AIG never worked for me, and I always wanted a simple way to add traffic and models, plus an easy way to provide models for VATSIM. I trust the FBW team, whereas I got limited to no support from the AIG team with my problems. I know all this is freeware, but FSLTL have shown that it can all be done easily. Well it seems for me is the other way around. I tried installation 3 times but it didn't work. I can't figure out why it doesn't show any traffic at all no matter what airport I used. Yes, the installation was easier, but no traffic. I did requested support from a link they provided but got no response. I think I will have to stick with AIG, which works ok for me as long as I don't use 100% traffic.I did get replies from AIG support though, so no problem there. AIG installation is a little conversome, but once installed it works well.

Amazing, lot more traffic than I ever got with AIG, the models are very realistic and detailed, performance is great and I’ve seen both departing and arriving planes, love the fact that you can see details as flaps down while landing and you can even see and hear the engines reverse

I spent hours setting up and trying to troubleshoot AIG but every time I launched it when I was loaded at the gate, the application would just crash. Ended up just deleting it, then I spotted FSLTL on another video and it literally took me about half an hour to install/download. It worked perfectly on the first attempt and I cannot wait to do a flight with it running :)

I’m simply blown away! I had AIG and experienced nothing but bad stutters and even blank screen flashes since the day I loaded it. Today I installed FSLTL. It went fast and smooth compared to AIG. It works almost perfectly! With correct aircraft liveries and schedules at the appropriate airports and gates, even GA. The correct aircraft sounds and reverse engine on landing is so darn realistic. Very smooth with no stutters due to loading aircraft etc… Without AIG, seems everything has opened up for me now! 👍

Thanks for the video Gavin. I have found FSLTL to be fantastic. I have watched planes land, go to gate, have catering/baggage etc loaded, then turned around and taken off again. Also I found if you pin FSLTL to taskbar & open it when it is injected into MSFS it will show the aircraft data that it is tracking. Absolutely brillant!!

You can have both AIG and FSLTL. The injection will use all models in the community folder. So you'll increase the number of matches. And for landing -> just wait a bit longer. It takes a bit longer to spool everything up.

just wanted to say that during my AM flight from KDCA to KGRR this was the first time I've ever had AI traffic (provided by FSLTL) that gave contrails in the sky while I was sitting on the ground...very pleased with the product and I'm seeing no performance degradation using 60/20/5/60 for settings (know that performance will vary based on people's machines). And i'm getting good AI interaction with PF3 ATC!

I just discovered your video and immediately installed FSLTL to replace my Simple Traffic Tool by Aerosoft. FSLTL is absolutely great - it makes traffic at and around airports very realistic. I avoided AIG due to comments about how complicated it can be. FSLTL was easy to install and seems to have no noticeable effect on performance. Thank so much for the video introduction.

This app is amazing. First off its free. Second its very easy to install and use if you already have FBW installed. I started a flight KATL a very large and busy airport. It brought the entire airport alive with take-offs and landings , jets taxing ,everything is just so much more realistic and immersive. Did not have any noticeable frame rate hit. Highly recommend.

Thank you for the comparison. I primarily fly GA and installed FSLTL a couple weeks ago. It works great and is so simple to set up and use. I installed AIG and it is definitely not as straightforward to use. The traffic in AIG was far less dense and not at all in line with what I see in FSLTL.

I could never get AIG Traffic Controller to work well. At best, it would stay up for a few minutes, and if I was lucky, I would get to takeoff from an airport full of traffic. After a few minutes, though, AIGTC would consistently crash and I often couldn't get it to work again without restarting the sim. Tried FSLTL last night and I have to say I'm impressed. I stress tested MSFS at some very busy airports (e.g., O'Hare, Heathrow, Singapore), and FSLTL worked beautifully. I watched several planes taxi, take off, and come in for a landing...also listened to the in-game ATC as I went around with the drone cam. FSLTL was very smooth and very stable, to boot. I do want to try it with my AIG OCI beta folder enabled to see if I can get some A380 models/liveries back in the sim (initially, FSLTL did not release with A380 models). Overall, I'm excited for this to come out, and I am eager to see what they add to it in the future. Would love to see more GA models included here.

