I like how Damiani's predictions were basically almost spot on. All new features, tons of new stuff, etc. After watching the direct, then going back to the pre-show, it's kinda crazy how close all of it was.

They said they are showing 2018 games and focusing on Smash. That is what they did. Nintendo do not rely on e3. They show games all year round. Only company to focus on this year and what I am playing soon and not showing the same game every year over and over because they blew everything too early. Sushi Striker, Mario Tennis, Octopath, world ends with you, Mario party, Pokemon, Smash, xenoblade/Rabbids/Splatoon expansions all exclusive and out within 6 months is pretty good if you ask me. Guess you cant please them all.

Problem is, they weren't going to be able to please everyone. They cannot show what they don't have, and Nintendo are quite picky about when to show projects in the works. I've people call the entire direct a failure because no Animal Crossing. I'm sitting here wondering when they announced a new one was in the works to look forward to seeing more of. It always amazes me when people slam a company for what they don't show. Square didn't mention FF7 remake, but I'm not slamming them for it cause I'm basing it on what they showed, and Nintendo did show other neat looking stuff. Yoshi maybe got pushed back, and Metroid Prime 4 was in PRE-DEVELOPMENT when that tease was shown, and let's be honest here, they only teased Prime 4 because until that tease the last Metroid ANYTHING they had was Federation Force, and we all know how well that went. Samus Returns wasn't shown until the treehouse stream later. That tease was to show the fans the game is coming. However if it isn't in a shape for Nintendo to show it off at e3 with, don't show it, we know it's coming and when it's revealed, it will be a grand showing. I ain't saying Nintendo couldn't at least MENTION them when Reggie was talking, but at least we saw stuff other than Smash. I'm a bit disappointed they didn't have a sizzle reel for the 3DS software they're making like Luigi's Mansion, but I'm not going to slam them on it. I got exactly what I was told I was gonna get. It makes me excited for the next direct in a couple months or so as to what they show then. That's the thing I like about Nintendo, I'm excited all year round for their announcements, for everyone else, it's JUST e3.

Wild Link 3 DLCs , 2 Party games , 1 (great) old scool RPG and 1 Smash bros port/sequel thing. Sry but no , for a console without third party Support this is realy bad. Also their had Fire Emblem and Demon X Machina 2 games for mid-end 2019. Edit: and The World is Ending is another Port from a DS and Smartphone Game but i bet Nintendo ask for full Price

Angel Sanz Correa Nintendo said that Prime 4 wasn’t ready for E3, they did want to show the game though so can’t blame Nintendo for that one Yoshi, however, I think was hold back because it was being revamped like Woolly World was (they made it better gameplay and graphic like) And Bayonetta 3 just wasn’t plain ready, we should’ve expected that one Plus, Plain Rocks (the same ones who ported Doom and Rocket League) said that there is another major port coming out this year for Switch And Reggie did address that they purposely held back some of their games from E3 because most of those games weren’t coming out this year (Bayonetta, Yoshi, and Metroid are examples) They said they are announcing those games in the upcoming weeks in a direct/event Plus, let’s be honest here, Smash and Pokemon are big sellers those two can carry Nintendo for right now I’m just glad we know Pokemon Switch, Yoshi, and Fire Emblem are coming in 2019

They still have a direct coming in September. Damn people need to take timeouts in the corner or something. Just because they didn't show what YOU wanted doesn't automatically make it terrible. Hell, I'm really excited for Super Mario Party - it actually looks good for the first time in 10 years, and that Fire Emblem game looks way better than the last few we've gotten. If they didn't show you what you wanted, you know what, that's okay, so this presentation maybe wasn't for you. You don't have to like it, but you have to just accept it. Seriously, I love gaming but there's no reason to be so emotionally invested in your own expectations.

Man... now I want to replay Opoona. Not something I'd expect out of this conference. That game came out of nowhere and became one of my favorite gaming memories on the Wii. It was just so quirky and relaxing. And had some strangely harsh life lessons about growing up and responsibility in it iirc. And the music. Fonthene comes highly recommended. (I might be slightly biased because the music reminded me a lot of another even earlier favorite of mine, Phantasy Star Online. Artiela could totally be an alternate lobby theme) Edit: I should probably tie this comment more into the actual content of the video. I would like to see Opoona in Smash someday. Not to takeaway from what's already in there. All previous Smash characters plus Inklings and Ridley is great. And this doesn't mean they won't announce more new characters before the release, there's still some time after all.

They did say beforehand that this will be focussed on 2018 titles and Smash Brothers If Metroid is not ready to show they will not show it. And I dont get why people think E3 is the only place where Nintendo can announce new games. Last year was the same thing where they had a Direct in September where they focussed on other games.

