This is such a great idea for a video. Thank you so much for making this as I think it’s very common (and you are SO brave! 🌟)….some things I discovered I like in recovery: Peanut butter, mashed potato, ice cream, and cheese! I think our brains also convince us that we are perfectly content to eat the same (often restrictive) foods every day, often several times a day (this has been me anyway). And it’s only by pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones to try different foods that we can distinguish between genuine dislikes and fear foods. On the cheese, there are so many different types of cheese so you may find one you like. I’m not a fan of cheddar but there are other cheeses I actually like. Keep going - you’re amazing!! 🤗

Honestly there are so many different types of cheese, I don’t understand people who just make a blanket statement that they hate cheese. I don’t like cheddar, but I love haloumi and manchego

Keep on going.....and yes you can do it! The opposite thing for me is, that after 15 months recovery there are a lot of foods I thought I loved & were part of my every day life during restricting that I wouldnt ever touch again.

Youre not alone,I have many days where I feel awful emotionally, and being at war with our thoughts about foods we fell unsure about. I fear butter, cheese breads and most sweets, and I know I love bread, but feel I should punish myself for having it! Drives me crazy!!😐

Still watching the video, but I am at the coconut yoghurt and was like thinking about something. Tast changes every couple of years, and yet some tasts are just not for your tastbuds. 😉 I am so proud of you! Greatings from The Netherlands 🇳🇱🙌🏽🙏🏽

I had "hate foods" also... i thought!, but I'm realized: they was my ED's "hate foods", not mine. :) Keep going, Alyce :)

Hi Alyce, I was wondering if you would ever be willing to talk about your journey into becoming a dietitian, why you had chosen that path, what steps you had to take to study or whether you did clinical training/practice after graduating? Having that scientific understanding, has it made it easier or harder in terms of developing your Ed/recovering from it. No pressure, just thought it would be interesting to hear more about, especially as a health professional myself. I wonder how common it is for health professionals in general to struggle with these kinds of conditions. I myself have the scientific understanding but somehow can never translate this into my own recovery

Hello! It’s definitely something I can chat about - honestly it’s tricky because knowledge can be power but knowing so much about food is also fuel for the ED - be keen to discuss it!

I actually like coconut, but dislike that particular coconut yogurt. Might be good to try it in other forms.
