🇮🇳 BOMBAY DARBAR: / bombaydarbar
You guys know one of my favorite things to do is to share my love of Indian food with others, so I knew I had to do the same with my cousin when he came into town. Come with me as my cousin tries Indian veg food for the first time!

My cousin Alessandro has lived in Puerto Rico in LA for over 20 years and he recently came into town. So, I took him to Bombay Darbar, my favorite Indian restaurant in town to have some mouthwatering Indian veg food.

There, we met up with my boy Rupesh and ate outside. We started with a mango lassi and a sweet lassi. Lassi is a creamy yogurt drink that helps kill the heat after a spicy meal! The mango lassi was thinner than others I’d had, but the sweet lassi was nice and thick!
Then, they brought us some Taj Mahal and Kingfisher Strong beers. Then, they brought some papadum with tomato chutney and cilantro chutney. The papadum was light and crispy, and the chutneys were full of flavor. The cilantro was good enough to drink and the tomato was similar to a mild Mexican salsa.
Then, they brought us bullet naan, garlic naan, and plain naan, along with vegetable biryani, mushroom makhani, aloo gobi, malai kofta, mattar paneer, white rice, and raita. It was a full-on veg feast! I couldn’t wait to dive in.
First, I served him a bit of everything. Then I went with the bullet naan with the mattar paneer, which was creamy and full of yummy tomato-based sauce. The malai kofta was basically a vegetable dumpling in creamy tomato sauce and so tasty as well. I loved mixing the sauces and eating them with the naan!
Next were the biryani and aloo gobi. I added some raita on the side and mixed it into the biryani with my hand. Then, I added some of the tomato sauce to it, which added even more flavor! I loved teaching Alessandro how to eat Indian-style!
The vegetables in the biryani, including the corn, carrots, green beans, and cashews, were amazing! Next was the aloo gobi, which is cauliflower and potatoes with tomatoes. It was so good and I was getting full.
So far, the malai kofta was my favorite. It was at medium spice level along with everything else. It was a fantastic vegetable dumpling, and super filling!
Alessandro was really impressed with the versatility of the dishes, as well as the mix of textures and spices. He also liked the amount of sweetness in some of the dishes! Indian food is the most diverse cuisine on the planet!
