I just have to say - I love that you partnered with a more accessible company. I hate when people work with companies that have incredibly high prices that you know they would never have gotten products from had they not been sent the items for free. These bags look incredible and are way less expensive that I guessed they would be. I am definitely getting one ASAP!

Daughter of the Forest is a beautiful book that has forbidden love! And I don’t know how into Shojo manga you are (I really only know that you like FMA and Vinland Saga 😅), but Yona of the Dawn is a great coming of age story that has a slow burn bodyguard/protector romance.

Forbidden love: Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb. It wasn’t the primary story but it certainly weighed heavy on the protagonist.
@IndustrialBonecraft3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Hobb actually wrote a romance I could deal with. It didn't read like the usual neckbeard wish fulfilment that unfortunately pervades the genre...

3:42 Fruits Basket this is literally the only romance story I like (it's more than just a romance but it's definitely I key element)

I just picked up "Only a monster" today at the bookstore today. It has an enemies to lovers storyline and a past love betrayal. I'm excited to read it, I haven't heard much about it. All I know from the synopsis is their are monsters and monster hunters and out main character is a monster.

Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey has a combined forbidden love/protector element to the primary relationship, but it's a big book full of adventure and politics and sex, so it takes quite a while to reach the romance part.

The Queen of Blood books were my absolute favorite of 2021. So So So good. I loved them so much that I keep thinking I will re-read them soon. There are so many more books I want to read, but I will likely re-read them sometime this year. So good.

Cassandra Clare has a whole lot of forbidden love…like in every series. But I think the one in the dark artifices is good but it’s more urban fantasy so not sure if that’s your vibe

I read The Shadow Of The Fox and sequels after seeing your thoughts on the trilogy (and got the UK covers, too), and while I am not much of a romance reader and was more excited about the Japanese lore, the romantic relationships were definitely a very cute aspect in the series that progressed interestingly within each book.

Forbidden romance trope: The Age of Darkness Trilogy by Katy Rose Pool. Also I'd say that there's something reminiscent of forbidden romance in The Kingdoms by Natasha Pulley too, although this is more speculative fiction than actual fantasy.

For the different worlds trope (albeit only a moderate theme) Echoes and Empires by Morgan Rhodes! Picked up the ebook on a whim, DEVOURED it in 4 hours (instead of trying to read my CR! Was honestly such a fun read, fast-paced, realistic / flawed characters, tension and dangers, twists that actually made me go wait WHAT?! Was pretty sad to realise it had literally just been released in Jan 22, meaning foreverrrr for a sequel! Also sad I couldn't get a physical copy in Australia just yet (ugh), but overall, highly recommend if you're after something that's not necessarily breaking the mold, but super fun/quick!

I think I would be the grump in a grump sunshine relationship 😂 Mistborn definitely has the love from different classes. Forbidden love often is the other side of arranged marriage trope. I'm thinking of Sword of Kaigen, where Misaki had the choice for either arranged marriage or forbidden love.

Magic of Blood and Sea by Cassandra Rose Clarke. It's very under rated... No one knows it but it's good 3.89 on good reads, I put 4 but I want to reread it so I might change it to a five after I reread it I'm sure.

For forbidden love trope check out Into the Heartless Wood by Joanna Ruth Meyer or The First Girl Child by Amy Harmon. For the grumpy/sunshine I can recommend Silver in the Woods by Emily Tesh and its sequel, Drowned Country, both are short and can be read in one sitting.
