Exactly this. I did this to myself trying to be lazy and thawed a steak till cooked in it's own freezer bag. All it needed was the grill marks and he's described it to a fine point. Don't boil you steak, it's not good.

There’s a restaurant in my wife’s hometown that looks like something out of the 80’s as far as the decor goes. The nice thing is that it’s clean and they have the best breakfast of anyone around. They put right on the door, they are serving breakfast from 4:00 AM to 2:00 PM everyday. They’re closed the rest of the day. The key is to go in between 4 and 5 in the morning or 1 and 2 in the afternoon, otherwise they are packed.

my steakhouse in Williamson west virginia was actually pretty great until they jacked up the prices per person it went from 12 to 25$ per person the food was great the décor maybe a little dated with that western theme but the food still rocks because you get soo much more options including the Salad bar

I'm from Meriden and used to go there a lot. It's been there for 4 decades as well as the decor. When I was younger it was great but the quality has gone down over the years. Salad bar is pretty much there to be fiber to help the steak pass through you. If you asked for medium rare you probably would have gotten the level you were looking for.

The wierd after taste from the "chicken" nuggets was probably from old reused oil that's been used to fry multiple different things.