Just installed this today, removing my Aerosoft Simple Traffic mod, with it's ugly pointy nosed aircraft. I did one flight from LECH>ESGG, and it was very good. I even had plenty of traffic around on my TCAS (in the Fenix A320), and one traffic alert which was a close shave. I also joined the Flight Plan Database website to get an API key. Regarding the setting for ground static aircraft (0-10), think of it as a percentage, so 6=60%. I started at 6, but once landing in Geneva, there was a ton of static aircraft, I have now set it to 4. There is still a ton of eye candy on the ground. I also moved my camera to the runway and watched departing and arriving aircraft for a while, keeping my eye on the injector window to see what movements I was watching. I saw a couple of go-arounds due to AI traffic already on the runway. The injector times the go-around out, it does not actually go-around to attempt to land again. Once out of sight the aircraft that went around is re-spawned at the gate is was meant arrive at. You can see this in the injector window. My only livery problem is that there is an Airbus floating around with an all-white livery, parked at a gate, but I don't know what airline it belongs to. I assume it will be noticed and fixed soon. Like many I looked at AIG, but decided to go for the easy (Aerosoft) option,as I don't use VATSIM. FSLTL is going to stay installed and become my default AI. BTW you don't have to run the injector from the FBW installer, you can run the injector's exe file from it's install folder, I just created a shortcut to it. It saves yet another application running stealing CPU cycles when MSFS is running. I don't have a FPS problem, as I have a good system (AMD 5900X + AMD 6800XT)

Thankyou for the tutorial video. I've had AIG for P3D for years and AIG for MSFS for a while, AIG has been good but it's been a lot to get my head around. For the past few hours I have been testing out FSLTL and it's much easier to install and deal with. The sounds are great, the lights and jet blur are cool and I'm immediately seeing lots of high quality AI planes at the gates. It takes about 10 minutes to inject AI planes for landing or taking off. I'll probably to move to FSLTL fulltime soon. Thank you all the FBW teams!

after a 10 days battleing with FSLTL and a constant growing frustration, I have finally found which config was working best for my medium old rig. Basically, using the base model combined with the ingame real time online traffic is by FAR the best. From the moment I used the injector ( to combine with Flightradar24 ), the game just CTD every single time i hit the "Fly" button. I can't tell yet about any FPS drop, as I only found out about this config last night. And i got caught just plane spotting at EGLL. I was so impressed by the quality of the base model, and definitely the SOUND !!!!! Tonight, i'll test flying with that config, and see if the FPS drop is too heavy or not. My wild guess is yes, because when trying to spawn at any mega airport in the US, i only got CTDs. Buth this is only a theory, and has not been tested yet. See a lot of comments along the lines of 'Just deleted AIG'. You don't need to delete AIG, just don't use the Traffic Controller. Any liveries that FSLTL doesn't currently have it will try and get from AIG. (According to thier docs). Eventually I expect FBW will add as many liveries as AIG, then you can delete AIG and recover some disk space.

@@holobolo1661 hmm, not sure. This is the line from the readme that comes with the injector: FSLTL models are prefered in all cases but we have fallback mappings to generics / AIG / other AI packages when nothing suites!

In order to guarantee arriving ifr traffic you need to set your max ifr flights over 90. Also if you are in a busy airport like LHR and LAX, departing traffic kinda takes priority over arriving traffic. Finally you could check if you have arriving traffic or not by using littlenavmap.

Something very important that I don't seeing being discussed is that, for example, if you can only fly in the evening in real life but set sim time to afternoon, you will only see aircraft that are flying in the evening as it only uses LIVE DATA, i.e. hardly any. This is a major flaw, apart from the missing liveries on white aircraft, in an otherwise excellent free add-on.

I just thought of that too. The only free time I have to do my simulations is at night, but most of my flights are during the day. So using FSLTL I can never get the traffic according to the simulated time, it always gets the real time schedule, gets kinda fake.

