If you have ever ordered anything on ebay, sometimes you may have seen the tracking number says it was delivered to you but you have received nothing. Most of the time, it is an honest mistake either by the seller or the shipping service, or sometimes the item was received by someone else in your household or business and they forgot to tell you. But in the case of a potential ebay seller scam, here's a popular method you should watch out for.
Some ebay scammers will sell something and when you purchase it, they will ship it out to you but not to your correct address but to a different address! Often times it will be the same city and zip code but not the same street number or name. The reason is because they know that tracking information like UPS cannot show the full address only the city and state and zip code. That means they can ship a fake box/order to an address slightly different from yours and tracking will say delivered because it was delivered to a different address and not yours. Then if you open a case in ebay, you may lose the case because ebay will see tracking information confirms it was delivered to you. What you have to do is tell ebay to call UPS and UPS will confirm that the address it was shipped to was not the correct address as your shipping address on your ebay account. Doing this may win you the case and save you. You'll get your refund.
I also shared some audio clips from a live call I made to a UPS representative who was very kind and helpful over the phone. She confirmed that it was a different address even though the city, state, and zipcode were the same as my address but the street and number was different (she wasn't allowed to tell me what it said).

I got this agin the second time. I think you got lucky because the scammer no longer registered. In my first case in 2018, it took over a month of running back and forth everyday, repeating the same story over and over with ebay, they basically admitted scammer won even thought i had proof showing item was never sent to me but somebody else. They finally gave me courtesy refund of $1000 won’t let me give negative feedback to warn others. This second time right now is for something less than $500, seller gives different tracking, none of them was for me, but both carriers refused to give me written documents to prove that it’s not sent to me. Now I am stuck . Not Ebay ever again

Glad to hear the first one was resolved after much persistence. If you can't get a written document, just try and get a verbal confirmation over the phone and a recording of it. I'm not sure which carrier you are using but if it was UPS you can talk to a live agent, and they can just confirm that it was sent to another address and not yours even though they can't tell you the address it was shipped to. They'll just say that it doesn't match your home address. That might be enough proof to give to ebay when trying to get the appeal approved.

Also, when you contact the carrier ask them what kind of package it was and tyhe weight. Scammers will send empty envelopes or boxes. This is another layer of proof they didn't send the right item and to the rght address.

I'm here because the happened to me this summer. Both Ebay and Paypal use the same loose criteria (City or Zipcode, no confirmation of street number or street address) and side with the seller, even after appeal. The appalling guidance Ebay customer service gave me was to resume communication and interactions with the scammer... which violates the most basic tenant of fraud prevention. Keep documentation of all details and conversations, then report the issue as fraud to your financial institution that funds your Paypal account.

If you can get the confirmation by the tracking information that it was delivered to a different address from yours, then show it to ebay rep, they should overturn your case and get your refund.

Ebay's buyer protection policy states exactly this: Sellers are required to deliver the item to the address in the Order details, unless the buyer selected a local pickup option. If the item doesn't arrive at the address provided by the buyer at checkout or isn't made available for collection, the buyer is entitled to a full refund, including original shipping costs (if applicable). If you can provide proof through a detailed tracking report, there should be no reason to refund your money.

I provided the detailed tracking report from FedEx that proves the package went to a different street address other than my own and weighed a lot less than my item should, yet my claim and subsequent appeal were both denied because the tracking # showed it shipped to my hometown, which it did but not to my address. I am currently working with reps on Twitter and Facebook and hopefully a refund is in the works.

I just had the same thing happen to me. I ordered something on eBay it was supposed to be delivered by UPS. The tracking number said it was delivered to my home and put by the garage. I called UPS and started a claim for a lost package. They ended up emailing me the address to where the package really went to. Of course it was in the same zip code and I knew the people that it supposedly went to. I contacted my neighbors where the package was supposedly delivered to and they said they never received anything from UPS. They checked by their garage where it was supposedly delivered to. Somehow the scammer uses a fake tracking number or even an old tracking number. The scammer may even know somebody at UPS that they can use an old tracking numbers or something. There is never really a physical package just a tracking number. I filed a claim with PayPal and they are currently working on it. The one big question I have is there a way to prevent this in the first place? Can you ask the seller to require a signature for the package upon delivery? If anybody knows any way to protect yourself from this type of scam please let us know?

