In this video, I share with you a case where a buyer had filed a payment dispute (chargeback) on an order they made from me after I shipped it out and delivered it to them. It's very important to make sure you use shipping with tracking number. Without the proof of delivery, you will lose the chargeback dispute and end up with no money and no items.
This is a common scam method some people will try to use to get their money back and keep free items. But even in the honest situations where the buyer really didn't know because someone either used their card or it was stolen, it's still important to protect yourself from this happening to you.

In a lot of cases there can be genuine fraud. But ebay should be the party who absorbs the loss in those situations. They are the ones who process payments and decide which transactions go though. If ebay and the bank authorize a fraudulent purchase then they should pay for it. Unfortunately that's not usually how it works though

I agree. For the most part, every time this has happened to me, ebay DID refund me as long as I proved I had shipped out the order BEFORE this chargeback claim was made. I think they've done a good job at least in my experience in selling.

@@breakaway2x Well that's good. Probably varies by item type. There are a lot of scammers that create fake accounts and farm feedback for a few days, then buy an iphone and pretend you delivered an empty box or the wrong phone. Ebay typically has paid out the "buyer" in these situations, but lower value items they probably just take the loss on both sides.

Thank you Ghayoor! Yes, I'm not that advanced in anything....but what I do think I can offer is the ability to simplify and make it clear and concise in plain language. Actually, I make most of my videos because of this reason. I myself look for help, solutions, videos and I find that so many just make it complicated and take too long to get to the point. So it motivates me to make my own videos and try to make it short, clear, and straight to the point.

What about when buyer says he or she received something completely different than what was purchased. this happened to me, I had to upload a picture of the item that I sold, and the buyer uploaded a picture of something completely different, and the bar one. Does anyone know how this could have been handled differently and PayPal rule in the Seller favor? I can’t appeal this to Ebay because Ebay said if the financial institution rules in the buyers favor there are no more appeals

Hello and good morning I have the similar situation the buyer file a chargeback after items received and after 3 months after purchase, not recognize the transaction, I send with full tracking and signature confirmation, as item is a camera lens buyer pay by PayPal, buyer file a chargeback after they has been kicked out of eBay, eBay reply “buyer violated eBay rules”with 4 feedback (3 of them buying camera related items) and violated too many rule ? EBay is holding my account hostage, meaning no way to use the fund from my new sale and eBay reply will take up to 4 to 8 weeks? Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Anything help, thank you.

Thanks for video, my case: I sold a camera in March, $2100. Buyer gets camera, all's good, in June buyer disput purchase, don't know why. I overlooked the dispute in my Ebay messages ( don't check often. Nothing looked urgent) I finally got an urgent message that eBay was going to take $900 out of my account. i called ebay 3 times and basically Ebay says because I missed the 2 week window to appeal dispute I'm screwed out of $900, any ideas as to what to do noe would be appreciated, thanks

Hello, this just happened with me. sold a $230 item 9 months ago, have proof of tracking and delivery on June 26. but the buyer opened up a dispute on Jan 1. The worry i am having is that I was supposed to respond by the 6th of January. I didnt because I was in hospital with pneumonia and fluid in my lungs for last two weeks and didnt see the dispute message until this week, after the deadline to respond. I have since sent a message to the buyer showing the tracking/delivery proof but im worried that since it wasnt a direct response to the dispute, I feel i may get the shaft. I am hoping you might know what department or who i can I get ahold of at ebay that will actually reach out to & send this proof to the banking institution because i have spent over 4 hours of recorded conversation with 6+ ebay cs all ultimately telling me different things and not actually doing anything about helping fix?

Sorry to hear this! I'm actually going through another one right now lol. So here's the problem. Unless you know the buyer's financial institution, there is no way for us to communicate directly with them. We can only communicate with ebay. I am going to call them again to ask if they can tell me the buyer's financial institution so I can try to contact them directly but I'm pretty sure ebay is not allowed to disclose that information. In most cases, the buyer's financial institution will favor the buyer in the outcome dispute. The buyer will get their money back. What SHOULD happen though you should be protected by Ebay Seller Protection since you have a full tracking number that proves it was delivered. So what Ebay usually does is they will protect you by not withdrawing the funds out of your account even though ebay still has to fork over the money to the buyer's financial institution since they lost the dispute. That's what always happens in my cases. I win the ebay case, closed in my favor but then buyer opens dispute with financial institution and few months later they win the case but ebay protects me. So I'm afraid there is no one directly that can be reached at ebay except customer service which can relay you to their accounts / disputes department and that's probably who you are talking to. All they can do is say they will file an appeal for you and forward the information to the bank. The bank will once again decide to either uphold the original verdict or overturn it. But without worrying about that part, we ebay sellers just need to focus on ebay protecting us in these situations. Make sure you ask them about Ebay Seller Protection for you since you have provided proof of delivery. Good luck! I'm always hesitant to sell and ship high cost items because of this. If you're financially ok and can take some hits and losses here and there, then nothing to worry about. It's part of business...you lose some money now but you make more later. But if you are not making enough to cover your losses, then I would not sell or ship out high cost items in the future.

Hi I sold a £600 Gucci bag was delivered next day delivery the buyer even messaged me and said they look forward to receiving the bag then said they never purchased the bag I have proof of delivery including gps coordinates everything what’s my chances ? Hope you can help me

I highly doubt your bag was even authentic, nobody would sell designer goods of that value to be ripped off by eBay fees or have the high potential to be scammed. I don't know who the sellers are to complain when they sell enough counterfeit goods on there anyway.

Hopefully you have full tracking number to show proof it (will be) delivered. Ebay will most likely protect you if you meet the two criterias 1) it was shipped out within the handling time you specified and 2) you provided full tracking that shows it was delivered. Even if the buyer's financial institution sides with them, you won't lose the money as ebay will cover it.
