Love your videos! You have an awe inspiring way of connecting previous books with newer books. I love reading a certain type of book and I always turn to your videos to read similar books to that particular writing style or plot line 😇

If you liked Anthony Ryan or Joe Abercrombie you should read David Gemmell. The Rigante series is my favorite series.

Hmmm I went for knights of dark renown… didn’t love the writing and character work. Is there a best place to start with Gemmell?
@lacedmilk85862 жыл бұрын
@@alexanderloeb I would say Legend. If you don't vibe with it, I loved it but can see where some might find it "meh", then you probably won't with his other works.

Another good comparison for Gallant is the Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert! They are actually very similar stories where a girl and her mother have been running from their creepy home and the things that live there. I also feel like they have very similar atmospheres! ☺️

I’m currently reading Justice of Kings and Spin the Dawn! 😆 I’m about half way through JoK and it is fantastic so far! Almost done with StD and I agree that the first half was much better than the second. So I’m excited to try A Magic Steeped in Poison!

The hardcover of A Magic Steeped in Poison isn’t even listed to buy in the UK, just the paperback in September. Very frustrating as it’s such a pretty cover!

Nothing to do with fantasy but I've just finished a book that was a 5 stars for me so I just need to say it: if you like The Phatom of the Opera you should read Phantom by Susan Kay. Basically is Eric's life story. 🤗🇦🇷

The Justice of Kings is one that I really want to get to because of the themes. I tend to agree with things like term limits, multiple party systems, and multiple branches of government. But there is the question of infrastructure, which keeps coming up in our cities and countries. NYC always talks about their subway system in the mayor's races, and it is always said that fixing and upgrading them will be a muli- billion dollar project that will take over a decade to complete. I think one of the former NYC mayors said something like 'no mayor can fix the subways, because they won't get to cut the tape when the subways are fixed.' Countries that have less problems with their train system is China, who has high speed rail in all their major cities. The whole one party state thing is bad, and there are definitely major abuses of power there, but having power that consolidated gives some advantages for big projects. Tldr I have thoughts on those themes 😂😅