Sorry to hear this. First off, if you can prove to ebay that the seller sent it to the wrong address (not yours), then you'll win the case and get your money back. That's what I did. Next, you can ask sellers for "confirm with signature" but they aren't obligated to do so (unless the value is over $400 or rough estimate because some shipping services like Fedex and UPS require it mandatory if it goes over a certain value). They set their own rules on what shipping services they use. Most trustworthy sellers should have no problem adding that option to the shipping service, even if you have to a little more. If it's an expensive order, it's worth it!

sorry to hear that. Yes, if you can get the evidence from the shipping company to confirm it was not shipped to your address, you can appeal the case to ebay with this evidence and they should overturn it back in your favor.

Beware, some sellers may try to scam you by shipping your order to a different address other than yours so tracking information will say "delivered" but you will not have received anything (and of course whatever was in the box they shipped it to the different address has nothing in it or just filler for weight). This same thing happened to me today. The seller used USPS to ship. I went over to the Post Office and the Post Office employee gave me a printout of the tracking to the address where it was sent to. She crossed off the street number, but it does have the street name on it. The seller has thousands of sales. I went back and read his ratings and sure enough, it looks like he has done this exact thing to several other buyers.

Sorry to hear that. I've always said to ebay it would be a great idea for them to allow buyers to see "detailed seller ratings". So if a seller has a history of claims where buyer didn't receive their items even though tracking number says it was delivered, it should be made known to the public so that buyers can decide if they think it's worth buying from the seller or not. I think as long as you can provide ebay the proof that the item was shipped to a different address and not yours, you should be able to get your money back. In my case, I was able to get my money back in the appeal after I provided evidence it was shipped to a different address.

You can open an item not received case. Just show them the tracking information and tell them it wasn't delivered to your address but it was delivered to another address.

Hmm...yes that can be frustrating. Most sellers should be able to ship out their packages on time and you can see this in their ratings and feedbacks...avoid sellers that have bad ratings and stick with the ones that have good ratings and good feedbacks.

I'm not sure about that. I've never needed to provide that to ebay before. When I talked to the UPS cust. agent, they told me they can't give me any kind of letter or information about the address of where the package was shipped to. They said ebay has to call them to ask for it and they can confirm it to ebay that it was indeed shipped to a different address. When I told ebay this, they closed the case in my favor even though tracking said it was delivered (it was delivered to an address different from the address on my account).

Thanks for asking. From my experience, it is not common. It is possible sometimes the delivery service will mark it as delivered if it arrives at the post office but not to the actual resident's address. That is why I always ask my buyers to check at their post office in case it is waiting there to be picked up. The best thing to do is call the shipping service that was used to deliver your goods. Ask them if the address on the shipment matches your address. They might not be able to tell you what the address is on the package (policies) but you can tell them what your address is and they can just say yes it matches or no there is a different address on file. There is a good chance the seller is honest and their part but the delivery service messed up somewhere (either delivered it to the wrong address or marked it as delivered when it hasn't been delivered yet). Let me know what happens! It's always good to get more results for future reference!

If you are registered with ups you get an email confirmation that the package is on the way with your full address in my case I have to now wait 10 days to get my money back if the seller tries to give that fake tracking number to someone else address in my area. I think ebay/paypal needs to make sure the addresses used are only on the part of the buyer so when the seller prints a label their system wont take any other address. Or requires a photo of the printed label/package, and if the buyer needs it the address changed they need to verify by call or txt with a code. Scammers do too much. I really wanted what I was trying to buy. ups said the tracking number was for Amazon and slipped up and said Daniel as the receivers name def not me. I called paypal so quick.

correct. They cannot disclose the specific address but they can tell you yes or no answers. For example, I asked if they sent it to my specific address and they said no. Did they send it to a different address than my address? They said yes.

