One thing i will mention on those egg mcmuffins vs mcdonalds; the mcdonalds ones also have ham that add to the calories. Me PERSONALLY, i order them with no butter (35cals i think) and i always throw away half the bread. Making them a more open face style mcmuffin. Saves me a ton of calories and gives me a much better protein to calorie ratio. I can usually find a deal on the app for buy one get a 2nd one for $1. Bringing my cost down to $2.50 a mcmuffin. So with this recipee here, i would add ham and only use half a muffin per sandwhich
@Dyanosis21 күн бұрын
Where the fuck are you finding muffins for $1.50? Also, butter is the flavor. If you're skimping on butter, you're missing out. I promise you that 35 cals isn't going to be the thing that kills you or makes you fat.

93/7 is the secret (they sell leaner but that’s the most common in most stores). At Costco or Sam’s Club (someone is going to hate because they’re always going to hate… but not everyone has butchers and cows like we do in my state and the price of burger is even cheaper that way for better quality)… 1LB is less than $5 (here anyways). You could literally eat the whole pound for 680 calories and get 92 grams of protein… and most people would be full for the entire day just doing that. That sounds drastic and dramatic but the only reason why I say that is for people to think about absolute crap they eat that would equal more calories than that and be more expensive. So just think the next time you’re driving through to get that Dave’s Classic Triple at Wendy’s that it’s probably $5 cheaper even after you bought buns to go with it and probably takes less time than going through the drive thru (and is way healthier) to just open up that 93/7, pre-smash some patties in parchment paper and cook them quick on a pan, griddle, grill.
@Dyanosis21 күн бұрын
93/7? But fat is the flavor. At least do 88/12, especially if you're buying from Costco (seeing as that's the ratio that Costco sells). If your meat is missing too much fat, then it's just a tough burger. The only way you get a flavorful, juicy burger, is with the fat. And side note - 80/20 is the sweet spot for the best burgers. 85/15 if you don't want your burgers to shrink too much but still want a nice mix.

This is why the buns are so low calorie because 90% of it isnt absorbed. In Australia however, while i dont know the specifics, it appears that whatever method American bakers have discovered has either not been shared, never tried or illegal in my country. I’m sure Reggie means ultra-processed (UP) vs just cheese that is processed in that cheese doesn’t just grow off trees. There is a difference, and additives used in many UP foods have been linked to health issues. On top of that, large companies have been caught giving false info on their foods/knowing certain chemicals are dangerous but not caring until a law is made. That said, it is unfair to dismiss all UPFs, and the health risks associated to UPFs are greatly exacerbated by overall dietary choices. So, if you do your own research on a product you are curious about and are eating a variety of foods, all should be well. Keep up the good work @Exercise4CheatMeals. smash burgers with 93/7 beef is a crime. You need the fat for a perfect smash burger. Fyi your not getting the browning aka Maillard a typical smash burger is known for because there is no fat. Try this with 85/15%. The extra fat isn't going to hurt the macros much
@Exercise4CheatMeals22 күн бұрын
Hey Xferone. 93/7 tastes great, even during my bulk. Gotta disagree. 85/15 would throw macros way off and Id be able to only eat one burger and have significantly less protein.
@amorfati492722 күн бұрын
85/15 is 70 more calories per serving (which in this instance is in the ballpark of 33% more calories), over double the fat and less protein per serving. It most definitely throws off macros. I don’t disagree with you on the idea of a smash burger and it needing more fat to get the Maillard reaction and being juicier… but this isn’t “making the most gourmet burger” situation… this is making a healthy burger that is in the general ballpark of as good (which cooking techniques are the large majority of that).
@Dyanosis21 күн бұрын
@@amorfati4927 Missing the idea of a proper browning and the retention of juice is "in the general ballpark of good"? I guess if you're missing your taste buds, maybe. And where is your people's sense of balance? If you're eating a burger, I bet you got a salad and some nasty no-cal buns to go with it. You can eat the burger, and save somewhere else, like no yolks or skimp on butter. I saw someone else say you could not use the butter on your buns (which saves 35 cals). Do that for 2 buns and you're even on your calorie budget. Add ham, like a true Egg McMuffin is made with, and now your protein is even as well. You're welcome.

Mistake #1 - Not toasting your muffins. No calories added, and the texture is so much better. Plus, between the heat of the toasted muffin and your egg, the cheese would have melted. Mistake #2 - Not making an Egg McMuffin. An Egg McMuffin has ham/Canadian bacon (though I believe they use Canadian bacon, which is the perfect shape and size for the muffin) Mistake #3 - Saying "perfectly seasoned" with no pepper on the egg. Mistake #4 - Putting butter down for your smash burgers. The fat from the meat (especially if you were doing 88/12 or 85/15) would be more than enough. The butter is causing the Leidenfrost effect to happen which makes it so the burger never has full contact with the pan. Fun phrase I learned from a book I'm reading - "It's never the fault of the tool, it's the fault of the user". You're using most of the right tools, but you are the problem.
