2003 Honda S2000 Ap1 to Ap2 Headlight Conversion (Instructional DIY)

It took me about 1 week to wait for all the parts to arrive, but the AP2 Headlight conversion is finally complete. I didn't cut or retrofit anything as I purchased all OEM AP2 parts and everything bolted right up. This conversion is only plug and play if you get all the proper AP2 parts.
The only thing that I'd make a note of is the harness wire (Part #: 33147-s2a-a11). It's really hard to find and Honda has it on back order. Luckily, I only had to make one myself because one of the ballasts came with one already.
Take your time and get new bumper clips, zip ties, headlight sealant and new OEM parking & blinker bulbs. You might as well replace those once the headlights are off.

I have been doing some research for the same conversion, it will cost $2084, plus tax. Headlight $433 a piece Wires $48 a piece Ballasts $333 a piece Igniters are $228 a piece keep in mind this is for all Genuine honda parts not ebay BS.. I don't think its worth replacing since I hardly drive my S2000 at night. I am alway afraid someone will hit me at night. but thanks for the video

I am looking to do this same conversion - ap2 headlights to my ap1. I plan to leave the ap1 bumper as is. The used headlights I am looking at are said to be very low mileage essentially perfect condition with all parts included for plug and play into ap1, including bulbs, ap2 ballasts, etc. Does the ap2 wire that goes from the ap2 headlights to the ap1 car harness have the same plug on the end so it snaps right in? EDIT - After working on this a little clarification is needed - if you purchase complete ap2 headlights - new or used - they will plug right into your ap1 wiring harness without any additional parts or harnesses and without the need to do ANY modification of any kind. My ap2 headlights were simply unplugged and removed from a low mileage wrecked ap2, and they plug right into my ap1. Plug and Play. If you do not purchase complete ap2 headlights, you can make it work, but some modifications will be needed to make the necessary connections.

I love what you did to your car! I'm saving for a S2k myself and I want to buy the AP1 for 9k reasons, but I'll try to upgrade the head and rear lights, since the AP2 look much better. Also, do you know if it's possible (and how hard) to swap the interior parts, particularly to put in that cool sliding cup holder thing next to the gear stick :) Gauge cluster would be nice to get upgraded, but 9k... I need to do more research

What size wire did you used to make the positive and negative connectors? 16 gauge ?

I can't remember exactly, I believe it was between 14-16 gauge.

Hi I am interest in upgrading my AP1 headlights to AP2,I found all the parts from honda majestic they even have that wire you had hard time finding, You mention the igniter is like $282 a piece . can you post all the parts I need to get to complete my upgrade ? thanks

Hi Richard, sorry for the delayed reply. I only found one igniter and that was on ebay. I realized that this part was so hard to find so I ended up just making my own harness and it worked for the other headlight. I hope that helps!

Well I have to take it a step further because when the previous owner put AP2 housings in he chopped up the wires and hacked in some ebay LED bulbs. This is a shit show.
