MrMuis06 That would be great but I have been saying the same thing for literally YEARS! I have yet to see anything even come close. If eBay were to charge just 3% instead of being GREEEDY with their 10% they would still make MILLIONS if not BILLIONS because so many more people would then want to list with them! When you sell thousands worth each month it isn't that bad but when you are a small time seller like myself that 10% really hurts! They say it isn't that much but they are not even taking into consideration the cost of the item, shipping supplies, gas to/from the Post Office etc. I am not holding my breath!
@xxxxxnightwingxxxxx6 жыл бұрын
I do a lot of fba and hardly even notice the fees not like I do on ebay. But then again I source only really good stuff with high profit returns. I have 1/2 the amount of items on amazon compared to my ebay store and sell 3 times as much on amazon. So that shows things just move way quicker on amazon...But I still do like Ebay cause it allows me to sell items I'm restricted on amazon.

all I want to know is why im getting charge 3 different fees. First of all I have sold less than 30 items so I pay no insertion fees. I sold an item for $670 and I included the shipping (free shipping I paid for it) ones the buyer paid me the $670 I shipped the item and I only got deposited to my pay pal account $650 thats $20 fee for what I don't know. Then Obviously I payed the shipping from there -$13. that leaves me with $637, I went to deposited that money from my paypal to my bank and again another fee -$9. What I got deposited into my bank account was $628 dlls out of a sale of 670. But wait the final sale fee gets invoice at the end of the month so now I own ebay another $67 dlls the 10% of the sale. First Fee was the instant -$20 Second Fee was -$9 to deposited from paypal to my bank Third Fee was -$67 final sale fee that I have to pay to ebay now. Thats $96 not counting the shipping ( which I choose to pay to sell the item faster) whats the $20 charge is what im wondering?

Great video. On eBay Australia, I am finding it more difficult to make any profit due to the escalating higher eBay fees. Example: If you go over your 40 free listings per month, the Insertion fees as of December, 2018 are AU$1.65 (under $100) AU$3.85 (over $100) plus another 10.9% in final value fees. PayPal adds 2.9% to invoices + $0.30. My invoice for last 2 months for eBay and PayPal combined were AU$110 for AU$550 in sales, which is -20% of my profit margin.
@ErikawithaK5 жыл бұрын

Great video. It was not confusing, pretty straightforward. It was frustrating to learn that you lose about 13% (ebay and paypal combined) of each transaction not to mention other people are aggressive with their pricing so you are already selling the item at a discount, and that's not mentioning shipping supplies, ugh, haha. Makes me rethink selling some things through eBay.

Hi, nice video, what are the percentages of money you loose from the total selling price if you look at all costs from eBay / Paypal after a month? I love the big buying public at eBay but the percentage in total is sometimes 25%! I am looking into Facebook Market now and to the Syscoin Blockmarket win / osx application ( syscoin.network/syslinks ), here you can sell without the loss of a big percentage, and your listing cannot be removed if you use a word or picture that eBay does not like or that you are not allowed to sell. Do you thinks that selling on a blockchain (power to the people) will be bigger in the future than selling on webpages and/or eBay.

So someone let me know if I'm wrong but what I'm understanding is very roughly speaking if you sell something for $20 in fees you're charged approximately $6 plus let's say another $3 for shipping would leave you with $11 in Prophet minus your cost for that item let's say $6 which would leave you with the total profit of $6 is this roughly correct I'm looking for a slightly overestimated base percentage for the fees I will be charged

@ErikawithaK6 жыл бұрын
the insertion fee is per insertion. you are given an invoice at the end of the month for them, but you are charged per item listed, unless you have free listings available to you. typically if you do its 50 free listing every month. which means every month you can list 50 items without having to pay an insertions fee for them. that isn't available to everyone tho. before you publish a listing, ebay will let you know how much it will cost just to list it.

