solution for an hour then submerge in white vinegar till bubbling stops rinse and check if necessary repeat with a longer time in the baking soda solution. ( 1 cup baking soda added to 2 cups boiling water and stir well till dissolved. Use hot or let cool- your choice)

Great video mark. Let me ask you a question how do you keep rain water from growing algae?
@Selfsufficientme6 жыл бұрын
We don't tend to get an algae problem Mari. I think the tank needs to be fully enclosed and not allow sunlight in at all plus no nutrients such as animal poop should be allowed to contaminate the water but honestly I don't know a lot about it. :)

The screws that hold them together do! And the cheap joins and rubber seals leak like an Asian fishing boat. 👍🙂
@ourfloridagarden41916 жыл бұрын
Oh Yes. I was going through one every six moths because I have the habit of letting the hose hit the ground and it would crack and I would always leave it where is lay. Meanwhile ants, the kid, the pets where all having their way with it. Knowing myself, I knew I wouldn’t change my wicked ways so I bought an expensive one to take all the abuse. I have had it for years.

Why have you changed the way you do things? Up until now you have been putting your content first and only asking for subscribes likes and patreon support at the end of your videos. I did not watch this video because I didn't like the way it started and I gave it a thumbs down. I might be the only person who feels this way but to me this was disappointing. And if you're going to do all your videos this way I will probably unsubscribe. I don't like the way people on youtube ask for likes, subscriptions and support on patreon before you even see what they have two show you (just my opinion).
