So you shipped out an item to the buyer and tracking information confirms it was delivered. Shortly after, the buyer files a payment dispute with their financial institution claiming the reason "Buyer does not recognize the transaction" and are trying to get a full refund back!
It seems like a scam attempt. They already got the shipment AND they are trying to get their full money back? As long as you have provided full tracking information that proves it was delivered to the buyer, you will be protected from these kinds of cases. Initially, the financial institution after two months of waiting, settled the case in the buyer's favor. So what you have to do is appeal the decision to ebay and submit to them the proof it was delivered to the buyer. As you can see, ebay then reversed the decision in my favor and protected me.

Is it a scam attempt? After you shipped the item and it arrives to them, they open a payment dispute with their financial institution claiming they don't recognize the transaction. Make sure you have full tracking information to prove to ebay you successfully delivered it to them. Then you will be protected by the seller protection program. Hello! I’m in a similar case. Only difference is that the package hasn’t been delivered but it’s on the way to the buyer. The buyer bought an item and payed in full. I shipped the item on the 22nd of December. The buyer open a case on the 25th of December saying they don’t recognize the transaction. I have a tracking number as well. Will I be protected? One buyer made a chargeback as item not as described, he claimed he recieved the item and it was damaged via the exterior when he picked it up and the item inside was broken, i ooened an investigation via the post office who told me that no damages had been reported to the package. I told him to open a damage claim if what he said os true. He just made a chargeback and ebay refunded him from my funds available... he kept the item and received the funds also. Double scamed me both the buyer and ebay. What should i do? This is very concerning as a seller and im thinking of queting ebay as its a place very convenient for scams to occur since ebay 99.99 % of the times sides with buyers

Sorry to hear this! Yes, if a buyer opens an item not as described case, sellers pretty much have zero protection at this point. Item not received cases are easier to protect yourself by simply having a valid tracking number to prove it was delivered. But item not as described is virtually impossible for sellers to defend. The only way to get around it is to just accept a return and refund them when you get it back. Otherwise the buyer will pretty much get their moneyback and keep the item. In your case it sounds like they already completed the case and got their refund. There is very little chance to get that case overturned and get either your money back or the item returned unless the buyer decides to do it out of their own goodwill. As an ebay seller, I would avoid selling any very expensive items unless you are a company that has insurance to cover for these situations. If you are a private/personal seller, it is high risk selling expensive items, especially items that have a high rate of issues such as electronics (item not as described). It's hard being an ebay seller if you are not an insured company/business. I pretty much just try to sell low ticket items and when situations like this happen and there's nothing I can do about it, I just eat the loss and move on and focus on making more sales. Sometimes it's better to just eat a $25 or $50 loss and move on and keep your account in good standing to sell more another day.

£2,700 scammed today morning. Customer purchased back in October. Same situation. Sent with UPS so I think I am covered but only time will tell.

My case essentially involves a buyer purchasing a product valued at $213 on March 7th. However, on March 23rd, the buyer filed a dispute, claiming the transaction wasn't recognized. The item has already been shipped to the buyer's house in the US. I hope that by referring to this video, I can successfully obtain a refund and overcome this challenge. TYSM

If the item has already been shipped out and you have full proof of tracking number that shoes it was delivered (uploaded and shipped out in time), then you will be eligible for ebay seller protection and they will not take the money out from you. The buyer's financial institution may still side with the buyer and get money back for them but ebay's seller protection means you won't have to lose your money. The money will be paid by Ebay itself.

What to do if you’re selling digital item like xbox gift cards, it’s not a digital product so it don’t have any tracking id. What to do in that case if buyer opens up a dispute that he don’t recognise the payment. Even though i have screenshots of the codes I delivered to them through ebay chat.

This is the risk of digital products. Without a tracking number, ebay usually will close the case in the favor of the buyer. But as you said, you can always give it a try and just talk to a cust. rep, and tell them you have proof of delivery and see if that person might be lenient and give you a break. Some agents are helpful and others are not.

Happened today from EBay UK. I actually got the amount settled to my bank AM from EBay but then the dispute came later this morning. The problem is, if they withheld the funds that we needed it would’ve meant: A: We don’t have the item to sell elsewhere B: We don’t have the money from the item that we needed I’ll never sell on eBay again. I can’t sit 2-7 weeks waiting for this process. Usually if people are selling items it means they needed the financial support from the sale and waiting this long could cause a whole host of problems.

sorry to hear this. Yes, these disputes usually takes a couple months give or take to conclude. The best thing to do is always ship out with full tracking number that shows proof it was delivered AND ship out on time according to your handling times set in your listing. Then ebay seller protection should kick in and protect you from these types of payment disputes, so even if the buyer wins, you won't lose the money as ebay will cover it.

Thanks for making this video. This just happened to me today from a zero feedback scammer. Luckily it was just £50, but I'm still pretty pissed. I'm disputing the case of course. I'll know not to sell anything expensive on eBay in the future as it could have been a lot worse.

as long as you provided full tracking that shows it was delivered and you shipped it out according to your handling times, then you'll be covered by ebay seller protection guarantee. This means even if the buyer's financial institution favors them and they get their money back, you won't lose the money cuz ebay will pay for it.

Update: ebay finally responded to the dispute case. They say the buyer's bank has sided with the buyer, but I'm still protected by ebay's seller protection so they won't take any money away from me.

I sent a package, it arrived to the buyer and it says that he filed a payment dispute 3-4 days after for the reason "The buyer did not recognize the transaction". I checked eBays website and it says that I am protected for this dispute and no action is needed on my behalf. Is there anything you recommend I do? I have the USPS tracking number, and it shows on eBay and USPS that it was delivered to a parcel locker.

If it says on ebay your are protected for this dispute that's great news! You don't have to do anything! Even if the bank favors the buyer, the money won't come out from you but ebay will cover you for it. That's ebay seller protection. I have that too and it's great when it kicks in!

What if you are a dropshipper and you shipped the product through Amazon and you have TBA tracking number then this case how you should respond to the dispute or this transection

Ebay now accepts TBA Amazon Logistics tracking numbers and shows you full tracking information. If it was delivered successfully to the buyer's address, then take screen shots of the evidence from Amazon tracking, the photo the delivery person took, and also the delivered stats on ebay and submit that in your appeal / response to the dispute.

Si aún no lo ha enviado, le recomendaría que no lo envíe, de lo contrario podría perder el artículo si no obtiene el resultado del pago. Comunicarse con el comprador por qué abrió una disputa de pago. Descubra si querían cancelar el pedido y sería más fácil para usted cancelarlo indicando el motivo "el comprador solicitó cancelar" para no recibir un defecto del vendedor.

I have a buyer who disputed after I shipped the shoes to authentication so they haven’t been delivered yet did they just scam me and I’m left dead in the water due to the shoes not yet reaching the authenticator?

if you ship the item to anyone other than the buyer's shipping address, you'll put yourself at risk if they open a case on you. Ebay will see you didn't ship the item to the buyer's address but to another place (ie. authenticator) then you'll lose the case. Make sure you only ship to the exact address of the buyer. Ive just had this today. i sold iphone 15 pro £1025 plus post. they recieved 11am this morning and put payment dispute for unreconised transaction. 5 days after paying. money on hold etc. i have tracking and reciept. Hope i win the case... scamming ~@£$%