So I just sold my first item on eBay. It was a video game so nothing big but it was 74$ with shipping. I sold the item, got the money in my paypal account, and it was on hold which I know happens to everyone if you’re a first time seller. It charged that money for shipping which is fine and I knew that the 10% for eBay was going to come at some point too but I got a message on eBay saying here’s your invoice, it needs to be paid immediately. So I go click on the button and it takes me back to PayPal and I’m not really sure what to do at this point. Do I need to pay that invoice out of pocket? Is it going to subtract it from the money that’s being held already? There’s no clear info on this

joe pish is best if you take actual pics of your items because customers like to see what they're really buying you will definitely be making more sells that way I suggest you get a scale that reads ounces if you are selling small items and print your own labels at home because eBay gives you a discount if you do it with them plus you will avoid the waiting in line and be saving money start selling as a personal account and only upgrade to a store if you going to list over 200 items or more that's when you start saving with a store you can always call eBay and ask for more listing space you start with a limit of 30 listings a month but like I said if you call them and tell them that you have more items they will upgrade your number of listings a month don't worry if they ask you where you are getting your items from. Just remember the first 50 listings are free then you will have to pay $.30 cents per listing. you will be charged 12.9% between PayPal and eBay that's $1.30 every $10 ➕ another $. 30 cents for PayPal if you are selling instruments is lower like she mentioned on the video which I think is 3.5% plus 2.9% plus. $.30 cents I'll let you do the math I hope this helps you it's fun selling I guarantee you it is

I've noticed that I am being charged @16.35 per month automatic fee aside from my final value fees. Does everyone pay the automatic monthly fee or am I subscribed to something that I'm not aware of?
@BillieShelton6 жыл бұрын
Patrick Greany hi, saw no one answered, I don’t get an automatic fee like that, just my insertion and sales fees. You should probably call eBay.
@fgbowen6 жыл бұрын
Billie Shelton and you have over 50 items, correct? But under 50 ...there is no fee? Correct? Help me figure this out please. Thanks.
@BillieShelton6 жыл бұрын
I have more than a hundred items. If I go to my account and look at my charges I have individual charges of $0.35, not a lump sum.
@BillieShelton6 жыл бұрын
It's also not the cost of a store so I don't know what it could be. I'm fairly new to this, though.
@ErikawithaK6 жыл бұрын
i'm a little late to this convo.. could be because you went over your free items. unless you are subscribed to quick books or if you have a store and didnt realize it? i'm not sure. if it's $16.35 every month that sounds like it might be a subscription. go to you account where it says subscriptions- see if you have any? if not, on your main page go to the account tab and you can see how much you are getting charged for .. click on fees andit should have a break down of what you are being charged for.. i hope this helps.

Thank you for that I just now started selling on eBay and unfortunately I had no idea how much the fees were. 😁
@constantauctions6 жыл бұрын
The fees are fine. remember the more you are paying the more you are making. I pay about 2,400 a month in fees.

In short selling on eBay is too expensive and not worth the trouble for most ppl.. I sold three $100 items... the item fees were $30 then $6 fees for shipping them... If I would've raised the asking price to offset the fees then I'd have very few ppl interested but with the fees I profit next to nothing and it makes it pointless to sell on eBay... This has been my experience in the past were I told myself never to sell on eBay again but things haven't changed and they are expensive as ever.... I had Much better luck selling on letgo but that platform is for local areas where it makes it hard to find a larger customer base as outsiders can't view your listing unless they deliberately search your exact area... Letgo and others need to step up their game to actually compete with Amazon and eBay without changing the excessive fees they do...

I know O my God....I have a bunch of good stuff to sell but they can charge you 4 times for one item...almost up to 15% of your total sale when you add it up....way overboard...you sell something for $100 and they can take around $15 bucks of that in all fees and charges and more....go simple seller
@ErikawithaK5 жыл бұрын

Will i be able to quit my part time job doing this? Id rather be my own boss while going to school than slave at another place
@ErikawithaK6 жыл бұрын
depends on how many hours you are willing to put into this... depends on what kind of stuff you have access to sell. depends on your profit margins... kind of a loaded question but there is definitely money to be made! i would recommend keeping your job while you start out reselling and if you find you are making enough money reselling to quit, then there you go! lots of luck!

Tip 1) Make a new account for 50 free listings each month. (You won't get the 50 free listings until you sell a few things, so make sure the items are great w/high selling rate.) Tip 2) Call Ebay every-time your account wont let you list more items and tell them you have alot more items to sell. (Make sure you sold some things so they see you are legit.) Tip 3) NEVER LIST MORE THAN 50 ITEMS ON ONE ACCOUNT! (THE GOLDEN RULE) Tip 4) NEVER USE THE OPTION GOOD TIL CANCELED! (using this option and/or the 200 free promotional listings is a RECIPE for a larger monthly bill. Ebay will automatically relist your item if it doesnt sell while charging you $.30...and if you didnt sell alot of items at the end of the month, these fees will pile up quick!) Tip 5) If you dont want an Ebay store because of fees and sell less than 200 items, these methods can work for you!
