✈️ MY TRAVEL/FOOD BLOG: davidsbeenhere.com/
Any time I have the opportunity to share the incredible flavors and mind-blowing diversity of Indian cuisine with someone, I jump at the chance. Today, come with me as I eat Indian food with an awesome Colombian fashion influencer!
This food adventure would take place at my favorite Indian restaurant in Miami, Bombay Darbar with my friend Carolina, a fashion influencer from Colombia! She’s also my best friend’s girlfriend!
👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: teespring.com/stores/davids-b...
We started with some plain lassi and mango lassi, and papadum with tomato chutney and a mint chutney. The mint chutney contained cilantro and had a bit of sweetness to it. My plain lassi was really sweet and refreshing!
Next, we had chilli paneer, samosa chaat, veg pakoras, and tandoori chicken wings. The chicken wings came with a tamarind chutney and had a delicious smoky flavor and tender texture.
The chilli paneer came with onions and bell pepper and came doused in a chili sauce. Next was the samosa chaat came with chickpeas, sev, yogurt, and tamarind chutney. It was sweet, creamy, and crunchy!
The veg pakoras had a nice crispness to them. The onions and potatoes were fantastic with sweet tamarind chutney.
Then, we jumped on the veg biryani, butter chicken, lamb pasanda, onion kulcha, garlic naan, raita, and fish Goan curry. The tender lamb was incredible, as was the gravy. I loved the cashews in it! I taught Carolina how to tear the naan and how to only eat with your right hand!
The butter chicken was also excellent. The fish Goan curry was full of coconut flavor. Then, I added rice to the remaining sauce. Then, we jumped on the veg biryani and had some of the raita on the side to mix in. Mixing the biryani into any of the sauces is always amazing!
For dessert, we had some rasmalai and pistachio kulfi, which is like a cross between ice cream and sorbet. The rasmalai was creamy and milky, very sweet, and fluffy. I loved the saffron on it. It’s similar to arroz con leche.
The kulfi was dense and contained shaved almonds, crushed pistachios, and a fruity syrup. It was a great way to end our meal!

The practice of eating with the hands originated within Ayurvedic teachings. The Vedic people believed that our bodies are in sync with the elements of nature and our hands hold a certain power. Ayurvedic texts teach that each finger is an extension of one of the five elements: Through the thumb comes space Through the forefinger comes air Through the mid-finger comes fire Through the ring finger comes water Through the pinky finger comes earth When you eat with your hands, you are supposed to do so by joining all fingers together. This is believed to improve our consciousness of the taste of the food we eat. Not only are you feeding your body but also your mind and spirit. When you touch your food with your hands, you’re creating a physical and spiritual connection with it. You’re also much more present in the moment. When food is touched with the hands, there’s automatically more careful attention placed on it - what the temperature is, how much you can carry, how the hand must be held in order to keep the food in it.

Very well said. Especially the mindfulness aspect. You also become aware of how much you are eating. On top of that, you are showing respect to most basic necessity on the planet which is food. That is why many people pray before eating for the blessing as not everyone in the world has food readily. Its about living with the planet and showing respect to everything around us in a conscious manner. This reduces violence and negative thoughts. Positivity only.

No, it didn't... Tamils were doing it long before that.. These North Indian hypocrites shame south Indians for eating with hands in the country but when it comes to Westerners, they bring in the tradition science argument..

Guess who motivated me to do it? David! He had shared a reel of him being quarantined. This is a channel where a real Indian food lover /connoisseur shares the love of Indian food and the lifestyle associated with it. The descriptions are really accurate. It's a different kind of bliss sitting here in Kolkata and watching people eat our food thousands of kilometres away ❤️

If your coming to London to try Indian food, consider visiting a place called GYMKHANA (expensive but good. It has a Michelin star). Otherwise go to an area called Bricklane which is predominately Bangladeshi owned restaurants (these places are more spit and sawdust in comparison to GYMKHANA).
