It really is for educational purposes. None of the concepts he spoke about are relevant in todays world at all anymore. As he said, http is replaced with https. And something he didnt say is that telnet has been long ago replaced by ssh. So interesting stuff for an early network security class but impractical nevertheless.

@@randokaratajev2617 yup he's used his new computer in many other videos to show "educational videos" of techniques that only work on older computers (which he has admitted multiple times) what's your point? @@jeffurso9748 security blogs are often where you find the nieche really technical stuff. Some professionals post some of their findings online usually on personal blogs to further gain reputation in their career. An example would be ”niemand cyber security blog” that posts nieche stuff about windows security and anti cheats. But thats just one nieche blog, you will most likely stumble upon some blog when you google search for a nieche topic of your interest. EDIT: they are often standalone websites hosted by the author or sometimes hosted as articles on various platforms

Tip: In order to view the whole conversation in wireshark, right click on a packet that is part of the conversation, click Follow and then click TCP Stream. This will show you the entire TCP conversation. This works for udp and other protocols as well, just choose the corresponding option.

im a newbie in networking, what does tcp and udp do exactly? if https is on port 443 what does the protocols tcp and udp have anything to do with it? (or any other port)
@mrsnowy33438 ай бұрын
@@johndank2209 Hi, first of all I suggest you take a look at the TCP/IP layers model, tcp and udp are protocols in the transport layer and are the ones handling the ports and are holding the conversation each protocol works a bit differently, TCP makes sure the information gets passed and is not lost and UDP doesn't, UDP is usually used for small bits of information which needs to arrive fast like live streaming. TCP is used for large amounts because we don't want to lose it. Ports are like doors that can be open or close inside servers and they just allow traffic through if they are open. https doesn't have a port itself but it has a common port which is 443. If you have any other questions you can ask me.
