My recommendation is to go see the Midwestern or southern states and avoid the largest cities. It will be much safer. Most of the shootings reported are within the largest city because their mayors and prosecutors are too lax to go after the criminals. Most people in the Midwest and southern states are friendly. As long as you don't discuss politics, you won't find yourself in a heated discussion.

State, dad from Mass and I had the opportunity to live in New England,Connecticut, and it was rad. Totally bloomed in that culture. But. .. then I surfed and found god. I once had to explain decimal currency to an elderly US tourist; it was his first time in UK since WW2 and was expecting sixpence, threepenny bits and half crowns, and was confused by 10, 20 & 50p pieces.Bless him.

Thank you for being kind and explaining the currency to them. As an American, for personal safety, my recommendation is to stay out of the Eastern and Western States. Major cities like New York , LA and the very high populated cities are managed by Democrats who are lax on law enforcement. To illustrate my point. In Indiana for example. 2/3 of the Indianapolis resident criminals are in the donut counties like Johnson around Marian county (Indianapolis). Indianapolis has Democrats running the city while Conservative Republicans manage the donut counties and most of the counties in the state. Most of the state has a very low murder rate except Indianapolis and Gary way up north. The sheriffs and prosecutors in the Conservative counties already said they are not letting the Indy criminals have their way by making them sit in jail for years not weeks and months like Marian county.

This is very true, the U.S. is a vast country. But equally, I would say that the average U.S. Tourist visiting the U.K. is unlikely to visit Bath, Manchester, Liverpool, York, Cornwall, The Welsh Valleys, The Lake District or the Scottish Highlands. Just London really. Not a criticism, but probably a valid point. Both countries have a lot more to see than the usual big cities. 🙂

This is true, because most people only visit NYC, LV, Vegas, and Miami when visiting. Even on road trips, they only pass by the states around them like Utah and stop for a few days max so they don’t get familiar with the local culture.

I agree there is a lot of heavy people in America and that is just due to people's diet plus people don't walk everywhere and drive to places. Driving especially true in more rural states where public transportation doesn't exist. Due to medical issues including allergies, I had to switch to a low fat , high carb diet to just maintain my weight. I went from 213lbs down close to 150lbs in about 3-4 months.

@@EasyEnglishVideos the thing is, the average english bloke's eloquence seems on par with the average american professor. americans (i am one) have very limited vocabulary and limited variation in sentence syntax compared to the english. the english are just so articulate and have such rich vocabularies.

@@Mia-vm6pl The only US creation taken on elsewhere is probably Hollywood and that's become so woke it's losing its potency. The US sets its own standards but they're generally regarded as 50 years out-of-date elsewhere. The farming and food standards, infrastructure, gun culture, healthcare, work-life balance, education system, politics etc all hark back to an earlier age. The USA stopped improving and stagnated for so long that it now sits bottom of the table of developed nations in so many areas. So you're definitely not hated, perhaps just viewed as out-of-touch. Travel the world, go spend a year or two living in Europe. It will open your eyes.

As A Welshman I agree that the English and German peoples have a lot in common. Where as the three Celtic nations of Ireland, Wales and Scotland have more in common with each other and less with the English.

The US is something like the size of Europe isn’t it? So it’s fatuous to say “What do you think of Americans?” Just as Europeans are as unlike one another country to country, so it is with the US state to state, so there surely isn’t a ‘typical’ American? I’m British and hate this proliferation of KZbin videos that keep buying into the trope of wanting the vox-pop to trot out the usual nonsense that most Americans are fat, loud and ill-educated. It’s unnecessary, unkind and untrue. During my two visits to the US I only encountered warm, welcoming, friendly people who wanted to know about life in the UK and who spoke proudly about their lives. I do, however, think that it’s reprehensible that politically the US seems to stand alone in the developed world in not providing universal health care for its people and that it appears that many people have been brainwashed into equating universal health care with communism for some obscure historical reason that I cannot fathom. It seems there’s a misunderstanding amongst many who confuse socialism, ie society caring for its people, with communism, ie a regime that controls its people. Why is there this misunderstanding? Do some of you imagine that all of us in Europe live under communism? But that is US politics and should not be conflated with US people. My only other observation is that you all spend too long at work! You deserve shorter working hours and 6 weeks paid vacation. It hasn’t bankrupted employers in the rest of the developed world so it wouldn’t bankrupt your employers either to treat you more humanely I feel.

As an American, every time I hear a Brit speak they sound very cheery. Like they are smiling. Very bright and cheery. I think all Americans love the Brits. Don't be offended if we mimic "cheerio!" it is affectionate teasing. We like hearing "proper English". I was impressed with the guy at 0:45 that is very true about the cultural ignorance often we can't even locate other countries on the map. Also at 4:00 minutes. We are very different state to state or region to region like many mini-cultures. I'd say you have (North West, West Coast, South West, Southern, East Coast, Mid-west, and North East) at least 7 distinct regions in the US by accent and culture; each influenced by its degree of cultural mixing. If I were to try and visit each region (for above) in the Us I'd try: Seattle Washington, San Diego California, Phoenix Arizona, New Orleans Louisiana, Miami Florida, Des Moines Iowa, and Jersey/New York New York. Unfortunately many are obese because of fast food. Almost 2/3 of the population is. For the 1/3 that aren't there are a lot of fit and athletic people still who usually get teased by the fat ones lol As if being fit was a mental health issue 😅 Just put down the burger bro!