I'm currently using AIG. Took a while making it run. It was quite good but during a flight, the AIG Traffic Controller application quits all the time, without any log message or error. That's a pity. Anyway, looking forward on trying fsltl. Thank you for your review and great explanations!

Great video, thanks. One small point - I think you may have misunderstood how the traffic injector works - it does not mirror the live data on FR24, it only downloads the flight plans and then runs those plans within the sim.

That's correct. As it says in the video, once they are spawned in, they are controlled by the default ATC and not by the traffic injector.

Call me lazy if you wish, but I simply can’t go back to AIG. The simplicity via the FBW Installer immediately rewarded me with rich traffic and visual / audio immersion - unbeatable - while tweaking AIG to my liking got me to end up spending many nights in the garden with the dogs... All for what? The elusive EVA AIR Hello Kitty livery flying somewhere between Tokyo and Hong Kong !!!! You are so right, I’m in for the “flying” , not the tweaking. (my wife finally approves)

I was using the Aerosoft repaint program until today. I must say, it lost a lot of fps. I usually have 50 fps in EKCH and now I am at 35 max. I haven't tweaked how many aircraft I am seing yet, I just used the default settings, which are now 85 IFR aircrafts. But, it looks so much better than the default models, and it so easy to use as you also mention. Real "plug and play". 🙂

I’ve been looking for a good add-on for real world traffic and liveries, and this is the first one I have seen that looks easily manageable, and also is as close to accurate as can be accommodated with the current flight sim SDKs.

FSLTL basically uses the same model that AIG uses, mainly from FAIB, TFS, FSPXAI - some of the guys have been there since FS2004 days. They do come with better sounds in FSLTL packages. Overall, it is a much less hassle solution for AI traffic that is probably less taxing on system resources. Quality wise, I guess it improves the sound of each AI planes. If you want to do plane spotting, watch all those special liveries (old, new, alliance, etc), plane variants (down to sat comm variants), see more models (e.g. A380, A340, 787-8 and -10, E-170s, E-175s, E-195s, CRJs, older ATRs and many other not availabe in FSLTL) AIG is still the way to go. It is a massive install and quite a hassle to work out how to get their OCI working. Overall, FSLTL is probably made for online airliner flyers that just want a library for model-matching with contemporary aircraft. AIG is from the age old FS spin-off hobbies of "plane spotting" hence their obsessive attention to details with satcomm variants, off-colour liveries, slightly different font type on the airline name, 737 classic with or without logo lights, and all ridiculous tidbits that nobody but geekiest plane nerds care about.

i deleted it when i realised traffic is live and i had no planes because where i was flying its the middle of the night , made me realise i never fly live and often are very out of sync from live time so realised it was no use. will carry on with AIG i never had issues with Aig apart from it is laggier

Just replaced AIG with FSLTL and set myself up at my home airport, Birmingham. Quickly joined by a6 Lufthansa plane on a nearby ramp but that was it for a few minutes! Looking at the fsltl trafic injector window, the injector had reached its max IFR count (I have initially tried 60) having injected loads of planes at EGLL and EGGW ! Took some time for more planes to appear at Brum. A Flybe Dash aircraft later landed ... just 20 seconds or so after it had on Flight Radar! Most other movements were more delayed for a while, then a Ryanair 737 landed just a minute "late" ... but FSLTL had it rolling out to the far end of the runway (brakes not working well?!?) when it had turned off earlier in reality. Same with a Jet2 arrival just afterwards. Must stop comparing with Flight Radar and just enjoy! Would be nice to have a "map" of the traffic (as did AIG) parked on my second monitor in order to spot a gap for take-off between the arrivals!

A321 Turkish Airlines was shown in Airbus neo colours. A330 Jordan Aviation shown in white (repeatedly disappearing then reappearing on stand ... then reappeared on a different short stand with its tail hanging outside the parking areas, now pushing back about 13 mins after it did on Flight Radar) . But everything moves much better on the ground than it did in AIG. Will use FSLTL's injector on most flights apart from an occasional VATSIM flight to a busy airport.

