Tried to like it. Loved halftrack and was hoping this was an upgrade in size with features. Apparently the drawing board plans didn't get translated accurately in production.

You have the lid on backward. The logo faces the other way. If you do that and tighten the straps facing your back, the lid stays securely over the load without sagging.

Feel sorry for you being not satisfied with your bag. I have been using Terminator pack for months and I am so happy about this bag. I did 10 day hike travel in Jeju island and the volume of the bag was just enough to carry my gears snug. Not too big not too small. I have seen a guy complaining about ILBE mainpack talking about the same issue like you do for the lid being exposed. In this case the volume was too big for him. You got to pack your gears very carefully and strap em tight cause if you fail it's gonna be sloppy like the case you are dealing with. I love the removable top on my Terminator pack which works great for compressing the load. You'd better store raincover separately. Who did come up with this is an idiot! (What was Glen Eberle doing?)

Thanks for the sympathy but don’t feel sorry for me:) my pain is your gain. Hopefully it saves some people some money. But also, like you said what was Glen and the gang thinking? It’s like they had too much TactiKool Aid and thought how cool this all would look without thinking what would really work I.e the rain over…

Would it solve your problem with the sleeping bag if you secure it using the molle? For my needs, i would be securing my tent to the bottom of the pack, with molle webbing. Would i still have a similar issue?

I thought about that, but I didn't like the idea of it, especially since it would tug on the straps and still cause said straps to pull the top lid down, among other reasons.
