Love that we are able to hear the buck grunt. I have always struggled with figuring out what a grunt call sounds like in the field.

Those were very soft grunts, almost like tending grunts. Searching grunts are much louder and a tiny bit longer. I have an EO video on calls and it's a ways back and I show using an inhale and an exhale grunt with the proper length and volume for calling. Calling using a soft grunt like this buck did, wouldn't carry very far.

I haven’t seen your little circular sight before. How long you been using that? I recently got an EZV due to way too blurry pins. I’m liking it so far. Have you tried one and or what are your thoughts? What age did you get prescription glasses? I should do that but I’m afraid they’ll fog up at the worst moment! lol

Rattled in my biggest buck ever this year. 11/8 7:30 am. I used your advice of rattle early or late next to standing corn. 25 yard shot. He came in fast and looking for a fight. Hit him back qtring away. Gave him 6 hours. Dead in his first bed. 152 3/4 green gross. Ty sir. 👊🏻👍🏻🦌Kalamazoo Mich.

Imfreeze when they are just taken off and once i get them out to use, I use them several times before trashing them depending on the weather.

John, can you get a camera that doesn’t make noises for zooming in and out?
@johneberhart4062
@johneberhart4062 Жыл бұрын
Interestingly, I can't hear that noise when I'm filming and neither can the deer. It must be a slight internal noise that's right next to the mic.

@johneberhart4062

They work great, especially the doe ones. Rancid buck tarsals are totally different and can spook does that are not in heat and can intimidate and spook smaller bucks. I only use buck tarsals when pursuing a specific mature buck.

Great videos John. Only commercial scent I use is a preorbital gland scent on a licking branch over a mock scrape. I’m definitely going to try this one. I used the preorbital gland scent on the buck I sent you in a email in WV. I’m getting around writing that story for you hard to sit down with work, Christmas and hunting lol.

Take your time and I will post it when I get it. I use preorbital on licking branches as well from Smokey.

why sparing lee? the first time I tried that was in 1987 , did you ever have a bad experience doing that ? I use tarcill gland hair or tarcill glands every time I hunt, the only time it does not work is when the deer fallows it the wrong way to the truck,
@johneberhart4062
@johneberhart4062 Жыл бұрын
Yes I have when using a buck tarsal. With pungent buck tarsals, if does that are not close to, or in heat smell it they will spook because they want nothing to do with rutting bucks. They also intimidate young bucks. I've never had a bad issue with a doe tarsal though.

How many uses do you get out of each gland? Does it depends on what you're dragging it through/how far?
@johneberhart4062
@johneberhart4062 Жыл бұрын
Primarily depends on the weather, when it's 40 degrees or below, and you keep it in a ZipLok when not in use, you can get several days out of it. When it's warm out, you need to keep them in ZipLoks and keep in a small cooler with ice or in a refrigerator when not in use and you can get several days out of them. You can get them off fresh road kills as well.
