Loved this one. There's a 0.0% chance Jride is netting $1000/day. I used to watch his videos just to laugh at him, but I can't even do that anymore. I feel so sorry for the people about to send him money for a membership. The positivity and frozen smile are supposed to suck you in. It's amazing that people can listen to these emotional stories on persevering in door-to-door pest control sales, but the world is full of naive re-sellers desperate for connection.

You watch his videos… he gets YT ad revenue. Stop watching him… there are too many full-time YT’ers that also resell. Without YT $$$, most would not be able to do what they do and live how they live.

Great conversation - feels like a PPP bonus show. I enjoy both channels BTW. But the graph you show (quite scary) explains why it seems like I have to work harder every year to make sales on eBay. Something needs to be done to fix this company.

Full-time reseller, here to say that most people who are killing it on eBay as their main platform don't have time to invest in a youtube channel or social media. That's why you're not hearing about it as much as all the negative garble. Ok, I've said enough, back to packing orders!
@TheJoshGalt2 ай бұрын
I don't think 1hr of live video a week has that much of an impact on sales. We all work on our businesses 10hrs+ a day.

@@TheJoshGalt y’all are the exception and I applaud you for it, I was really talking about ‘most’ people.

You are correct. Majority of the people doing over half a million a year or more are not on KZbin and have no interest in showing their face online. They do not want to reveal where they source or business model which is understandable.

46:09 another thing i have always preached is to NICHE UP not down and yep i got a lot of heat for that in the comments section! thank you Scott for Approving My Preaching lol! Grumpy Granny is 100% correct i'm glad she is seeing this and many others are finally Seeing what i stated many times is 100% true if you have ONE niche YOUR screwed it will not carry your business now if your a hobby seller or part time seller (meaning you have a 9-5) yeah you can have ONE niche but if your a full time seller meaning reselling is your the source of your income (might have a spouse that works but YOUR Work is reselling you don't have a 9-5) then Niching down was the WRONG way to go If you niche up and out then if one category or one type of item is not selling ALL THE OTHER ITEMS or CATEGORIES will pick up the slack its just logical , common sense and Murphy's Law
@joeambly68072 ай бұрын
You can niche down into 1 niche if enough money exists in it. Most niches don't have enough money flowing, but if you find one with high enough value you absolutly can. Selling musician instruments is a FANTASTIC niche, but most everything sellers don't want to spend the capital or know enough to really make it work
@bennystratton77342 ай бұрын
@@joeambly6807 well then im an exception to the rule as i sell Musical Instruments! and why i say i am a TRUE everything Seller I will Sell JUST about anything YOU have to to make Reselling work Niching down will NOT be in the best interest of someone that is doing this Full time ONLY way Niching down will work or be okay is if your alleged a Hobby seller (that is just an excuse to evade paying taxes) or a Part Time seller these 2 type of sellers DO NOT have to make certain amount of money for bills (house and business) they are doing this for FUN MONEY so they could make $100 one month and $1000 the next and they could care less! This is fact and since i am a true everything seller i have been Pretty steady over the last year since Jan i'm on the trajectory to do Double what i did last year and i did not change anything i did its Just because i am an true EVERYTHING seller NO UP or down allowing Diversification to be the center of your entire business and being a True Everything seller allows your reselling business to be steady and or grow

People like to complicate what is simple. If your mortgage/rent is around $2k or more, health insurance is close to $1k, have auto loans of $500 or more, pay hundreds in credit card interest, etc. You simply can't resell on eBay thinking you're going to make it. If your spouse/helper isn't working, then you have to do $250-300k in sales annual. Most can't achieve this. So if you really want to do reselling. It's time to downsize or relocate to lower housing. Sell off cars for older, more reliable foreign vehicles. Pay off unnecessary debt. Stop spending on stupid stuff that you don't need.

Ebay - 2023 sales were up 15% over 2022. 2024 sales are up 12% over 2023. It has been tougher, with all the crap that Ebay has and has not done. But on the other hand, my sales have grown on the platform. I have said this before - I attribute my sales growth to becoming a better picker, lister, customer care, shipper, and manager. Get better or get worse results folks. Ebay is still the best platform for old geezers like me until they aren't.

30:39 GREAT graphic Jon!! you hit it out of the ballpark with that not sure if anyone remembers but back then in that time frame 2004-2006 LOTS of Television ads for eBay as a whole (not just select categories) they also paid to have EBAY mentioned in TV SHOWS and MOVIES THIS was HUGE!! again why i have said they need to get rid of any loyalist to Devin (previous CEO) and Jamie REMOVE both from the board of directors Make them both sell back there shares of stock and REVERT back to basics or there ROOTS bring back the days of the meg Whitman or Donahue era those were the 2 best CEO's ebay ever had! they KNEW how to do things right!

36:29 thing is killing it in terms of sales amount per month is very subjective someone that was doing $1000 per month and is now doing $3k to them they might be killing it but to someone use to making $10k per month they MIGHT not look at that as killing it AGAIN reselling is a very Individualized thing! and as you all have stated which is 100% true what works for someone might not work for you so the person making $3k where they live they might be able to pay all there bills and reinvest in the business and or put into savings were the person that was making $10k that $3k might only be able to pay for there Rent sorry but if you have a brain and are not guiblale all these sellers are going to these other platforms NOT because there killing it on eBay that is a FACT beau Johnson months ago said he was leaving reselling to do Real estate then one day he is back doing reselling makes no sense!

I notice items geared towards older women will sell on Ebay but the items that fly on Poshmark just sit on Ebay. Their demographic is definitely age 50+. Josh is right, young people are not on Ebay and they are doing nothing to advertise or reach out to young people either.

34:45 1000% jon!!! again you hit it out of the park with that observation! you have to pick your poison! like James stated in some videos back when he was explaining the differences between Long tail Volume selling vs High STR selling with long tail volume selling there is more Listing and Processing Less sourcing (since you buy in BULK) with HIGH STR there is more sourcing Less listing and processing. now these sellers that are doing these one minute whatnot auctions are realizing yes the money is quicker then waiting for the sale on ebay But 1 your selling for less then what you can on ebay (99.9% of the time) and Run out of Product VERY quickly they are now seeing if they are doing multiple platforms THEY have to BUY JUST For Whatnot and then also buy for the other platforms you cant cross list with Whatnot or your Inventory will Dry up QUICK! i knew this ever since whatnot came on the scene with one minute auctions i was like those sellers better have 1000's of items per week AND have a source to replenish that inventory from the gossip around the reselling world what i heard when whatnot first came on the scene in early 2020 they were actually supplying there big Sellers with INVENTORY to sell (i wonder if that is still going on)