Well, I’ve tried AIG but FSLTL at first view, and sound, blows it out of the proverbial water. The models are beautiful, lights bright and easily visible, the engine sounds are fantastic. And yes I’ve watched departures and arrivals and matched them to flight radar 24. Easy to install, easy to use. I’m a very happy virtual pilot.

Thanks for this! I caught a setting I'd missed. There are a couple liveries from start-up airlines in Western Canada that are missing. No biggie. I have seen arriving and departing aircraft at several airports, Calgary, Atlanta, Seattle.

FSLTL uses other installed aircraft. So if you have AIG A380 installed it will be used by the FSLTL injector.

I use both in tandem after a lot of experimentation with live traffic, with 64Gb of memory there is head room to play. KLAX for a busy airport to sit and watch the airport arrivals and departures in almost real time. For further immersion tune to KLAX tower.

First, I suggest deleting the Asobo planes from the sim objects folder that is included with FSLTL. Also, if you leave the AIG planes in your community folder, it should draw from your AIG folder. FSLTL does not have the B757, but when I spawned at SFO, I had 757s and an A380 UAE sitting at the gates. The biggest letdown I’ve seen with FSLTL is that traffic seems to only use one runway for departure and then airlines are not parking at correct gates. I know this may change with updates but it is very cool to look at FR24 and your sim and see the same planes active.

I shall use both, FSLTL for live traffic and AIG for traffic where I am in a part of the world where I have to time shift and in that location its early hours of the morning there with next to no live flights. FSLTL can use the AIG models too by the way so deleting AIG is premature in my opinion.

My first trial with FSTL was not realy conclusive. Many aircrafts without livery, all the aircrafts concentrated close to mine (terminal 2 LFPG) but no aircraft in the other terminals. I probably did something wrong and you video shows that it works... I will try again. Thanks very much for your very useful work.

Looks great and good to see so many positive comments. Unfortunately, it always leaves me crashing to desktop when I am on the approach: this doesn’t happen without it. Unfortunately I get about 15fps drop when I run it, but that’s something I can work on. In the meantime, it really is as easy to install as you’re hearing!

Currently experimenting from the max setting in which I notice a heap of go arounds on arriving aircraft, offline FR24 mode only. I have changed it down to 35 IFR and everything, taxi, departures and arrivals have been smooth no conflicts. About to test at half rate with 42 IFR. Will be interesting what all of us use to get the best mix.

I have been using this for a day now. Comments the sounds are really well done and are in stereo as aircraft pass. I love the contrails from the AI aircraft. Installation is the simplest I could imagine. I have seen many arriving aircraft (try YBBN for examples). Minor negative points at the moment are that my departing aircraft seem to leave dust/smoke trails which appear odd as if on gravel or wet runways. Also there are a several regional airlines and aircraft missing from the package (eg Aliance, Rex Airlines in Australia) and the A380 you mentioned (perhaps they are waiting on the FBW A380 modelling). But wow this is a wonderful piece of freeware and my disk space currently occupied by AIG may soon be released.

Great review and great tool, I love Aig but after upgrading windows 10 to 11 Aig crashes constantly. This new program is so much easier to install, I left all my aig files in the community folder and I had an a380 at Sydney airport at the gate

I am very satisfied with the AIG library (I use "RealTraffic + PSXT" as an injector), the matching hits around 95% - and even with the matching livery to the registration. BUT: My AIG taks 43GB, that is double the amount of FSLTL and until now I have a 7 year old system with only a 500GB SSD. I'm flying Boeings all the time and I deinstalled FBW and Fenix due to space. I could install theese again when using FSLTL and adding to that I love to see VFR traffic (even when in an airliner, but I also do GA flights very often with the Pipers oder C414). I think, I'll wait for one Update or so and then switch from AIG to FSTL (don't have the space to have both at the same time).

