As a sneaker head I like the yeezy 700 but not that mauve colorway and as soon as I saw the leaked pictures a while back I still thought that and so did many other people, so I feel like the case of the mauve not selling out is a colorway specific thing. Also people need to understand that yeezys sell out in seconds because of resellers and their bots due to the limited numbers in production of the sneakers. When adidas releases way more numbers in production like they have with the past couple of sneakers it takes away the motivation for resellers to purchase multiple pairs of the shoes because it drives down after market / resell prices. This coupled with the fact that the yeezy 700 in particular is about $300 not including taxes and shipping costs, stops way more people (resellers or average consumers) from wanting the shoe. I think one of the only reasons that the last yeezy 700 did sell out is because there was way more hype to that specific colorway and also because of the fact that the colorway was just really good. And, it’s not like the last colorway sold out right away as well, because it didn’t. It took at least 30-45 minutes to fully sell out on all marketplaces, plus, Kanye also said that he wanted his sneakers to be available for purchase when ever, he wanted to see his sneakers sitting on a shelf in a store where anyone could buy them. So, I really don’t know how much you can connect his sneakers and the sales of his sneakers to his very open political views. I do think Kanye himself did affect his sneaker sales in a bad way but he didn’t necessarily drive down the sales. If he’s realeasing more sneakers now than before it is very likely that he is still selling the same numbers, if not more than before, when he sold in much more limitied quantities. But as far as the shoes really selling out, I do think it is his fault that they’re not, but I don’t think it is connected with his very open political stance but rather with a business decision that he made.
