Places mentioned in the video:
- Albert Cuyp Market
- De Pijp
Foods we tried in the video (plus my honest experience):
- Fruit juices (the taste was ok but it was quite bitter)
- Xiao Long Bao (The best service in the market, the guy even went the extra mile and gave us some good luck bracelets!)
- Mix of deep fried seafood (We tried shrimp, kibbeling, mussles and calamari. I recommend it for people who like greasy deep fried food. The kibbeling was my favorite!)
- Baklava (By far the best thing we ate in the Albert Cuyp. We tried the walnuts and pistachio and both were delicious!)
- Cannoli (champagne and ricotta - overall it was ok. It doesn't compare to the ones in Italy of course but for those who like sweet treats is worth a try)
- Dutch old cheese (I love Dutch cheese. The flavor of the old cheese we tried was quite strong and for me it was perfect!)
- Arabic Cappuccino, Turkish coffee (the aroma and the flavors were sooo good! I recommend you trying it!)
- Dutch Frituur (We tried the Kroket. i've had better ones but it was good nonetheless)
- Poffertjes (Not my number one choice but it was fun to try)
In this video video we will visit the famous Albert Cuyp market (Albert Cuypmarkt), the market that attracts lots of tourists and locals alike. This is one of the Top 10 things to do in Amsterdam and this is where many Food tour will take you!
As someone who is living in Amsterdam nowadays I rarely visit the Albert Cuyp Market because I usually go to more local neighborhood markets. If I have to rate the quality of the food at the Albert Cuyp overall I would say it was ok, nothing great but nothing bad either. As a local I prefer the smaller farmer's markets for better quality food but overall it was fun trying all the different snacks from the biggest street market in Holland. We tried international food from China, the Mediterranean and also some traditional Dutch food. I hope my video can inspire your travel to The Netherlands. I have many other videos where I share a bit of what is it like to live in Amsterdam in 2021 and I plan on posting more travel content, not only in Holland but around the world, so subscribe to my channel for more videos like this.

The filling in the Kroket is not mash potatoes, it's actually a Roux, more specifically a Salpicon, it's a Roux that's more dense.

The filling of a croquet is not mashed potato, it is a ragout. Originally made with beef, but also available with shrimp or other flavors.

@@FRANCISCARUSOworld she probably did not know how to explain the filling in English. But in this kind of croquettes there is no potato. My father used to make them once a year. Even more delicious then the ones from the snackbar. It is a ragout made from the stock that is made from the beef that goes into the croquettes also.

This is not the largest market of the Netherlands, the largest market is the market in Den-Haag. But it isn't held in a regular street, (it isn't a "street market", its held on a specifically created square, designed specifically for a market. Its also not a market with where you can buy all kinds of delicacies, its a "normal" market. You can buy all kinds of things, electronics, clothing, shoe's but also foodstuff, its fresh fish stalls are the best and largest fish market in the Netherlands, with all kinds of fish, shellfish, crabs eels and many other fish. All the restaurants in den-Haag and surrounding towns probably buy their fish here. It a market in a large multicultural part of town, and you can tell by what is being sold here. I suggest you should visit.