Yes, once you open up a claim, you have to wait 4 days to allow seller/buyer to resolve issue together. If after 4 days issue is not resolved, either party can request ebay to step in and decide the outcome. In order to add any details to the case, simply go to your "open cases" in resolution center and find your open case. There you can send a message and add more comments to the case.

It shouldn't take long to authenticate the payment. Please give the seller a couple of days to ship it out. When it is shipped out, ask them for a tracking number and use that to monitor your shipment. If it doesn't arrive to you, you can get your refund by opening an "item not received case" and providing the tracking number as evidence that it didn't arrive to you.

The item is £47 and showing dispatched but never delivered so contacted seller who said that as far as they were concerned it was delivered and for me to make enquiries with neighbours. I said it was a work address and we have daily deliveries.I asked for proof of delivery but their last message more or less said that they had it delivered, no proof given and sounded like matter closed. This just happened to me and I filed a police report and ic3 report. Local post office confirmed GPS tracking indicated it was delivered to VA even though delivery receipt says it was delivered to OR. USPS delivery tracking is a joke. Luckily my CC company had refunded my money. Apparently if you open dispute with CC the Money Back Guarantee from eBay automatically closed so be warned about that too.

If you are trying to open up an item not received case much earlier than the estimated delivery date, it may not be available yet. You might have to wait until the estimated delivery date has passed then try to open the item not received case.

I never got scammed before. But, a year ago, I purchased some shoes on eBay and put it on my size. A month later, I got my package and I was excited. When I opened it, They were small. Yes, if you can show ebay the proof the buyer incorrectly returned the item (wrong address other than to you), you should be protected and the buyer should be at fault. Ebay says even to wait for the package to be returned to you before giving a refund. So if the buyer didn't return it correctly, it should be their loss.

The seller most likely shipped an empty envelope to a house in the same zip code, and is making thousands by doing this to everyone. People are now aware of this scam, and are only buying from reputable business sellers.

Always ask the shipper details. I bought a package from Russia, he gave me a Russian post number in messages, but put a UPS tracking code in the paypal invoice without informing me what that was. The UPS tracking code belonged to a gentleman in my town who ordered something for himself. The seller never sent me anything, the Russian post number never got passed Identifier Assigment (never picked up). He got the gavel. I got my money back.

It was a larger than average item and about 120+ pounds it says it's arrived at the front porch but it's not there just as in this video but however I also noticed the package weight on Fedex is listed as only 1.2 pounds. I'm going to try and raise an issue with Ebay sometime tomorrow after I sleep. I really feel Ebay should try to do something about this issue as this can end up eventually eating away at the credibility of the site as a whole, already my uncle has stopped using it over similar issues and this could go so far as to damage honest sellers as a whole with these scammers around.

Just had this happen on a EBay purchase.The only difference is they somehow used a ups code that ups says Amazon uses for my zip code. Plus they said in the shipping it was shipped on the 20th.. luckily I purchased it on the 21st.. now I have to wait still to get money back.

You can call the shipping company to confirm if it was shipped to your address or different address. Once you get that confirmation, you can appeal your case to ebay (within 30 days of decision) and tell them the shipping company confirmed it was not delivered to my address on ebay account but was delivered to another address nearby. They should reverse the decision back in your favor. In my case, it was reversed back in my favor.

Good find! Yes, always double check with the shipping service to find out if the seller pulled a quickie on you. It's unfortunate that tracking information doesn't and can't show the actual address because of security reasons. They can't even tell you the address on it either...at least UPS wasn't allowed. They can only tell you if it was your address or a different one.

Ditto...My post office gave me a copy of package with address on it. Also, I applied for the PayPal credit and got approved the full amount $3500 (Jordan rookie card). My first payment is due Nov 29. This should be resolved by then so I don't pay anything out of pocket. PayPal can call the USPS to verify were package actually went to.