I never got around to setting up AIG, it just seemed like a real pain. This however is bloody fantastic! Setup took seconds, it just works! Amazing! Are there a few misssing models and liveries? Yup. I'm looking at you A380 & CRJ... But what is there is so good (the sounds!!!) I just don't care. They've already said there will be further development and updates so I am sure it will all get sorted in the future. What a great addition to the sim from another great contributer to the fabulous community that is MSFS. Now, it's about World Update 11... there seem to be some issues. Why is the CN Tower melting?

Honestly all I remember about AIG freeware is it was not remotely user friendly, it was a massive pain to install and didn’t even work for me (and I consider myself tech savvy). Even if FSLTL wasn’t as good I’d gladly use it if I know I don’t have to spend an hour of my time just for it to possibly work.

To be fair I’m in the process of doing a full reinstall of my pc, which also obviously means a full reinstall of MSFS and relevant addons. I had been using AIG, but really wasn’t looking forward to setting it all up again. This ticks the box perfectly. So hand on heart I think it’s fair to say I’ll be installing this rather than AIG this t8me round. Especially as it seems to cover VFR flights as well as heavy metal. Which as a predominantly VFR pilot, will be perfect.

Same case for me, sim update 10 ended up literally deleting my game files so aig somehow reset along with that. Was in the middle of installing and saw this released, hoping the switch is worth it!

I'll be continuing to use the new IVAO MTL for vatsim. I can hear the groans now, but trust me, the new (not the old mtl) models are superior in quality to AIG and also about 20% better on frames. No doubt FSLTL is the go to for offline though!

@Easyjetsimpilot I am also not seeing any arriving aircraft, only departing. I installed latest version of Traffic Injector. I notice "enroute parked by sim as close to destination" message for arriving aircraft in the injector logs.

Great video, thanks. Personally I just decided to give msfs some time and effort again after months of doing other things and lo and behold there was fsltl. For me it saves msfs which was empty before ai traffic arrived. Ugly default models with ugly fiction liveries are a sacrilege in a self respecting flight sim. So fsltl was God sent! Pro's: -it's here!! -updates will come. -so easy even I get it. - all inserted through the same fbw installer. - be a little patient and you will see flights coming in and leaving. Cons: - none. Just not entirely up to date yet with models and liveries, but again: those updates will come. - hardly any cargo planes? - seems that planes don't park in the right spots or use the right runways, BUT, that can also be the sim's fault. Again, be patient, smart people will figure this out. Go get it. To fsltl: thank you for making my sim come alive, you're legends.

I tried it out today. it was ok, I like the models. I just wish reserving a parking spot(during arrival) with GSX would clear the gate from Ai traffic to spawn on.

I dunno if this helps, but whenever I install traffic addons like AIG and definitely this one. Is that I go to the Official Folder, and I manually open the aircraft.cfg file for all the generic traffic aircraft. And set the IsGeneric=0 and IsAirTraffic=0 as well. This will force the sim to stop using the pointy nose generic model and livery at any point, so that it will always use the model from the addons.

Do not delete AIG Liveries/Models ;-) FSLTL has a fallback mechanism and uses the installed AIG stuff, if there is no suitable FSLTL plane. So you can see the right A380s with using AIG and FSLTL :-)

That seems to be contradictory what Kai at AIG said. He said they would not support FSLTL. And if there is a fallback mechanism then you could in theory only install the injector, keep your entire AIG installation and use the AIG models instead.

It's not bad but unfortunately, doesn't work with some payware airports. EG it doesn't work with the EDDM from Justflight, LGAV Flytampa and I keep finding other. Aircraft load into the parking places but nothing taxis, arrives, or departs. I think Im going to hold out for Just Flight Traffic Global as I know what doesnt rely on sim airport data. I dont really lose FPS but get micro stutters

The main issue I have with traffic mods and you showed it @ 9:36. Aircraft at the wrong gates! That Hawaiian is parked at the Domestic Virgin Australia Terminal.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think it is down to the scenery developers to assign the gates for the traffic that spawns in.

The problem I uave with AIG is so many flightplans are so old. 2018 schedules for Chinese airlines. Old Virgin Atlantic, still waiting for Jetblue update
