'm a nurse too. I work in an intensive care unit in Poland. We get patients in very difficult condition, some of them learn to breathe again, eat alone or sit down. I often tell them not to give up, they have tried with little steps to build a ladder. Many of them liked the system very much. Martina, your words reach beyond what you could imagine and help more people than you think. :D

I've completed 1.5 years of nursing school and I decided to take a break. Reading your comment inspired me to continue with this journey.

The idea of what is being productive vs lazy is unfortunately so messed up in our society. Not only our physical health but also our mental health is affected by this. Obviously, we need to have days for ourselves and know that is more than OK because we tackled our mental health that day and that can be work on its own. I'm so happy to see you guys out and having a great time together though :) You two are so supportive of each other and I can barely imagine being in a relationship like that.
@vixxcelacea27785 жыл бұрын
This. To me, I view any laziness as a sign of illness, not "weak will". Why would anyone want to sabotage themselves or feel miserable? I don't believe laziness exists, I think it's a sign that something is off rather than something to judge. The person is in need o help, not blame. I know those days acutely where it's not even "I don't want to" it's "I can't". Take getting out of bed when depression hits hard. Not only is it mentally exhausting, everything in your mind fights doing anything that might help you, but because your brain controls the rest of your body, your muscles literally feel fatigued. People vastly underestimate the toll that mental conditions and state has on the rest of you. It's not a mind over matter when it's the mind being the problem. I can't even imagine having both a physical and mental problem which just cycle each other in a never ending spin of frustration. Martina is probably the strongest person I've ever heard of. Forget lifting contests. It takes a serious champ to do what she does. Then on top of that she feels guilty or something when unable to do all she wants to do. That absolutely breaks my heart. I see enough people I know feel the same way with mental conditions that give massive barriers. It always hurts to watch someone blame themselves or get mad at their disabilities when in reality, I'm just impressed anyone with these garbage issues is just surviving. That in itself is massively impressive, let alone trying to live a normal happy life, that's superman levels of ability.

Martina (and Simon!) are probably the most encouraging KZbinrs I have ever watched. Your positivity isn't forced or fake "everything is wonderful and happy!!!", but genuine and honest. Even though I don't have any chronic pain or illnesses, I find there are always days where I relate to that feeling of being depressed or tired and not wanting to do anything. But to see you picking yourself up, building a ladder, and pushing through helps me to tell myself that I, as an able-bodied person, have literally no excuse to be unproductive and waste the healthy body that I have. Thank you for bringing us on your journey and being vulnerable with us; to see you go through struggles, sometimes failing but often succeeding to build your ladder, is more encouraging than forced happiness for the camera ever will be.

I've always described my period cramps as someone dragging a knife back and forth in my abdomen. I too curl up in a ball when the cramps get too bad. Sometimes the only relief is sleep, but even then, the cramps sometimes wake me up. I used to feel like I was making excuses when I stayed home because of the pain. But now, since I know the date of my next period I just take it as a day off. I'd rather stay home and not need it than go out and suffer because I didn't listen to my body.
@shivitamohan62445 жыл бұрын
Same. Period and pms pain is a struggle. I get depressed often because...it's a cycle, it never ends. As soon as your body gets a break, that time rolls around again and here I am overdosing on muscle relaxers and gravol just to function like a human and stomach some food. I have some conditions but ofc not every solution works for everybody and it takes time to figure out how best to cope and what works. Sending infinite love and support to you and our sisters like us. Currently expecting my period to start tomorrow, I'm already sorely bloated, cramping intensely, nauseous, can't eat much, on the verge of a migraine, getting back pain that makes any position super uncomfortable and gastrointestinally screwed. Womanhood eh? Lol 💜

I feel you girl. Sometimes I feel like stabbing myself with a knife and getting everything out would be less painful then period cramps. But you did great. You both did great. Simon is a precious cupcake.

I am a cancer patient dealing with this challenge for 3 years... building a ladder is the only way I keep my sanity. Thank you for sharing your challenges, it helps me to know there are many others facing similar struggles yet we celebrates those small victories. You are awesome Martina ❤️❤️❤️

Simon exclaiming "look at the line just to get on the escalator" and "so busy here today ;__;" resonated with mine and every other introverted soul who's ever stepped into the city on a weekend RIP. thank you for braving the crowds to bring us this beautiful adventure :D :D :D

1) Dan that was incredibly thoughtful and sweet to think about Martina and take her virtual snowboarding with you. 2) I love how caring and humorous both you and Simon are towards each other and have a high level of self-care to acknowledge that at certain points and times you are limited or tired, but not allowing that to ruin your good mood. 3) I can totally relate with you Martina on the killer period cramps. My first 3 days feel like hell on Earth and I just want to curl up in bed and watch food animes all day...But alas I'm right in the middle of midterms so I build my ladder and pull through classes and watch food animes when I make it back to my dorm...with edible cookie dough to soothe my sweet tooth. 😁

Last year I was formally diagnosed with arthritis in most of my joints, even though I knew something was going on long before that as stairs became murder and I couldn't really run anymore. Your videos have done a lot to help me accept the diagnosis and realize that my life isn't over because of it. Your videos remind me that it's okay if I can't do as much in a day as I used to be able to, and be kind to myself. Much love from the homeland to both of you!

Martina I feel you! I spent Sunday night finishing an assessment while my uterus was trying to kill me. The joys of womanhood.

This is so cute. There is a wetland area where I live where someone made a fairy village right off the path.

Aww Martina, you and your garden are both so cute, I can just tell how happy the collecting makes you. I loved the intro because it shows how you always take things one step at a time and makes it clear that just because you and Simon don’t show it in every video, it doesn’t mean that each day isn’t one more wrung in your ladder

I use to get the worst cramps for 2-3 days during my 5-6 day period. As I have gotten older, switched to Diva Cup they decreased significantly. I have an IUD now so it's not n issue anymore. Getting the IUD was one of the best things I ever did. I'm in my 40s and never want to be pregnant and also was told by spine doctor that it be in my best interest to not be pregnant so it works out. Your gardens are adorable!

I love the "build a ladder" mindset I literally use it every day. It's helps me get out of bed even on really low days. Thanks Martina!!!~~