In your order history, you simply choose the option, "I did not receive my item" or any other reason "item is not as described" or "item arrived damaged" etc and these will open a case automatically.

Well my case is a little different. I had the wrong address on file (USPS station) and it turns out you can't ship your packages there. So I ask the seller can he change the address. And he said yes. But my back arrived somewhere in the USPS station and nobody has seen it. So he basically lied and said he would change the address and now I cant get in touch with him. I can screenshot the proof of the seller lying saying he will ship it to the correct address.

It's possible the seller simply forgot to change the address and just used what was on file (esp. if the seller is a business and more than 1 person is running the orders). But I would definitely contact ebay rep about this and show them your messages.

they don't have to use the ebay shipping label. They can use their own if they want and get a tracking number from any other shipping service.

Same thing happened to me today. 3 Weeks ago bought 2x 4090s off of eBay since it was from a "top rated seller" who had sold 250+ items. Paid them $6400 in two transcations, because I wanted to use $300 off coupon. 2 days later seller messaged me saying eBay has held their paypout and need time to resolve it, showing me screenshots of them talking with ebay rep. Evey week I messaged the seller once or twice and they said still working on it. And just last week I had enough of it and opened a INR case, to which the seller never responded so recently eBay stepped in, and lord be hold the seller gave them a tracking address that shows it was delivered to my suburb and post code. When the post office opens on Moday I am going to contact them to confirm the delivery address and if a signature on delivery was added since it was a very high value item and eBay policy here in Australia says anything over $750 requires on and the chat rep was pretty adamant that the seller provided a signature when I asked to see they refused. Using a more complex tracking website, I manage to track the tracking details ebay chat provided me, and lord be hold it was sent express envelop. Don't know how in gods name will 2x 4090s which weigh over 6kgs fit inisde a medium envelope. that can barely fit an A4 paper. Once I get a letter from my local courier company I'll re appeal my case and if all fails go through PayPal, hopefully it works out for me and I get my money back.

@@leroyjenkins0736 so I had appealed for my case to the eBay chat and as usual they were useless to which I asked them to put me through to their supervisor. So a day or two later, I get an email from them saying the same thing, this time around they added 2 pieces of evidence with the email. One being the same fake document that said I had "signed" for it and the other being a picture of the box with the label on it. If you zoomed in and read the label on the box it clearly said it was being shipped to someone else in a different state. I got so furious I emailed them back and called them out for being so blinded by automatic responses and not doing their due diligence, because this was a clear scam case. I didn't hear back from them for a few hours, and then something unexpected happened. Another member reached out to me via email and they said to ignore the previous email from her coworker because she wasn't supposed to send me those and the rep I was talking to was assigned to my case. She assured me she had looked into my case, knew what the items were, had researched their dimensions and was going to call the post office on my behalf and confirm what was shipped and to what address. A sign of hope, and the very next day I got an email saying my case was overturned in my favour and I'd be getting a refund soon and I did end up getting all my money back. This entire process took nearly 3-3.5 weeks but alas victory was mine, and the scammers account vanished after multiple other negative feedbacks started pouring.

Ebay is protecting these scam sellers. The same happened to me but they sent it to the wrong zip code. Despite showing this information directly from Ebay, they denied my claim. The seller refuses to send the item or refund my money. Fedex verified that the address was wrong and the package wasn't even in my name. Ebay also refuses to do any form of investigation.

The new scam from EBay themselves is also refusing to help if your address is considered a forwarding address even when there is evidence that the seller scammed you. They are trying to force people to use their expensive global shipping option. I use a forwarding address rather than my actual US address for personal reasons but it shouldn’t matter because it is a legitimate address and I have never stolen anything from EBay.

