I'm always thinking about long-term usability. If something goes wrong with those proprietary electronics you could be out of luck, with a beautiful bike that is rendered useless. Sure the company says they'll stand behind it but who knows how long they will be around given the flood of companies currently in the market. For example, there is no mechanical mechanism to unlock the cafe lock with a key. If the electronics in that lock were to fail, you can wind up in a real jam.
@EbikeEscape11 ай бұрын
Completely agree. Something that definitely has to be considered. Hoping we can see some stability in the coming years, and not have to worry about these type of things.

That cafe lock needs to be standard on all ebikes. That's such a cool way to lock a bike.
@EbikeEscape11 ай бұрын
Agreed. There are only a handful of e-bikes we know that come with them. Thankfully they are easily purchased aftermarket

@@EbikeEscape In Europe Cafe Locks are on most bikes.

E-bike manufacturers keep giving us more and better features like hydraulic breaks for less and less money every year. Its so exciting.

Another good thorough review. I appreciate when you show the display options. I bought a different bike recently, but had I seen this, it would definately been a contender. Thanks

Since there is no way to mechanically unlock the cafe lock with a key, I would be really concerned if the electronics on the lock every failed!

Yeah, good point

I have a Bluetooth/finger print U lock that works like this.... but it comes with a backup key (and needs to be charged every few months)

Great review sir. Very thorough testing. I would like your impressions on ride quality however as compared to other bikes like the Aventon level.2.

Ditto, reminds me a lot of the Ride1Up LMT’d frames (except extra tubing behind the seat tube for the cafe lock cables), fork and major components, but with high power front light, cafe lock and other security features, and obviously a different display and software. It’s also similarly lightweight for this type of ebike. It’s a very nice commuter ebike. The one metric this model falls behind the LMT’d is the peak motor torque of 60Nm vs the 95 of the current LMT’d (my gen 2’s motor has a peak torque of 100Nm). And hey, that flashing function for the headlight is new since I last looked at this bike, so they do update their software!
@EbikeEscape11 ай бұрын
Hit it on the head. This motor is a little bit less powerful. The LMT’d made it up our hill climb on throttle power only.

Love the locking feature on this bike. Looking for a bike to use in the city and I’m always so scared that my bike would be stolen. Do y’all have a “safest” or “securest” bike list?

I like everything about this bike except the electronic cafe lock. What do you do if/when something goes wrong with the lock when it's locked? How do you get it open? There doesn't appear to be any way to open it with a key. It's all electronic, there's nothing physical to fall back on when the electronics fail. I like the idea of a cafe lock but definitely not an electronic one!

Do not like that you can not use a standard stem. To many bells and whistles. Tech is great when it works and you can figure it out. I think this bike has gone a little overboard. I believe in the KISS system (Keep it simple s…}. But it is interesting. After 2 year warranty I would not want to own this bike.
@EbikeEscape11 ай бұрын
KISS is a great method to reference. Time will tell with this bike. I just thought it was cool to see some of these features finally implemented on e-bikes.
@MumfordJim11 ай бұрын
@@EbikeEscape You are correct. These are kind of cool. We got a new car this summer and we are still learning all the features. It has been 12 years since we had gotten a new one. The new features are cool, but I hope they do not break. Glad you showed us this bike.

Nahh... yeah Jim has a good I initial point: e waste potential is high within 5 years
@Mojo-Risin-Risin11 ай бұрын
The tech is nice but no accessories are included. So therefore the price is too high, it cannot compete with other bikes like the Aventon level 2 commuter. If you're going to come into this market you have to be more competitive in price and Accessories They are competitive in tech only with slightly more power...

Our model was shipped early in production. So all bikes purchased now will come with fenders and a rear rack. Putting it on par with the Level.2

Basically almost a direct copy of Ride1Up's LMT'D bike. I bet the battery is the same dimensions. Frame is a little different. Same brakes, same tires.

Definitely some key similarities. I felt that the light, display, and built in lock. Set it apart enough to review. Do you agree?
