In recent years, the Queens neighborhood of Jackson Heights has become home to a flourishing Himalayan community. Tibetans, Nepalese, and Bhutanese all congregate here, bringing with them their varied food traditions. The Museum of Food and Drink, along with the Eater team, set out to sample the dishes - from spicy curries and doughy momos to steaming soups and teas - this neighborhood has to offer.

Dear Indian, Nepali, and Tibetan immigrants. Please bring your food and culture to Philadelphia. I'd give anything for a community like this in my own city, where I could not only eat and try new foods but also learn and meet people from lands and cultures I'm in love with. I think I speak for most of my city when I say you stand invited; Philly is lonely without you.

Jackson Heights is like the epicenter of immigrants in NYC. Indians, Pakistanis, Mexicans, Guatemalans, Ecuadorians, Chinese etc., etc. But I never knew Tibetans to live in the area. Pretty cool.

Who are these masses of "wanna-bees" that you are referring to? I live in New York - in Jackson Heights as a matter of fact - but I grew up in Philadelphia and have lived in a number of different places in the US and EVERYWHERE I have been ALL of the immigrants that I've known work their A**ES OFF!!! They have ALL been just like the people you see in this video -- and the people I know and meet EVERY SINGLE DAY in my city. I totally do not understand where this myth of the "lazy immigrant" comes from. I am a second generation citizen of this nation -- my grandparent came from Ireland and Italy respectively -- and they had to work their a**s off too - to gain the same foothold in this country that all recent immigrants that I know and meet each day in my city work SO SO HARD to do, too. Each group of immigrants does this to make a better life for their children and their families. I have never met anyone new to this nation who wasn't working incredibly hard to achieve their dream of making a success of their life in their new home-land. I really wish people would stop maligning one of the hardest working group of people in our nation. It is simply NOT TRUE!!!

@@tombahmafor outsiders, the spices in Nepali momo can be excessive but for Nepalese if the spices are little less, the momo won't taste good.. it's the result of evolution of tongue/palate/taste buds... I wouldn't mind if a foreigner tastes my favorite local dish and says it's too bad because the sense of taste is subjective

A single line on Wikipedia that's unreferenced is the only thing that substantiates that claim. Even the Guinness website doesn't have any such claims. Toronto has 51% of its population born outside of Canada, has residents from over 230 different nationalities over a population of 2.6 million. Queens on the other hand is 48% foreign with a population of 2.2 million. Get the facts before you spout stuff you don't know about.
