Just wanted to say that Easy Allies have been killling it this e3! Seriously the best commentary out there these past 4 days. A great mix of hype, fair criticism, and open-minded speculation... all while having fun and having some laughs. The best part is it feels like a bunch of friends hanging around and talking about video games. It's been great, thanks for the coverage!

The allies really complement each other well, on one side you have the perpetually hyped guys like Huber and Ben, on another you have the cynical(though not always) Damiani and Ian, The always calculating Blood and The neutral guys, Kyle and Brandon. Truly can't get enough of your videos guys, keep it up.

I think an important thing to keep in mind for this Spotlight is that it is literally the first few months of the Switch and already we have about 10 Triple A first-party Nintendo games coming to the console in the future. And these aren't just New Super Mario Bros 3 or Wind Waker Super HD, these are brand new games covering many of Nintendo's most popular franchises. I mean, we got the announcement that Metroid Prime 4 is being made. Wii U never even got a whiff of Metroid. And I know it's easy to write off a lot of these games as being too far in the future to care about but a huge issue people had with the Wii U was that Nintendo's first party lineup was too sparse, despite the games actually being pretty damn good when they did release. With all of today's announcements and with the games we already know about coming in the near months it is looking like Switch is going to have some killer momentum going into the future. And I think that's what Nintendo wanted to show, and so I think the Spotlight succeeded because of that. That;s also kind of the reason the Sony conference failed, for me at least. Because a lot of the games we were shown in that conference were the games from last year, not a lot of brand new to look forward to in the future. It felt like Sony had been building up such a momentum of these amazing games for the past two E3 Conferences and then this 2017 Conference felt like that momentum was slowing down because they had to play catch up on their announced games. Seriously, Days Gone, GoW and Spider-Man were all from E3 2016 and they were all shown at E3 2017 with a release date of 2018. And none of those games even had a release month so that really didn't help either. I remember being so hyped for those games in 2016 and now just not caring as much because Sony hasn't capitalized on that momentum they had, and also I think Sony doesn't think they need to capitalize on the momentum because they're already leading in console sales. Whereas Nintendo just released a brand new console so they have every reason to get quality games out on their console as soon as they can. For me, Sony and Nintendo can be boiled down very simply. Nintendo felt promising, Sony just felt good.

I agree with almost everything you said, namely the first half. I have to reserve judgement on SONY's performance this year because of TGS and PSX later on (I bundle them together). I do, however, disagree with one of your observations. "And I know it's easy to write off a lot of these games as being too far in the future to care about..." Just like Huber, I am simply satisfied knowing that the games exist and have the potential to have a real release. I am a patient man, so "time spent in development" means nothing to me. "Take your time", indeed.

Here's my take on the showcase. I don't own a Switch. There wasn't enough content at launch for me to justify getting one in March. This showcase made me NEED to own one. Yes, a lot of the stuff announced won't be coming out for many moons but there's enough coming out between now and the holidays where I will absolutely be getting one as a present to myself. Had they announced Virtual Console during it, I'd be at "Huber for Resident Evil 2: Remaster" levels of hype and calling every games retailer in the area to see who has one. 9.5/10. Best in show.

You're insane, Odyssey was amazing yes 10/10 but was completely outweighed by what the Allies point out. There were no winners this E3. Pokemon AND Metroid "we're gonna start working on it" announcements, MORE skyrim, Reggie green screen monologues, terrible demostration of wtf the zelda dlc... basically 30 minutes to bring all your killer no filler and it was all boring AF except Odyssey.

+B.O.A.B Just a disclaimer, Nintendo hands down won this E3 for me, and i couldn't be more excited for metroid prime 4 and odyssey, but the statement that your "ps4 was covered in dust until the end of 2016" just seems outrageous and pretty hilarious. Sony has released plenty of exclusives, assuming exclusives are the only games you play on your ps4, and if you choose not to play any of them because you're really picky or have unsatiable standards, that doesn't mean they haven't released any decent games. Like i said earlier though, i think the switch has a really bright future ahead and i agree that people give it too much hate despite only being out 3/4 months at this point.

Eventhough, E3 is still going on and Treehouse is showing new games as well. I feel/hope Nintendo will do another press conference around the same time they did this year. The beginning of 2018, somewhere in the first couple of weeks of January 2018, Nintendo will have a press conference with trailers/teasers of new games coming 2018. Just to let you know and get hyped. Okay, maybe only a Nintendo Direct, but last conference was great (including Easy Allies their commentary and reaction xD) so I am stoked for another event like that.

Biggest announcements for me: - Mario: 10/10 obviously. - Kirby: I love that it's a classic, sidescrollin' Kirby. 100% on board for that. - Pokemon on Switch announcement: I know y'all weren't feeling it, but I'm 100% down for a simple "we're working on it" announcement. I honestly am super-okay with early announcements. I'd rather know that something like a console Pokemon game is being worked on for a couple years without seeing much of it than have a developer be all secretive about it. I can comfortably push it way to the back burner and focus on the million new games coming out this year and feel jolly knowing it's in the works when it does come to mind rather than wonder if it's ever going to happen.

C'moomm! Have you guys actually played Wooly's World and the 3DS Kirby games? They aren't in no way shovelware. WW is made by Good Feel, a studio made by amazing ex-Konami staff, and that is game is excellent - great game design, gameplay and production. And both Triple Deluxe/Planet Robobot are probably the best platformers this gen, I honestly don't know why they're ignored while the media praises indie platformers that aren't as good as these games. I don't know any other 2D platformer with more content and interesting design than the ones HAL Laboratory puts out. I strongly recommend them as they're lots of fun and offer something that no one else does (high quality production 2D platformers). Nintendo had some bad shows recently, but this one was great. Mario, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Zelda, Yoshi, Xenoblade, Pokémon and Metroid? This is simply amazing and you can bet we'll have all these games soon in our hands as Nintendo, besides the Zelda team, releases good games fast.

I'm just gonna say that having Reggie make us rethink life for 3 minutes isn't really wasting time. If anything, if they wanted to cram more games in, they can just slightly extend the duration of the presentation by, say, 5 minutes. Really, everything they showed was pre-recorded and planned, so it isn't really "wasting time" if they already decided what's being shown and what's not.

@algiuz, What a weird question. It's up to Sony to have stuff to announce. They had literally nothing new that wasn't VR. Sucker Punch is for sure working on something for this gen. PS5 is probably 3-4 years away so it's much too long for a healthy dev cycle to wait till then. If it's a new IP, it would be totally understandable that it takes longer to make than a sequel. Hopefully, next E3 we'll see it.

One of the least exciting E3 conferences in a long time. (Entire E3, not Nintendo). Barely anything was announced, and the things that were announced were not surprising. New Metro Game, Assassin's Creed Origins, Anthem, Wolfenstein 2, Evil Within 2, Mario + Rabbids, Monster Hunter Worlds, Shadow of the Colossus Remake, and Metroid Prime 4 are the announcements I remember, and none of them blew me away. Maybe I'm just bitter because there was no RE2 Remake, DMC5, FF7 Remake gameplay, Star Field, or From Software title...

One principle, I totally agree. I generally like announcements to be within 1 year of release ideally. However, consider two points: 1. Square Enix is mainly the only company with a "reveal way too early" problem. 2. FF7 and KH3 have already been announced way too early, so I just want to see more from them. FF7 in particular (KH3 got a trailer recently).
