Buying a Hardtop for the Honda S2000: Things to Look Out For

Hey fellow S2k owners! One of the best purchases to make for your car is buying a hardtop. It completely changes the look of the car and transforms it to an aggressive roadster. There are so many different options to pick from. Should you go with OEM and fork out the money, or spend way less and get an aftermarket one? What brands are out there and will I run into any issues with fitment?
I answer all of those questions in this video! Hopefully this helps S2000 owners who are still looking for that middle ground.

I bought my used oem Honda hardtop for $2700.00 plus oem Honda hardwares $500.00 and plus $500.00 to get it painted. I installed the oem hardtop with a friend so theTotal was around $3700.00. This was like 12 years ago. Oem is way to go! 👍 no problem and no headache

I bought my s2000 last year on September. Im only 20 years old and I own my car of my dreams. I told myself before I had my s2k that I was going to do legit parts for my car not cheap. So with that being said, yes I'm going for the oem hardtop even though it's more expensive but I want the best parts for my car. That's just my way of seeing my car. Nice video ! Bought one from Forbidden USA, waiting for shipment. Wish I could afford the OEM but it's way to expensive. My S is not daily so aftermarket will do just fine.

Nice Ruben! It's been 4 years and I haven't had any issues with the top except for seals and little adjustments here and there. I'm actually going back to get their OEM hardware kit. Will have a video up!

Fyi you can get colored plexiglass. Just look up a plexiglass vendor in your city,and they will sell you a blackened piece cut however you want. Makes it look like tint. Cost me like 80 bucks!

I have an oem hardtop, love it. It allows you to remove soft top and lower car weight. I installed an Oem CR rear tonneau cover and car looks cool in convertible mode too. Zero wind noise, no rattle, but only flaw is area were a-pillar, hardtop, and window meet, drops of water seep in during washing.

Echizen32k Media I don't. But if you really want to know what it looks like you can google "s2000 cr rear cover" I also installed the oem rear brace that gives the car 10% extra rigidity, that goes where the soft top was before, but it's not necessary in order to install the rear cover.

Locking latches, and seat bolts have reduced a lot of my anxiety, however i still check my AP2 daily before venturing off to work.

Out of curiosity. Is that a OEM hardtop replacement glass from ballade or is it just aftermarket ? Stuck on whether or not I wanna do what you did or get the glass upgrade through forbidden.

Hey, how has the forbidden hardtop held up theast few years? Is it still worth buying? You have the FRP hardtop right? I'm stuck between the FRP oem style or the carbon mugen style. Both look great

Some lowlife just broken in my car and took my hardtop 2 days ago inside the apartment with security guards and now i don't even can get a OEM replacement! ps never let your S2000 out of your sight!

+Echizen32k Media Did you have any issues with the forbidden OEM hardtop sitting flush in the back. I also am having a issue with there being a small hole where the edge of the door and the hardtop meet?? HELP PLZ

Yes, I actually had an issue where the hardtop was rising up during freeway speeds. I took the car back to them and they took the top off and added an extra layer of padding and the issues was resolved. As far as sitting flush, it's about 90% and you have to play with it here and there to get it to fit well. I still like their tops better than all the other aftermarket ones. As for your hole by the door, I'd say you have to adjust the brackets and have a friend help you hold down the top while you tighten it. It takes a few tries to get the top to sit perfectly right. Does that help?

I’m planning on looking at a genuine oem top already painted Sebring silver for 3400 with minor damage(scratch on the back ). What should I look for in terms of making sure it’s genuine?

I'm pretty sure they don't make any aftermarket OEM hardtops. So the shape should give it away. Also ideally get one with the defrost cables and the oem hardware ( in England the hardware costs the same as a hardtop!)

I have never owned a Mugen style top from them, but I'm sure fitment is just as good. I just swung by their shop not too long ago. I'll have a video up soon!
