I don't work on radios now that I'm retired but in the past when I've had a problem like that I build a new circuit board back to a usable connection.

You missed the trimmers and pads in around the middle of the board as well George .

I'd get that fixed up! Make a little PCB that takes the place of the parts that are lost :)

Hi George, There sure are some unscrupulous people selling radio gear on eBay and yep “ it worked last time I used it!” is classic bull. I would hate to think what your man paid for it. OK I took a look at the schematic and service information and apart from the damage around the RD16HFF1 MOSFET I am concerned about C233 popping it’s lid as this is a 16V cap on a 8v regulated line which would suggest the regulator has gone short and it may have been over volted. I have all the gear to repair the rig and I am happy to do this free of charge for you providing someone pays for the parts and shipping to the UK. Best Regards John

Hi Johnboy, hope you are well mate. Yeah, its a minefield on there for sure. There are other pads damaged in the middle of the board too. I had forgotten about those until I seen Ray's comment. Total bastardization in its finest form lol.

I had one of the second editions, but it was still new when I sold it on eBay, I tried it once and that was it I didn't like the radio, and the knobs were very cheap

Sadly that there are hackers everywhere that ruined a bunch of radios and then pond them off to unsuspecting treasure hunters. I have repaired several of the Cobra 200 which are not my favorite thing to do. Most of the time I would use the old fashioned push through components to replace the missing resisters, cap, and diode that are missing on the board and replace the FET. These radios are not a lot of fun to repair since you do have to practically have to dissemble the whole radio just to get to bottom of the board making the repair costly and time consuming.

A shame. I would get the schematic diagram and run hard wires back to the driver and use discrete components to replace those that have been destroyed. It may bring it back to life.

thats sounds a lot easier than it actually is though lol

I remember these coming out, and the chronic disappointment from owners the first time around. A radio even worse than the Lincoln II.

The low power 1969 version was the better one probably the cheaper one and the rarest because everyones power mad. They look nice but i like the Magnum S9 better. Probably another drifty pile but damn they look good. But i would not part with what people want for them now.

George so many dishonest sellers in the hobby. Every time I read or hear the comment "no way of testing but it worked last time" in over 30 purchases over last year, surprisingly not one radio worked that's what caused my KZbin channel Pull_It_Apart_Paul to be created
