🧳 ALESSANDRO: ...
🇮🇳 BOMBAY DARBAR: / bombaydarbar
You guys know one of my favorite things to do is to share my love of Indian food with others, so I knew I had to do the same with my cousin when he came into town. Come with me as my cousin tries Indian veg food for the first time!
🌎 MY TRAVEL/FOOD BLOG: davidsbeenhere...
My cousin Alessandro has lived in Puerto Rico in LA for over 20 years and he recently came into town. So, I took him to Bombay Darbar, my favorite Indian restaurant in town to have some mouthwatering Indian veg food.
👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: teespring.com/...
There, we met up with my boy Rupesh and ate outside. We started with a mango lassi and a sweet lassi. Lassi is a creamy yogurt drink that helps kill the heat after a spicy meal! The mango lassi was thinner than others I’d had, but the sweet lassi was nice and thick!
Then, they brought us some Taj Mahal and Kingfisher Strong beers. Then, they brought some papadum with tomato chutney and cilantro chutney. The papadum was light and crispy, and the chutneys were full of flavor. The cilantro was good enough to drink and the tomato was similar to a mild Mexican salsa.
Then, they brought us bullet naan, garlic naan, and plain naan, along with vegetable biryani, mushroom makhani, aloo gobi, malai kofta, mattar paneer, white rice, and raita. It was a full-on veg feast! I couldn’t wait to dive in.
First, I served him a bit of everything. Then I went with the bullet naan with the mattar paneer, which was creamy and full of yummy tomato-based sauce. The malai kofta was basically a vegetable dumpling in creamy tomato sauce and so tasty as well. I loved mixing the sauces and eating them with the naan!
Next were the biryani and aloo gobi. I added some raita on the side and mixed it into the biryani with my hand. Then, I added some of the tomato sauce to it, which added even more flavor! I loved teaching Alessandro how to eat Indian-style!
The vegetables in the biryani, including the corn, carrots, green beans, and cashews, were amazing! Next was the aloo gobi, which is cauliflower and potatoes with tomatoes. It was so good and I was getting full.
So far, the malai kofta was my favorite. It was at medium spice level along with everything else. It was a fantastic vegetable dumpling, and super filling!
Alessandro was really impressed with the versatility of the dishes, as well as the mix of textures and spices. He also liked the amount of sweetness in some of the dishes! Indian food is the most diverse cuisine on the planet!

That's pretty awesome that you're showing your cousin Indian food! Now that's love in my books. Why? Because you KNOW David LOVES Indian food and he's sharing something that he loves and he wants his cousin to also feel what he's feeling. You can tell his cousin enjoyed it but you can also tell that David loves his Indian food because he kept eating while his cousin stopped lol! Love how you're teaching him (and me) Indian food customs and cultures. It's these little things like how to pick up the food with your fingers that really fascinates me. I mean, we all know people in India eat with their fingers but didn't know there were different picking up techniques lol. To be honest, everything looked amazing - didn't know veg Indian food looked so delicious! I probably wouldn't be able to tell unless you told me since their sauces are so delicious I feel like the sauces would be the star of the show anyway. Bring more of your family on the show please!

This is just for information. Mr David if your cousin's right hand was injured he could use a spoon to eat Biryani and other dishes with Naan. Not necessarily to eat with hand. Contrary to the belief all Indians when they eat at home or go out to eat they All do not eat with right hand they use the spoon & Fork if they like it.

hey David just a little note. You had two plates a big and small. You don't have to keep the small one on the bigger one. The small one is for the naan and the bigger plate is for you to put your curries and biriyani into, break a piece off of the naan and then pick some kofta up with it and enjoy.

Hello David; Just fyi , another reason for using hands is to first feel the warmth level of your food so that you don’t burn your mouth. By mixing you bring food to right level of warmth of food. Other reason you know well. You must hv observed while drinking tea, we blow air with mouth to bring temp down to a level of drinking without burning your mouth. We love it when you and your cousin enjoy Indian food.

Cool Idea! How about doing more videos introducing people to new cuisines? Your cousin obviously was not a picky eater with a very educable palate to be so amenable to liking everything he tried. Although, Latinos are used to spicy foods. Perhaps introducing Indian foods to someone who is used to Mexican/ Latino type food is easier than it would be if all the person had ever eaten was the mostly bland standard American diet of mostly meat and potatoes and fried food.

Hey David, loving your food videos and watching for quite a while now. I can comfortably say that you know ten times more about Indian food than Indians who live abroad. I know people in India told you we eat with our hands, but nowadays people rarely eat with hands, especially at a restaurant due to cleanliness issues. Also, eating with hands for people that do, it is usually at home. Keep up with the great work, greetings from Canada!

It's not easy for a new guy to be familiar with the way indians eat. I can see how difficult it was for him to eat by hands. But I really liked the video ❤️

The people who wants to avoid protien and healthy diet their most welcome to eat north indian food and one more think its an myth that hindu people r very strict regarding non veg food only north indian and frm west part gujrati people r mosty vegetarian but its nothing related to hinduism nepali people r also hindu and they love their non veg food im frm east part india and my staple food is fish and rice if you go bali in indonesia over their also maximum people love their non veg food and their also hindu so its an wrong concept beacuse foreighner are not properly awair of hinduism we even sacrifise animal also in our hindu ritual western people r tottaly misguided by the north indian culture even what r you eating also unhealthy north indian food which i tottaly avoid beacuse im fitness trainer in bangkok anyway

Being a vegetarian it's so eye pleasing to see u eating veg food😀 food looks delicious😋 it literally makes me salivate 🤤😭 P.s It's not compulsory to eat rice/Briyani with hands, coz in north india we use spoon or fork. In my whole life i haven't seen anyone around me either it's family or frnds eat rice/briyani with hands😊

David , let me point out that only 50% of Hindus are veg...Jain's , Buddhist are also veg... Nowadays even Christians and Muslims are going veg....So India does not have a huge diversity of veg food only because of Hindus...and to add paneer is not popular across India...You went to Kerala , Tamilnadu and Karnataka and the North east ( except the paneer chilly you tried )....Did you see paneer anywhere...Iam not saying we don't eat it, we do , just not popular like the North because we don't need proteins from paneer...We are animal eaters 😂...no pun intended