They send a 1 ounce tiny box that's empty and they send it to an address in your zip code. They even can have a picture taken and posted on Fed Ex and it will be a picture of a small box on the door step of a house in your zip code; that is not your house. For me I have a burgundy door and the picture on the Fed Ex website is of a blue door. The Fed ex tracking will show the weight of the package and the packaging used; which is huge in proving your case. For me; a 150 ounce laundry detergent purchase that should weigh well over 5 pounds says it has a weight of 1 ounce on the Fed ex site for the tracking number used and it shows it was shipped in a Fed Ex enveope which obviously can't be used for a large container of liquid laundry detergent

Yes, you should first open the case with ebay and provide evidence as much as you can. If you don't win the ebay case, then you can file with your credit card company and try with them. They usually won't let you open a claim until after about 21 days or so before filing a claim (depending on your bank) so you should do ebay case first as you wait. Good luck!

I just had this happen to a large package I purchased. I was unable to ever get ahold of a live person at Fedex since their support number is mostly managed by a bot and trying to speak to a person is basically impossible so I went ahead and told Ebay it was an address scam with my zip code. They ruled in favor of the seller and now I've appealed it stating it's an address scam (still waiting on the results but it's quite stressful). The tracking ID lists the item was 1 pound despite the item weighing well over 90 pounds. I tried contacting ebay only to be met by an automatic voice again and then get told if I want to speak to a live person it will take a 2 hour waiting period. I think the scammers have found the silver bullet. I might have to go to paypal and talk to them but I bet the same issue will happen. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It's literally been only 4 months since this last post and it's happened again. This time it was a cheaper item than last time but still has the same characteristics. The item is 1.8 pounds instead of 5.07, it claims to of went to my zip code but doesn't show the exact address. As a side note, the previous post I put up 4 months ago I appealed and got a refund, but this time I appealed and did not so I'm probably going to have to go to paypal about this for real this time. :( This was a well respected seller too with 2400 reviews and 99.2% approval rating so I was shocked. I even saw others in the reviews recently complaining about not getting their item. Ebay is not safe. I'm not buying from them any more unless I really have to, it seems like Amazon is going to decimate Ebay if this keeps getting worse.

Lessons learned! In general if you purchase a item on ebay and it said delivered and you did not get it (because for example it got stolen or got delivered to the wrong mail box both happen to me). You will NOT get a refund from Ebay! So think carefully before you buy anything from Ebay.

yes, if the package was stolen from your mailbox/porch it's going to be the buyer's responsibility and not the seller (unless you used tracking with signature confirmation). If the package was delivered to a different address other than the one you gave in your ebay profile, you can get your money back from ebay ...you just need to provide the evidence from the shipping service.

Hence ship to such a person at such an address. Unless otherwise indicated the seller uses his/her discretion as to how to delivery the item. The seller has the choice to have the item insured or have the item delivered requiring a signature. The seller is responsible to determined the fitness of the carrier to deliver the item. If the carrier simple said we only put it on the porch, PERIOD. Then the seller has to decide if that is a good delivery option for the item. The seller need to use reasonable judgement to determined the best shipping option not just the least expensive. Yes I know ebay does what ebay do. So Hence buyer think carefully before buying anything from Ebay.

Is this all from the same seller or from different sellers? If it's from the same seller, it could be the seller's fault/mistake. If it's from different sellers, it could be an issue with the shipping service used. You should double check at your post office if anything was left there. Does your address have something like a East or West to it? Some streets in America have the same name but one is East and other is West and if you don't put that in, it gets shipped to the wrong house.

