Calrose, jasmine, basmati, whatever. it makes it perfectly every. single. time. it's worth its weight in gold.

Living in Japan, I've got the one on the left, but it cost about half as much as the one in the video. My friend always complained about my old rice cooker's rice, and now I can understand why. If you're going to eat a lot of rice, definitely worth the money for the good one. And I can confirm that the rice is still good for days. For maybe 2 days I'll happily eat it plain. After that, I stick to making fried rice. As far as 10 days, though... I feel like you need to rethink how much rice you're making if you have enough for 10 days.
@wellivea16 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and tiger sells some for about $70 that are still far better than the mechanical click ones, they just don't have any special features or timer. The consistency of the rice depends on how much water you put in, unlike the $350 zojirushi, but it doesn't burn rice to the bottom and the texture is fairly consistent. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KDNKTJG/

My old rice cooker had one 60 minute setting and a warming function, it could never make proper sushi rice, and the warm function dried or browned the rice on the bottom. Once skeptical of these fancy smart cookers - they absolutely make better rice. @JimN5QL6 жыл бұрын
Wow! I guess you have never used the aroma pot before. Like he said there's only one button. Mine has a non-stick coating so there's never an issue of rice sticking. What he did not mention is that after the button pops up it goes into a keep warm mode and that is what will burn the rice on the bottom and that's why I simply take the pot out and put it on a trivet to stop the cooking on the bottom. I use long grain, Basmati and Jasmine rice. At first there is a learning curve to get the ratio of rice to water for each but after that it's simple. I am a Cajun and Cajun food usually has rice as a side. When I serve guests I always get asked how did I make the rice. there's actually no extra effort and it seems more effort with that $350 one with all the buttons to push. My Aroma pot is very lightweight, small footprint and easy to store when not needed that is a plus for me. My grandmother taught my mother how to make rice in a saucepan with a lid and mom taught me how to do that and the rice came out wonderful. I just bought the aroma pot because it was on sale and I was curious but I have not regretted the purchase!

Lived with my parents' Zojirushi all my life for the price of $150 brand new from the 99 Ranch. Moved out on my own and got a $30 black and decker rice cooker (w/ pot lid like the Aroma one). It was hell trying to eat that stuff every day. Finally bought my own Zojirushi for $150, and it was such a HUGE difference. I "mealprep" my rice, leaving it in up to a week sometimes. Never worried about "rice poisoning" as some mealpreppers always seem to worry about. Rice is always fluffy and perfect. The type of rice you can just eat by itself. I use it to make hot oatmeal for breakfast and porridge for sick days, too.Wash it, press the button, and you're done with it. I work, go to the gym, and try to sleep early. I try to spend 1 hour at most for cooking and eating, otherwise I only have 2 hours of free time before bed. A legit rice cooker is seriously a must have for everyday rice eaters!

Honestly I’ve always loved rice with my meals since a kid. My mom worked with a Filipino man who taught her how to make it perfect in a pot on the stove with a piece of a grocery paper bag sheet between the lid and the pot once we were ready to let the steaming process begin. Rice was perfect every time. When I was 20 years old I was introduced to a rice cooker by a friend who was married to a Japanese man. Thus my kids grew up eating rice at almost every meal. But now we were eating the short grain calrose sushi type rice. So that is what they prefer. Now that I’m alone, I eat mostly short grain sushi rice but some dishes are better with the jasmine rice. I was introduced to that by a Thai man I worked with. I’m vegan now so rice is my daily staple with my meals. I have really considered buying this expensive rice cooker when I saw it on Mommy Tangs KZbin channel. I think it can only improve the quality of my favorite dish. Tfs this video 👍😊

A good rice cooker makes a huge difference, from unpalatable to tasting great. I would say you can get some fantastic cookers around the 100 dollar mark - anything that incorporates a little logic in it. No need to spend 350 dollars, but also best to avoid the sub 50 dollar cookers as well.

Had a Zoji for maybe 17 years. It was the simple one-button kind. Perfect rice every time. We don't eat a lot of rice. But recently when Zoji stopped lighting up, my partner went out and bought a cheapo rice cooker the kind like the Aroma. Rice from the new cheapo was so bad I now go out of my way to re-think dinners so that rice is not used. Trying to find a repair shop to get the Zoji working again but with the pandemic just about everybody shuttered their doors. Having watched this video 2x now I am guessing I'm going to have to go out and buy a new Zoji.

I think for most people looking for a quality rice cooker it doesn't have to be Zojirushi but they should definitely try to get one with a lid that shuts hermetically. I would only recommend the one with the glass lid to Brady and students so they can also use it to prepare instant noodles and whatnot at dorms.

I do have a zojirushi midrange rice cooker at home and it did messup my dinner a few time. For those of you who ever bought "new" crop Jasmine rice, you guys know that you have to use less water. The fresher the rice, the less water it will absorb. And I realised that if you're not putting enough water, the rice cooker will stop pretty quickly, I guess because it senses that there is not enough water. But the result is uncooked rice, still very wet, and good for nothing but making congee with it. But it's still a very good tool rice lovers.

The secret to avoid the browning on the bottom of the traditional white cooker, as soon as the switch clicks, remove the inner pot to a trivet with the lid still on and let sit for 10 minutes. And if your rice was a bit mushie, just a tad less water.

I got a 10-14$ rice cooker in denmark and I'm happy with it. Took me a few times to figure out how much water to ad for the best rice, but a would love that 350$ one at some point in my life. After I have cooked the rice in my cooker I ad a bit of water, so after the rice have rested for 10mins of until the other food is done then there is nothing sticking to the bottom. And before I clean it if there is anything stuck then I give it a little water and after 20 mins it will fall out by itself.

I own a generic rice cooker and a computerized fuzzy logic Sanyo cooker from 2011 or so. The rice from the Sanyo is always perfect: more evenly cooked, more tender, without undercooked, dry or burnt spots and it is kept warm up to 12 hours without drying out. Cooking takes much longer though. IMO worth every penny.
