I bought this a few months ago, and have used it when we helped during Hurricane Harvey in TX, and in Florida. Holds a ton of stuff, but is extremely comfortable. Used it to go on a shopping run (road march) at 0330 this morning.....8 plus miles, round trip....almost $300 worth of groceries.

I own the pack and have used it on two backcountry hunts. Carried well both up and down the mountain. Had no problem getting all my gear and food for a week with me. My one complaint is the side mesh pouches. One ripped the first year on a small branch. Really took my time to repair when I got home. The next year same fail again but to both. May have been a nice idea but any small branch will tear them. Will have to cut them out and try to rig a side pouch. Will Cary the weight as mentioned but does have the design flaw for a higher end pack that is pretty tough.

Its a great militaristic alpine pack. It works really great on mountain terrain with heavy load cause its got flexible aluminum frame. One of the best packs I own.

I would have to say with my limited experience in the amount of packs I have owned,, the frontier gear of Alaska pack from Barney's Sports Chalet is one of the very best when heavy hauling in the triple digits, with reasonable comfort, and a favorite of hunting guides in AK. Very tough pack.

Congrats to your big deal! I'm also waiting for such a deal, but in a few months I'll buy it directly from Eberlestock at full Price. I think this pack is better than the TerminatorXL, which seems really too long, at the same theorical capacity of 99 liter (6100 cubic inch, for yanks). Thanks for the preview !

With the assault pack, it holds more yep. I leave it off though. I do have two sustainment pouches on the sides though, so I still have more volume than this pack. Winter gear sure is bulky.panzerabwerkanone

Luke,you know, Eberlestock V90 backpack reminder me the first time I went to hike at the A.T. I used my Molley II system from deployment. Few thru-hikers made fun of me. There were cool people by the way. I though I was going to swift through the mountain. Few months prior I ETS from the military. My wife & I begun our journey at Springer mountain, Ga. Oh lord, 50-lb + did not do any good for a pleasant time my wife & should've had. We still managed to do 25ml in 5 day.

You'd think it would have quick releases, especially given how big it is and that it's used by military units and personnel who probably have it available at the PX. It could use more MOLLE IMO, again owing to it's size and the fact that some things you want right there, nice and conveniently, and you can easily get plenty of stuff and not dig around in such a giant ruck. Great review of a great ruck, but with it having a $500 price tag, I will stick with surplus

That is a beast of a pack but 3.9 Kgs isn't that heavy for a bag of this size. The Karrimor Sabre 60-100 which has a similar contenance, weighs about the same. This pack looks to be made of rip stop nylon rather than cordura & the back system does look a little weak for a pack of this size.The shoulder straps are very thin too but maybe it was designed to be worn over body armor, I still wouldn't want to carry any weight over long distances with those flimsy straps, even if most of the weight would be carried on the hips Great review as always Luke & I reckon that pack could make an emergency bivi bag for some......

I love TOGR. the only thing i dont get is y he always says he gets these incredible deals on ebay. Every video he says he pays 50% or less than what you see the item going for. youd never ever ever find someone selling this pack for 150$. maybe 350$ on an incredibly good day. you might see an auction where the price is at 150$ to start, but the item wont sell for that cheap.

What a huge pack! Please, those loose straps....it looks like... i wont say... When i was a conscript i had superiors that would tell you to get a hold of those straps and show you how, if you didn or forgot, they would cut them off and leave you with a backpack without straps and it would be your own problem finding a way to fix it, the depot would laugh and get you a new one the first time, the second time you would be on your own. From that day since, thats 15+ years now, my straps are tight and well maintained, and i never ever lost anything and water never ever got into my pack from loose straps or unzipped zippers A tough but fair lesson. And the first time you are to carry a 20kg+ pack on your shoulders because you forgot to pack a extra hipbuckle, you will always have a spare one. "Learning by f*cking up"

Not unless your idea of bugging out is being forced out of the house for using the couch pillows again. lol :).

I am trying to decide which pack to invest my money. Which do you think is better...the Marine Corps ILBE or this pack? After serving in the desert and almost dying, I cannot tolerate the summer heat and humidity anymore. I love the outdoors, so I am learning to winter camp more comfortably. That brings me to my point...I need space, particularly suited for my sleeping gear and shelter. The ILBE and this pack have the area near at the bottom suited to my purpose. Any suggestions, or other ideas? Thanks
@TheOutdoorGearReview
@TheOutdoorGearReview 8 жыл бұрын
+Bill Barnhart Hmmm, I would have to ask you this; Are you interested more in camping or backpacking? If you are going to hike a far distance I would highly recommend going with different packs as these packs were made to carry lots of heavy gear and not really made with comfort in mind. Do you really need the strength and the space that these packs provide? - Luke

+TheOutdoorGearReview - Both really. I am a Veteran Infantryman and use to the rugged reliability military gear provides. Especially since I do not like to stay on the trails. As someone who carried a ILBE pack as part of my wilderness school experience, I prefer something that is front opening, where as the ILBE isn't. It makes finding something within the bag really difficult as you have to digdigdig to find it. I also had issues with the quick release system coming undone in diverse environments, making the bag fall from my shoulders while jumping across streams. I ended up taping up the ILBE's QD's to make it some what more reliable. While that's a perfect feature for combat patrols, it's not what you need in a civilian pack. Also the ILBE isn't as large as the V90 is, which is why despite having the ILBE in my closet, the V90 is my new carry pack. Hope I didn't get to the party too late.

+tacticalangler Yes, although somewhat larger...read post above...I have a V69 Destroyer, and it loads as much as an Osprey Aether 85...with only some exceptions (the Aether is a very tall pack, so some things must be strapped along side the Destroyer)but the Eberlestock pack, in my subjective opinion, is a much more comfortable carry...BTW, I have loaded it to 80 lbs...it carries such a load with relative ease, as much as 80 lbs can be carried with ease, but I too am too old to carry that much for prolonged periods...with age comes wisdom and discretion...hopefully...