It just happened to me couple weeks ago. The seller first use another seller picture as is and when he shipped the first time he provide me pictures of shipping labels and Signature. Next Morning he provided me NEW tracking numbers but no pictures or Signature of new shipping labels.When I tracked on USPS, the package is moving, so I'm thinking I'm good I'll just wait. @@Juniorzeeseven1 If the package was delivered to wrong address by the seller, then the seller would be responsible for the error. Ebay "should" award you the decision and get your money back. If someone stole the package from your house/doorstep, then the ebay seller is NOT responsible. They did their job and shipped and delivered it to your address. In this case, you have to deal with local law authorities to report mail theft and hope they can recoup your loss. Ebay "should" not hold sellers liable for stolen packages. I put those words in quotation because every ebay agent is a little different and may have a different verdict but they aren't supposed to. Mail theft in America is a federal offense. People nowadays install door cams so if mail theft is common in your area, I'd invest in getting a door cam for your house just like we now have dash cams for cars for insurance purposes. Yes, it's possible the fault could also simply be that of the final mile delivery person who is in a bad mood and decides to get unprofessional for 1 minute and it happens to be your package. Again in this instance, for the seller, the package will show as delivered with signature so technically the seller should not be held responsible as they did their part. If the delivery person decided to sign it themselves or forge a signature just cuz they were lazy and wanted to get rid of it and leave it at your door when you weren't home, this is going to have to be reported by the buyer to the shipping service / postal service and be get them to reimburse you for their mistake as it wasn't the sellers mistake. I can't stress enough how much I think delivery workers need to be held accountable to the strictest and highest of measures. People's mail and shipments must be treated like it is the most valuable stuff in the world because who knows what could be in it that makes it so valuable. I hate when shipping services do a poor job and don't get penalized for it by the law. They SHOULD! It ruins it for buyers and sellers alike.

Sorry to hear that! Yes, you get little hints and clues that something doesn't match up. In your case you order something 16 pounds but the tracking indicates its only 13 ounces HUGE RED FLAG. If you can provide this evidence to them, hopefully they will take your side. I've never used Mercari before so I don't know their policies. On ebay, if the seller ships to a different address/incorrect address, the buyer will win.

In most cases the seller would not know who they are sending it to. They are just sending probably an empty box or a box filled with something cheap to a slightly different address. The person receiving it would not know or care what it was since they never ordered anything. It would just give the seller the "tracking confirmed delivery" status.

In my case, I was provided email information from UPS that it was a completely different address but ebay turned me down completely and closed the case, so I can't do anything. The best thing to do is to keep asking a different ebay agent about your case and provide all the evidence and details of the situation. One of them will eventually agree and change the decision for you. I've had many agents tell me no only to have another agent later tell me yes and change the outcome. You just have to keep asking several times as each agent is a new / different agent when they read the message / email.

First off, it doesn't take 10 days to refund you UNLESS he's saying the package is on the way back to him (then it could take up to 10 days for him to receive the package back). If he's waiting to get his package back first before he refunds you, I can understand it takes 10 days. However, if he is saying he already got the package back but will take 10 days to refund you that is a lie. Every ebay seller can refund you your money instantly at any given moment. The first thing you should do is check your tracking number. See the details and find out where it got delivered by calling the shipping company (if it was USPS or UPS etc). If you don't have a tracking number, better news for you. All you need to do is open an "item not received" case right now and the seller will only have 4 days to resolve the issue for you before you can escalate it to ebay to step in and close the case in your favor.

Did you get a tracking number from the seller? Be sure you got one and can track the package at the website. If you didn't get a tracking number, you can open an "item not received" case after it hasn't arrived around it's estimated delivery date.

You'll need to contact the shipping service and get confirmation it was either delivered to your address or to a different address. If they confirm different address than yours, you can forward that to ebay customer service who might be able to save you in an open claim.

I would recommend you to appeal the decision. Provide all the evidence and proof it was indeed not shipped to your address but to another address (to prove the seller made the error in shipping it to a wrong address). You can appeal a decision many times by simply contacting ebay via their messaging service and eventually you may come across an agent who will agree with you and over turn the decision.

if the seller didn't provide a valid tracking number, you'll win the case. If the seller did provide a tracking number but it was sent to a different address, you'll win the case. Just make sure to tell ebay that the tracking number shows it was sent to a different address and not to yours.

