it nice that you are trying to put this video out there for people to understand the feeling of those who have the eating disorders but have you put yourself in the shoes of the parents who have to abide by all these rules and meanwhile watch their child starve themselves? you have no idea the pain that disorders like this cause and the utter helplessness that they feel in dealing with it. there is nothing that can describe how it tears you apart inside.

Does anorexia have a comorbidity with ocd? I noticed you talked about numbers and being obsessed with food and weight.

And also since it’s sortof an addiction to being thin or losing weight, couldn’t weening off kinda help like with a nicotine or alcohol addiction? What I mean by that is calorie counting can be healthy if you do it correctly, so couldn’t you slowly start eating more while still maintaining your weight and still being able to count your calories and keep track of food? So it obviously wouldn’t be a cure but you’d be healthier while also still giving the disease what it wants?

“If you had weight to gain” if? How does one get treatment without being underweight? Nobody takes me seriously and I’ve had these issues for like 3 years 🙁 but I’m also POC so we’re half as likely to get a diagnosis or treatment 🙁

For people who need to know the best way to get out of treatment as someone who managed to: 1.eat what they say without fighting: I know its hard and brutally exhausting but the more you do it the less hard it is and eventually they wont be as strict 2.the weight gain is a problem. You can't really fight it because your weight is monitored and its your bodies natural way of healing from the disorder. However if you don't fight it and let your body naturally gain the weight it needs. You can totally lose the weight once you get the crazy people off your back (mainly by gaining weight or moving out when you are an adult) 3.don't kill yourself. I know it sounds nuts. But people who go here actually really do engage in suicide behaviors (like myself) this will only hurt yourself in the end because you are letting them not only steal your food freedom but also your entire life. Eventually things will get better it may take years but eventually the ed gets better and so does the treatment and you will have your life back

I work at an ED treatment center and this would NEVER happen! Completely unacceptable and uncalled for. Also the place where I work is a no touch facility so the staff member shaking you in your sleep is so baffling omg! You're so strong and brave. Keep speaking up and standing up for what's right! Xoxo!

No mixing fruit with your breakfast?? Porridge tastes so much better with fruit. Same with breakfast cereal. Otherwise, it’s so bland. I also think it’s very normal to have these things with fruit. Even toast with banana is a thing.

He sounds like my ex boyfriend that used to hit me. I have severe and enduring anorexia. I weigh very little due to many factors some of which cant be fixed and have stunted bones. The way I'm treated is Disgusting. The care home home wont use the clip on the door to hold it open so i cant access rooms in the house and also try to ban certain foods and drinks. I refuse nutrition as control around food is wrong. Not allowed coffee despite massive faint risk due to low blood pressure. Told I ruin everyones day and abused in kitchens. Im just under 5 stone. Probably dying. Yesterday they refused to print my driving test form. I hope I just pass away at this point.

The 35 minute thing is probably because that’s close to the 30 minute lunch break you get at a job or the 25 minute lunch public schools give. That is actually a challenge I’ve had due to Crohn’s. It hurts if I eat too fast. We need to normalize giving people at least an hour. For something like this, they shouldn’t have a time limit, at least for new patients. Like ‘be done before your next group’ or something. I’m sure the 30 minute standard is doing damage to most people’s GI track even if they don’t have an ED or any sort of GI disorder.

So you’re saying we should have fear foods and restrict and basically only eat things that are zero carb zero fat basically zero protein and zero calories or salt. Girl what. As someone who only eats like three foods I feel you but convincing people on the internet who see you a credible role model and you have influence over why would you make such a nonsensical video

I’ll save it for later if I’ll need to explain my situation and feelings of ed to someone. Than you for making this video, and I hope you stay healthy, happy and ed-free ❤

Thank you for not romantizing the severe disorder, not giving tipps or trigger. I see it's been 4 years since you uploaded this video, but you sound as if you have been already on a very good way - understanding the danger and sharing a positive fight spirit, not being desperate and giving up. You sound as if you would speak, not this devilish sick sadistic voice... I hope you feel good today ! Thanks for this video

I remember so many of these rules. At ERC though they did flush checks too so the person would look in the toilet after you went and say it's okay for you to flush :P and post meal group would just be a normal group like DBT or something until the end of the day when they unlocked your rooms for you and often wouldn't let you do other things like coloring or knitting, just a stress ball or something like that during group

I have a question… I had a gastric bypass about 14 yrs ago… irony… I had complications and still have problems with this forced anorexia and bulimia type situation. Because of vitamin deficiency I had the worst pain… I’m kinda used to it now but at it’s worst there was soso much pain…. Bones, and skin, and muscles, and organs…. So much pain. Do eating disorders generally do this? I can’t imagine the mental added anguish but if the pain is similar you guys are beasts. Mental AND physical…. Physical caused by mental…. Mental added because of physical…. It seems like one of the worst physical cycles. At one point I was also addicted to opioids so addiction I get…. That alone is soul consuming…and that took away the pain…