I get it, Americans don't travel as much as we should and have a very closed view of the world by comparison but not all of us are "loud," "entitled," or "brash," yet we're ALL treated as if we are when we travel. I've met the locals when traveling and it never ceases to amaze me how comfortable they are with telling me how "obnoxious," "fat," or "uneducated" Americans are and how surprised they are to learn that I'm from the US. Really? How's that for being polite? Domestically, I had dinner with some friends and their German guests who were genuinely surprised that we wanted to know about the new German Chancellor (apparently they didn't think we read or watched the news). Generalizations from this video aside, I've always been told by non-Americans that we were "incredibly friendly (almost to a fault)," "curious about people who were visiting," "generous" and "hospitable to guests." It seems like most of the opinions in this video came from people sitting on their "arses" watching the "telly" rather than coming to America.

The problem, dude, is that A LOT of people in this country DO embody all of those negative stereotypes. And, unfortunately, we seem to love giving those people a platform and a microphone. *Cough* Trump *cough*. I love them. My first trip was from canada to montana driving through to Texas and Mexico. Love the brassy New Yorkers. New Orleans fabulous people. National pride is foolish but being grateful for Britian is a good thing, I think. I'm an American and I've never been to Britian but from what I've read, Britian's royal family and the nation as a whole has done great good in the world. Of course, none's perfect. I'm sure with all my spiritual flaws, I may have made the same mistakes had I as much power as Britian did.

Well, I voted for us to remain in the EU. I didn't want to brexit. When I asked why people chose to vote to leave the EU, I always got the same answer; "to make our country great again!". It just seemed like such an ignorant and patriarchal decision to make. Though I'd be lying if I said I knew for a fact that remaining was the better decision as well. Truth is, nobody in Britain knows what was best for us, as our government was spooning us all sorts of lies.

This tends to be the case, I find. You can watch other videos of people from various cultures' thoughts on Americans, and it's a fairly common thing. I think we're not so well represented by media and, of course, that stereotype of the American tourist which, while true, is only one type of American. There are also quiet, respectful ones walking past you on the streets of Paris or London or etc that you just don't know happen to be American.

My ancestry is English, so I'm very interested in seeing historical spots. I've known two people who moved here from England. Lovely people. If you listen to what they were saying there is a clear pattern: American tourists in Europe: Sometimes rude and brash. Americans in America: very pleasant and welcoming. Americans have less time off from work than Europeans; Americans that travel abroad are either teachers or very wealthy Americans. It’s the wealthy Americans that might have a bit of an attitude about them.

Why do (SOME) American comments always bring up this one thing? That was 80 years ago, neither of US were alive back then probably. These are entirely different people than those from ww1 and 2. It's also really embarrassing how this is the only thing that's being brought up, no matter what the topic is. "So one thing I don't like about America..." "-WW1!!!WW2!!!" Come up with something new, somwthing that actually relates to the topic. Or just be like any normal person, think "wow, this rando sure does say a lot of nonsense", ignore them, and move on

As an older American whose father was of English and Scottish descent and also fought in WW2, I was genuinely scared to click on this. My dad was so proud of his service and of America, and so am I. These videos often run Americans down and it almost brings me to tears. It's nice to hear a few positive comments. We aren't all pushy and arrogant. BTW, visit somewhere besides the right and left coasts. You'll get a better idea of what we're actually all about.

it's not that Americans are stupid or naive. It's just those are the absolute loudest ones! I think most Americans are very thoughtful and like the British, but tend to be very quiet about it. They're not trying to draw attention to themselves and are very nice, but the rude, and ignorant kind of overshadow the quiet ones.

the typical american's favorite foreign countries tend to be either france, italy, or england, and a lot of americans have some type of ancestry rooted in europe. so british people have always been seen quite positively here

This is often a class based behaviour. Typically, the working and upper classes behave with very strong self-confidence and behave as if they don't care what other people think - and they drink heavily and can be obnoxious. But then you have the majority of middle class people who are very aware of their position in society and what other people think - and though they might drink moderately, they would never behave in that load brash drunken way that the upper/working classes do. British society is very nuanced in the class system - I can categorise someone within a minute or two in terms of background / position in society / money etc , just by the way their dress, speech and demeanour.

I think there are a lot of stereotypes about Americans. I had experience with Americans teachers. The truth is that they were really loud but not brash, rude or abrupt. They were very polite and friendly with students, not arrogant or posh. My perception of Americans is that they are just the same people as all of us.

the one comment from the black / mixed race gentleman is exactly correct. from day one the american entertainment industry has been massive and the undisputed leader in terms of movies, tv, etc. and because there always has been such a ginormous production of content going all the way back to the earliest days of radio, movies, tv, etc. it has led to a large amount of insularity amongst many americans. which really sucks for somebody like me i'm 55 and would've loved to see content from other countries as a tween but it was rare and you had to search it out on one of what was then called "the cable channels". it was mostly shows like 'mystery' and other assorted mostly ww2 era detective shows that i would sometimes watch with my stepdad. now that i have me some youtube i watch tons of true crime shows and various other stuff from other countries. i almost don't even bother with american true crime anymore because it was all i had access to fer decades.

For the most part a social democratic point of view.The USA is huge and to say varied is an under statement.People that came here in 50's and beyond came here to avoid economic hardship. I'm an American. Media is way too prevalent here, it's into every nook and cranny of our lives + people share their opinions on hot topics too much. More people are getting fat as a whole but you can go over to another city or state and see more fit people than other places. It's such a mixed bag and politics has hurt how people interact with each other. We probably have the worst voting system in the world and we're stuck in between a rock and a hard place. I really admire the English for their overall reserved manner in public and not trying to tell the world what they're into by their appearance or first few sentences, I think it makes them more approachable and adds some mystery.
