The magnifier glass is called "Fadenzähler" in Germany. Back in the days it was used to count fibre strings in the textile industry. I still use this every day at work. Got to say I'm a screen printer, we use them to count our mesh and to check the gauge pins.

Cool, thanks for the insight.

Those large black open ended wrenches seem to be the sizes commonly used for the copper/brass compression fittings used to join plastic waterpipes. Every plumber would have those sizes.

Fantastic deal on your ebay find! Those din895 wrenches used to come in Kramer loader tool kits, great fo use on hydraulic fittings!

those wrenches with swiveling heads are useful in automotive workshops, for things that are hard to reach where a ratchet is too big and a normal wrench has the wrong angle. They're actually quite expensive. They are a bit of a niche tool, and not really neccesary.

The magnifying glass is called a Fadenzähler Lupe, thread counter .

Yes it's an inspection set for a weaving machine. As he said i think also the plastic things are gauges. But i don't know exactly how they are used. These things are very specific for one machine. Generally such gauges are used to determine if the threads have enough or to much tension. And you would count the horizontal and vertical threads with the magnifier to determine if they are pressed together to much or to little.

Did the Elora brand once belong to Gedore?

The Snap-On Junkie might be interested in the zero-offset ring-spanner. He seems to have a thing for 'em. I have some mid-80's Dowidat wrenches and I like their slenderness. Feel great for light-duty work. Similar feel to Stahlwille.

Do you also use these vintage tools, or do you only collect them? And how do you store them? I buy a lot of single tools because the sets are often to expensive for me, unfortunately this means that I don't get the stands/holders and pouches from the sets. So how do you organise these wrenches and sockets from your score.

Are the holes in the Dowidat no 34 the same diameter as the shaft of the mystery ratchet?

The red/green things look like seam rippers. Do they pull apart?
@GermanToolReviews7 жыл бұрын
I just looked at them and they don't appear to come apart.

7:30 they are called joint socket wrenches (hardy never seen in Us tool reviews!?) no specific use what i know of. They should come in staggered near sizes(?) 12mm in one end and 13mm in the other 14-15 and so on. Learn to use them and you'll love them.

The red screwdriver looks like the Wiha 00328, as it appears to have a phillips head inside the handle. A "Umsteckschraubendreher" i believe the germans would call it...

How about a video on Cutting Pliers, like Kinipix Twin-Force, X-Cut, Wiha Bi-Cut and compare them, and what about a bit comparison video against all the German Tool companies and see who's holds up the longest and grips the best without cam out, maybe a video on Torx and Hex holding tips, like Wiha Magic Ring, Wera HF (Holding Function) profile, Wiha Torx Plus, and how's the stainless steel screwdrivers holding up? Is that still going on and did ya add more brands to your list on testing? What about a German Wood Handle Screwdriver comparison and dissection of each to show who's is built the best

Matador is a quite o.k. brand in my view. For homegamers it's available in e.g. Bauhaus hardware stores. All in all a bit cheaper than the Wera. If im realy in the need of some tools and the hardware stores is my only option, i would most likely go with them.