Sorry to hear this. Even though the case closed in buyer's favor, you can still have time to reverse the case and appeal it within 30 days of the case closed. If the shipment gets delivered and your tracking number shows it was delivered, appeal the case and submit the proof that it was delivered by the tracking number. Also tell them the buyer opened the case before the estimated delivery date. Ebay should be able to reverse the decision and give you back your money. So watch your tracking number and when it shows it was delivered, then appeal the case but you only have 30 days to appeal. If 30 days passes, then you have to contact ebay help directly using their chat service and request either a call back (phone call) or chat with an agent and then explain to them what happened along with proof of delivery with the tracking number.

Interesting idea. It may work for a no-name delivery service, but not likely anyone can fake and simulate a UPS or Fedex tracking number for example. Once a real search is performed, it would be exposed as a fake tracking number. I think it's more likely scammers would actually ship something with a real tracking number but just ship it to a different address or do a switcharoo of the item. @@breakaway2x I say this because Im having an issue where I bought an item from overseas and 4 days later they sent a USPS tracking # claiming that it had been delivered the previous day "of course it wasn't", what's more the label creation occurred before I placed the order! Apparently, a technique is the scammer has a list of tracking numbers from amazon or other and they pick the one that is in your zip code and time frame then it can appear as if they sent when in reality your looking at someone else's random order. I'm currently in a dispute on paypal and am trying to figure this out. I fear this scam will only increase with time and there will have to be an overhaul to correct this loophole.

One that will line up with the town and time frame of where they are supposed to be sending the package to. Then they enter that tracking number on ebay. When the real package that the tracking number belongs to is delivered to the real address it will show as delivered. That way the seller has proof of delivery because it shows as having been delivered in that town and zip code.

Just happened to me. Spent about $800 on a PS5. I figured out what happened like you did. It was supposed to be shipped from OR, but ships from PA. Item weight is 1.9 lbs not 7.9 lb or more which is the weight of a PS5. Ships with UPS and not USPS. I contacted UPS, they told me that it was not delivered to my address. I contacted ebay and told them all of the facts and they said they won’t contact UPS because they basically are too lazy and don’t give a f and want a written doc. F ebay and f these pussy ass scammers, I’d drop one of these weak ass boys. I'm sorry to hear about it. Wow, I am very surprised an ebay rep told you they won't verify the evidence with UPS. What I find in this situation is that you should just keep asking again because each time you will get a new ebay rep. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 tries before you get a good ebay rep who will understand and agree with your case and help you. I can't tell you how many times I have had one or two ebay reps reject my appeals and then suddenly a 3rd ebay rep saw it my way and completely reversed the case in my favor. Over my 17 years on ebay, I found that sometimes you just have to keep asking and get a different rep. I think naturally we think of ebay as being this one entity that oversees and looks at everyone's cases with a singularity of mind (ie like a god), but in reality, ebay doesn't exist. Only tens of thousands ebay workers exist each having their own job responsibilities and their own minds and way of thinking. So when you talk to an ebay rep, they really aren't the be all and end all. They are just one rep. I'd keep asking and try to get a different rep 3 or 4 times. Since you can prove UPS proves the shipment was in fact not delivered to the correct address, you should win the case. It's the seller's fault if they ship to a false/fake address. Good luck man! I have opened a case. I have to wait until Tuesday and then I will call for the refund. The scammer has not responded. Item was sent USPS. Tracking says item was delivered, but I was here all day and it did not come. I called my post office and they emailed me a history of the tracking number. He used a completely different address with same ZIP code. I used property records to contact person at that address and they said no package came. I don't know, but I will contact my credit card company if Ebay does not refund. So aggravating!!@@breakaway2x

Where in ebay I can open a dispute! The seller keeping providing USPS track label but never send the item. Keep procrastinating and postponing send the item and keep responding the messages avoiding the 3 days without answer in order to expire feedback time and dispute. Where is my money back! Ebay have been protecting much more sellers the buyers. I'm 100% buyer, I never sell. I'm in ebay since it was created and in the beguining Ebay was much better for buyers, now they despise the buyers.

I did that and it was denied 30 seconds later. They look at Ebay's tracking number and do the same thing Ebay does....deny it because it says it was delivered.

