This was super helpful .. I’m so sorry that you had to stop dancing - I really hope one day you can get back into it just for the love of it 💛 no matter what that looks like … Thanks for validating the things I’m currently feeling 🌻

I’ve never had an eating disorder but I’ve had low self esteem and some disordered eating habits because of dance teachers telling me when I was growing up that I was too fat (at a size 4 jeans mind you) and it really fucks toy up and sticks with you your whole life

I had to leave dance because of other girls commenting on me and I was (and still am) definitely a perfectionist.

I was (am?) a dancer for my entire life- I went to a very strict dance program in college. we were actually weighed as part of our grade. The industry feeds this disordered behavior, unfortunately.

I just came back to dance from taking a break from dance I totally agree I do classical ballet and modern ballet and I feel naked with being in a leo and tights and I also stuggle with an eating disorder I never knew how much dance could cause stress and injurys if I dont take care of my body

Make sure you don't push yourself too far. If you feel like you need a break, then take one.
