According to Healthline dietician Rachel Link, wheatgrass contains vitamins A, C and E, as well as other vitamins and minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium and 17 different varieties of amino acids. Out of the 17 amino acids, 8 are considered essential nutrients. "Essential" here means that your body cannot produce these on its own, so the only way to get them is to incorporate foods containing them into your diet.
2. May Help With Weight Loss
Wheatgrass, like other plants, contains tint, specialised compartments in its structure known as thylakoids. In the scientific journal Appetite, a small study demonstrats that individuals who supplemented a high-carbohydrate meal with thylakoids felt more full and sated after their meal compared to a control group which supplemented with a placebo instead.
3. Reducing Cholesterol, Blood Sugar and Inflammation
According to a number of animal-based studies, wheatgrass may be effective at regulating the body's levels of LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol). A Polish pharmaceutical study discovered that wheatgrass effects cholesterol in similar ways as a prescription medication specifically designed to help treat high blood cholesterol. Wheatgrass may also assist your body by raising its levels of "good" cholesterol as well, otherwise known as HDL cholesterol.