@@TheReader01 open a case with PayPal and ask for the shipping label. The seller typically won't respond and the coming will be credited back.

@@Biruma I appreciate the advice but if the seller can come up with a fake tracking number, I wouldn't put it past them to come up with a fake shipping label. I provided Ebay and Paypal with a detailed tracking report from my local FedEx office and it was still denied by both. I contacted eBay via Twitter and Facebook explaining the situation. I finally got someone to really look at the evidence and am supposed to be refunded in the coming days. I've been an ebay member since 2000. Once this is finished, I highly doubt I will be buying or selling anything on this platform again. Too many scammers. And from now on, anything I order online will be with my credit card.

@@TheReader01 This is what I did. The shipping company won't give you the delivery address they will confirm if the address on the tracking number is yours or not. The shipping label, yes seller could come up with it but ebay, PayPal and major shipping label firms do work together. I contacted PayPal customer care on chat and explained my case, and shared the web link where many cases of this same nature were reported. I wanted the PayPal team to open up a case to get the shipping label and cross check it with the shipping firm. Two days later I got the money back.

I heard horror stories about eBay siding with seller because it said delivered. I just ordered a $900 3080Ti and I have a feeling this is gonna happen to me, I didn’t use PayPal so I hope eBay helps me and contacts UPS

Yes, that happens a lot. The reason is because most ebay agents don't take the time to look into the details. Some of them are lazy. They just look at the tracking information to say "delivered". If that happens, the best thing to do is what I did. Contact another ebay agent to manually look into it. Describe to them the tracking information actually will show it was delivered to a wrong/different address than the one in your ebay shipping address (this can only be verified by contacting the shipping service and have them confirm the address was a different address on the package). Once you can prove that to them, they'll reverse the verdict back in your favor because the seller didn't ship it correctly.

@@breakaway2x update: the seller just sent out the shipping details and I contacted UPS right away, the confirmed it was a different address, I’m calling eBay support tomorrow and telling them, I may have to wait until after delivery date.

oh no! if you call ups and get them to confirm the address was changed, then call or tell ebay that UPS can confirm the seller did not ship to your correct address, then you might be able to win the appeal!

The best way is to go to Help & Contact section, then try to select what issue you are having. Finally at the end it gives you an option to chat with a virtual assistant. When you get to the virtual assistant, keep typing in "talk to human" or similar and it eventually it should get a live human agent to chat with you. In other situations depending on the category, sometimes there is an option to leave a message. You can type in your message and hit send (it's like an email to them) and someone will reply back to your email (on the ebay account) usually within 1-2 days. Last case scenario is some situations you can even leave your phone number so someone will call you back. It seems to change every few months or so because it doesn't appear the same for me each time either.

Not only this *THEY CAN Manipulate and Fuse Tracking Numbers* So I recently bought an RTX 3080 Ti Graphics Card on eBay for around 650$ (shipping and Tax) a decent price for this kind of card. The Package Never arrived, I at first Assumed USPS was lying about delivering it cuz they do sometimes. After filing a missing package Report. A lady called me back. And sent me a picture of another package from a different address near my house. Claiming that it was a package. But was going to a dentistry and weighed around 11-12Pounds, The 3080 ti weighs about 6 pounds. (idk if the added packaging would make it weigh that much, so Idk if that’s my order) Then I realized it was a different Tracking Number then the One I had on my eBay Order. I called her back and gave her my tracking number on the eBay Order. She then said that the Physical Address (address to dentistry) was mismatched With the destination Address (my address) and that The Pre shipment was done in Cali and was mailed in PA. Conclusion: If this ends up being a scam, (100% sure it is) PLEASE BEWARE! As Tracking numbers be manipulated. I gave her *MY* tracking number and it pops up as a *completely different* number and item.

Thanks for sharing! That sounds scary. It's definitely a good idea to track your shipments and monitor if anything fishy is going on (like it's going to a different address other than yours). As a seller, ebay also doesn't allow the same tracking number to uploaded twice to two different orders. Just a note.
