ECCO's Philosophy on Shoes and How the Company Works

Hello from Denmark, my father had a pair of ecco shoes when i was a kid, those things lasted forever, he also had a metal Casio watch, that thing was indestructible. i have a deep love for things that last, it is not often today you get to own an object you have a relationship with, but a pair of eccos will be your friend.

They are expensive but I’ve been wearing them for 25 years and have few problems..also in the London stores the staff are very helpful ...much better and more hard wearing than expensive trainers and also a very sleek modern look

Ecco is the best shoe ever made. Mine are 3 years old and for some reason they don’t even stink.

I've purchased 8 pair of Ecco shoes over the years - 7 of which were within the past 10 years - between 2009 and 2016. I first noticed my dress pair of black Ecco shoes felt "spongy" back in 2017 when I wore them with a suit to an event but I didn't look too closely at the time. When I went to wear them again in the fall of 2018 I found that the shoe soles were disintegrating and there was a rubber powder in the box where I would store my shoes. In June of 2019 I noticed another pair of brown suede casual shoes felt "spongy" in the heel and I examined them and found the shoe heel had cracks on both shoes. In August another pair of brown casual shoes felt spongy in the heel area when I walked on them and both of those shoes had the beginnings of cracks. Lastly, a black casual pair that I bought in 2009 and wore regularly throughout the year since purchasing them began separating from the upper shoe body. This is 4 pair of shoes whose soles have disintegrated (or began to) in a period of less than 2 years! I have well over $500 invested in these shoes - all of which have been well taken care of.

I've used Ecco shoes since the 1970's starting with the iconic Ecco Free and have yet to have a sole disintegrate on any pair. I think it must be a problem with hotter, more humid climates. I live in Sweden where it's often very dry during wintertime and only gets more damp in summertime and only usually have moderate heat like in the 25C's. Unfortunate that you and others have had problems though and one can only hope that manufacturers work hard on making compounds that can last in any type of climate. Only pair of shoes I've had disintegrate on me is a pair of 1980's Nike Air, where the soles did like you're describing. But with the Nike they were stored improperly a while in a damp attic, so that could be the cause.

Euro sizes do not need half sizes, one US size it's 8,4 millimetres, one euro size it's 6,6 millimetres. US need the 4,2 mm half size, while Euro 3,3 mm would not be a perceptible difference.

What kind of philosophy does your company have when everyone's Ecco shoes soles are crambling and falling a part as seing all over the internet and you can't do anything to help your customer's of decades? pls people, read on line the problems regarding Ecco shoes and how they treat their customers. there's no desire and respect to help them when they have a problem, also when you buy from their website you can not send it back if does not fit you or you don't like it. Type Ecco shoes crambling on line and you will read all the complaints about it and how they won't help you out.

The original Danish shoes were the best. I had a pair for years until the soles worn out. My local shoe repair shop said they couldn't be repaired. ECCO offered a resole program. I sent my shoes them...but they returned them and said 'no go' can't be fixed. So I was out of luck right? Wrong...I have a friend from Delhi who has been polishing my shoes (boot polish wala) since 1987. He also repairs shoes. He took my ECCO Cross shoes and rebuilt the whole bottom section. He resurrected my shoes in a way ECCO, the manufacturer, couldn't. Santosh Kumar, a true master craftsman!