This was honestly a super close E3 between all 3 of the Big 3 in my book, because they all excelled and fell short in different ways. Sony had the best lineup of content and what they showed looked really appealing but honestly botched the beginning of its presentation (10 minutes of waiting after Last of Us 2) and had to recover the entire time in my eyes to end up solid. Microsoft had by far the longest conference and covered a lot of games and topics in great detail, having nice surprises and great features, but the problem for them is they still lacked heavily in the area of exclusive showcases and we got 0 gameplay of Halo Infinite and Gears 5 so it was their exclusive content that lacked. Nintendo had the most succinct and focused presentation because it was pre-recorded and had the best flow out of these 3 companies. The thing that Nintendo lacked were big surprises like they had last year but they revealed some of the funnest looking games of the event in Fire Emblem Three Houses and Smash Ultimate. My overall grades would be an average of Content and Presentation Sony: Content 9.0 Presentation 7.8 Overall 8.4 out of 10 Microsoft: Content 8.0 Presentation 9.0 Overall 8.5 out of 10 Nintendo: Content 8.4 Presentation 8.8 Overall 8.6 out of 10 Conclusion: Too close to call as they all really had comparable presentations. I believe Sony brought the best lineup to showcase, Microsoft had the best quality of presentation and information, and Nintendo was in the middle in both aspects showing off far more exclusives than Microsoft but not as much as Sony and having a better presentation than Sony while not being as information and surprise heavy as Microsoft.

I’m not mad Nintendo I don’t even think this direct was a bad direct at all, but as someone who likes smash from a casual standpoint this was a massive swing and a miss. I would’ve done just fine with a softly worded update on when we would learn more about bayonetta 3, yoshi and metroid prime 4, but yeah to me this was kinda a sour note to leave on with E3 for me although not as sour as square enix.

Given that Nintendo have 3 or 4 Directs in a year, it is surprising that in any year Nintendo can compete with Microsoft or Sony at E3. But they we're definitely third place here. That said, there is a logic to making this a Smash focussed event. We knew nothing about this new Smash and it is the big system seller coming out this year. That and Pokemon potenitally, and Pokemon had it's own month of publicity before. So if fans walked out of this direct thinking of anything other than Smash, the direct would have been misspent. So Nintendo's event is worse than Sony or Microsoft this year and Microsoft was the best of the three but I'd argue that in terms of giving a reason to buy their systems THIS year, it's the opposite order. Microsoft didn't give a reason to buy XBOX this year. Sony gave Spiderman as a reason to buy PS4. Nintendo gave Smash. And Smash is a bigger and better event than Spiderman. Nintendo should be happy with this.

No. I'm sorry. It sucked. They SAID it would be about games for 2018. Where's yoshi ? We even saw a goddamn Demo last year. Why was that Mech Game (Daemon X Machina) shown if it's coming 2019? Why is pokemon 60 bucks with stripped out gameplay and overpriced plastic Macrotransactions (Mew)? What happened to the whole 3rd party hype? Where are the goddamn games? Abraham M. You don’t seem to understand... the Pokeball plus is a controller... that you use with the game... you aren’t throwing the controller away after you get the Mew out. If anything, I’m getting it so I can PLAY with the controller. Mew’s just a bonus. It’s easier than getting Mew in the ORIGINAL game, in which there were 20 in the world at one point.

What a disappointment!!! Nintendo do you need to advertise smash so much to smash fans, they are amongst the most avid fan-base in gaming, they would buy your game after a CGI trailer. This conference is about advertising the company and your products. Many people have still yet to buy a switch, why only advertise the most core nintendo game available! The people who have yet to buy the switch need to be coxed in with as many game options as possible. Spending the majority of your time on one game completely inhibits this function.

because most nintendo fans, and many other gamers, play smash to begin with and catering to them means more switch sales. This is what the people want. It finally solves the "Where's Smash" cancer on every gaming stream chat. Please the fans and you will succeed, and for gathering new customers, there's so many options out there for both casuals and hardcore gamers. Nintendo won E3 with how they presented their content.

That 6.8 out of 10 LMFAO. Someone doesn't have any joy in their life. Even if you didn't click with the games its the presentation as a whole not, "they didn't have games that I like so I'm going to be salty about it." The Presentation for Smash was well done whether or not you are a fighting game fan and Fire Emblem Three Houses honestly had one of the best overall trailers of the show considering it showed a lot of gameplay unlike the cinematic trailers like Death Stranding and Beyond Good and Evil 2. I would rather see gameplay in a feature trailer than a pure cinematic that does not show me how the game will play. This was definitely a solid 8.6 out of 10, not as good as last year's crazy amazing 9.5 out of 10 blowout but still a very solid and well delivered presentation.
