@Armando Problemas I think it refers more to what direction you should aim your life and career. It's not to say that you shouldn't directly concern yourself with the well being of others, merely that your life aim will likely help others more if it's something you are intrinsically driven to do.

@@Scott_Raynor Good point. There's no replacement for direct care for those in need. The quote refers more to the need for intrinsic passion in your career path. If you desire to help others AND pursue something that you're passionate about, you can combine those things to help people more because you have a natural drive to continue in the work you're doing.

Cuando luchaba contra la depresión, una de mis preocupaciones era que yo era una carga para mis padres y que mi depresión los había hecho sentir miserables. Me sentía muy culpable por eso y no podía hacer nada al respecto. Hasta que un día que lo hablé con una profesora y me dijo: "No lo consideres así. La depresión te está haciendo crecer tanto a ti como a tus padres. No eres el único que está creciendo a través del dolor. Ellos también están creciendo y aprendiendo como padres. Es una oportunidad de aprendizaje para ellos también." Realmente necesitaba escuchar algo así y me liberó de tanta vergüenza y culpa que sentía :)

Los consejos no funcionan en la mayoría porque cada uno/a tiene una forma distinta de entender las cosas. Prefiero llamarlo inspiraciones o planteamientos. Con esto no te inmiscuyes en la autonomía de la otra persona.
