Totally underrated player. When he was at his peak he could beat anyone. Beating Hendry in a Crucible final when Hendry was at his peak tells you everything.

Love him or hate him,you have to admire Peter Ebdon,he achieved his lifetime ambition to be a World Champion,something a lot of players considered better than him,have failed to do,and against Hendry,other players may have more flair,panache,style,but not many have the bottle Peter Ebdon had,he'd be number 1 for me for bottle.

he plays like ronnie - they both play in such a way to keep the opponent away from the table as much as possible, ronnie with skill and ebdon plays... like ebdon. to be fair to ebdon ive really enjoyed his nailbiting matches like this

Lovely controlled potter when he's in the zone! Just naturally has to concentrate harder than some naturally quicker players who sight the pots a lot faster

Gets alot of stick by KZbin haters and twitterati but the guy realised his dream of becoming world champion in his chosen sport. Something only a tiny fraction of the world will ever do and nobody can ever take that away from him

Incredible that Hendry conceded when a couple of snookers and a free ball would have got him right back in the frame. It was the final frame, he literally had nothing to lose by trying!

Ebdon’s finest hour without a doubt. I’ve said this before about other players who only won the world championship once. You’ve only got to win this thing once to have your place in history forever and a day. A good player who took himself to the next level with bottle, guts and nerve. Never the most naturally gifted player but none of this matters a jot 😀😀😀

"Beats Stephen Hendry in a decider to win the world championship" Not many players have done the first, even fewer for the second, let alone both at the same time

Unforgivable that you've cut out Peter's miraculous escape in the final. That sealed the deal.
@omegaman64942 жыл бұрын
Not an Ebdon fan at all, but respect due to him here, he's the only player to win the world title by surviving deciders in the semis and final. That takes real nerve.

I love Ebdon, but what I love about him most, is that he loves the Truth. That takes strong character, which 99.9%, will never possess, even though, every one of them, think they do.

When Ebdon played well, there was something almost hypnotic about the way he cued. Not because it was slow, it was just very unique.

Yup, Hendry admitted he underestimated Ebdon. He didn’t think Ebdon could play as well as he did in the final when he beat him.

Peter beat Stephen at Semi, beat Hendry in final, he sure cooked up Stephen Hendry. His winning means luck is the key major to win the big competition.

@chriswilliamson7694 Жыл бұрын
Not a chance. He's well clear of the likes of Taylor, Johnson, Dott etc. and I'd have him fairly comfortably ahead of Parrott, Doherty and maybe Bingham too. What he did in those last three frames against Stevens in that semi in 2002 was remarkable and not many fancied him against Hendry (fresh off the back of beating Ronnie in a classic) either. To win it with back-to-back final frame deciders is a testament to his bottle and application. And he played attacking, positive snooker throughout the event, albeit at a measured pace.
