This item works for me fine. (2009 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER) You just need a lot of patience to install it. I suggest tried to splice it at the license plate light to avoid drilling. And you can always use heat shrink tubing to replace the bulky PCB cover. To align the Laser, turn it on, loosen the head cover about half a turn, (Do not removed) then tighten and loosen the head cover until you get the proper alignment. The laser should rotate while you are doing this.

Seems like you don't have much patience for such tasks.. :) lol Engineering stuff to work even when the vendor has given you crap hardware to start with is usually the fun bit.. :D

not worth the effort. they are not waterproof, and the wiring is angel-hair thin. not worth the effort

it works perfectly fine. how is something "mythbusted" if someone is not competent on how to install it. haha. to all those who have patience and a brain, more power

if you want to deal with angel-hair wires & zero waterproofing = enjoy yourself. these little turds are cheap, cheesy, garbage. not worth my effort to install correctly.

I agree with some of your viewers. The unit that I purchased works perfectly. I mounted it top center of license plate, against plate frame. My unit had a small module in line, which I chose to leave as is behind the laser assembly. As for alignment, remove cap, rotate screw that holds laser in (moves in and out) until outer cap fits snug against it and light beam is where you want it. Don't over-tighten. The cap produces the line. Position of laser screw sets how far the cap can be threaded in. Mine is in parallel alignment with the far top blue line on backup camera image. Didn't need to put loctite on threads. You should give it a 2nd chance. By the way, 200mw power is standard for that type of light and is plenty for effect.

One word: LEVELING. If you're going to put an audio intro to your videos, level the sound to your narrative sound. Thank you.

I know you don't wish to use the laser but if you put Goop from Home Depot, it would seal the unit and hold the cap firmly in place. Unfortunately to get these devices for the price they are sold at, you have to made major modifications to install them.
@imstricken068 жыл бұрын
there are not adjustments to be made. there are 2 set screws on the rear that mount the laser to the mount. the line was off center from the factory. dont forget to subscribe! and add me on instagram: @imstriken06 also sign up to my new car forum: www.GreaseMonkeyForum.com

Maybe try setting the alignment of horizontal laser before finishing the install. It's cheap Chinese junk as always but if you use initiative you can make anything work correctly. I believe you installed it incorrectly

Smh, next time just pay a professional to do it for you, im sure they will make it work perfectly.

It sounds like a fairly simple installation simply went bad and you got frustrated with it. I don't know what installation instructions came with the unit (if any) but it sounds like they should have said (if they didn't) to connect the unit up to a 12 volt source to check the orientation of the laser in the mount before hard wiring it to the vehicle. It sounds like that very simple step would have saved you a great deal of grief and solved your problem(s). The laser would be correctly aligned and wouldn't be loose and wobble at all since there would be no need to remove the cap. I don't see having to solder a couple of extra connections to splice in a length of wire as that big of a deal. However, that would depend on someone's skill set I guess. If you were to use a larger gauge wire at that point it would solve your issue with the very thin wire breaking at some point due to stress. I realize all this is hindsight which is always 20/20 but it may help someone else who may read this before trying this install for themselves.

the frustration grows. angel-hair thin wires, the unit isnt waterproof, and its super cheesy. not worth even 20mins of install.

From what I can see in your video, it is just a round housing for the laser. I would guess it is up to you, to make sure it is aligned right. Also about the size of the wire, you sound like that is a sign of a bad product. It is below 12v, so that size is fine. Regarding the issue with that big thing in the middle, I don't see it. Cut the wire, crimp on some car clamps, job done. Either you had a bad day or a really bad day but your rant just makes you sound like you have a really really bad day (put in a nice way).

From what I've seen online, you're supposed to tie this in with your brake lights. It's supposed to be a brake light.
@paulinhofagundes125 жыл бұрын
If the problem was the removable plastic cylinder protecting the resistor, then all you hat to do was pass the resistor through the hole and after that reattach it. Or you could just cut the wire and solder it once it was passed through the hole. Can't believe he went trough the trouble of recording and editing just to show how lazy and/or dumb he is. This video just made me laugh. Dude, seriously, take this video off, it just makes you look bad.
