Enjoyed your list, the Swamp Rabbits are named after an old rail train that ran from Tennessee to Greenville, SC back in the day and it was called a Swamp Rabbit because it was a fast way to get through the swamp. Also, the top of the carrot is grey to represent the smoke plume from the train.

One more very important point....the rail train is now one of the most popular Rail to Trails in the Southeast. It's one of the town's biggest tourist attractions. The name was changed to Swamp Rabbits to go along with the trail. The team used to be called the "Road Warriors!" And before that, the team was called the Greenville Grrowwl and the mascot was a dog!

I truly appreciate to the guy on the left of the video that put the Fort Wayne Komets at number 1. One of the most successful minor league sports teams in all of sports going on 66 years strong with 9 league championships. This team has one of the loudest and strongest fanbases in hockey. The logos look busy but it's suppose to be Wild because our motto is the Jungle so we like to be a little Wild. Plus, the hurricane logo you saw with the Komets wordmark is symbolic to its tradition for over 50 years. Finally if you're wondering while it's spelled Komets one of the three founders of the Komets was named Kathryn and they wanted a name that was fast and entertaining along with honoring one of the owners's wives by speaking the name with a K. This is the team I've grown up listening going to games and cheering loudly for. Thank you very very much!

I I need to go sooooo bad this year! I never had a chance to go to a game last year due to my first year of college and busy schedule and I am a huge Komets fan. However, I still listened to some of the games and still kept track of their season nevertheless just need to get back to the old days and go to a few games this year. Been a huge Komets fan for about 12 years been through it all changing leagues winning cups and even some adversity. I have 4 pucks including an old komet puck from the 70s one signed an autographed News Sentinel 2012 champs article when I met in person with Colin Chaulk several Komet posters several komet cards shirt apparel a jacket and two komet jerseys one signed by Chaulk himself during that hour meeting at their practice facility, plus two dvds of their last two championships in 2010 and 2012. I was so lucky to have witness them win the 9th and last championship we won back in 2012 and that was one heck of a hockey team Chaulk Brett Smith DeAngelis Chris Auger Bobby Chaumont Nick Boucher Leo Thomas Kaliegh Schrock Tom Mele and Jaimie Milam. I am majoring in communications at IPFW and I am hoping someday I ever get a chance to be a hockey broadcaster maybe for my hometown Komets if that opportunity presented itself. I hope this year is the year we win the Kelly Cup! We may lose some good players but I still think we have the grit talent and hard work to become a champion we just need to stay healthy be more disciplined and find a solution to FINALLY beat Toledo in a playoff series. Is it October Yet? I cannot wait for another exciting year for hockey. Go Komets!

The right side logo is our normal logo and the middle is suppose to be a fireball/comet itself. The left logo was our alternate logo we used for our 3rd jerseys, but sadly we aren't using those jerseys anymore.

The Everblades did design their logo around blades, the gator is supposed to be the shape of the skate boot and the text is supposed to be the actual blade of the skate. Even though it takes sometime to actually visualize it that's what it's supposed to be. Just a little heads up

Same when they played Adirondack. Ahead 2-0 in a playoff clinching game for the Thunder. A stupid idiot for them takes a game penalty. Thunder score 4 GOALS in 10 MINUTES and win the game 5-4. Then the Solar Bears blew a 3-1 lead in round 1.

For all the ones hating on the SwampRabbits I'm from the Greenville area and it's named after a trail we have here called the swamp rabbit trail a nod to the history of the town. And yes we do have shirts with just the rabbit portion , we are also known to have once a team called the Greenville Grrrowl.

The person in Thunder's logo is a viking and vikings are mostly from Norway. Norway's mythology happends to have Thor, the god of thunder who wears a helmet with wings instead of horns, that's why the wings are there.

The Adirondack logo (which used to be Stockton's before they moved to the AHL) is supposed to be Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, whose helmet has wings on it. Stockton picked that logo because of their large Nordic population, so, when Adirondack became Calgary's affiliate, they took the logo and updated the colors.

"Swamp rabbit" was a nicknames from I believe a civil war general that went through Greenville (where the team is located). I believe that's what I heard, but I know for sure it's a historical based name unique to the city, not just random lol they used to be called the road warriors

The Komets have been around since 1952, and that's longer than most NHL and almost all the AHL teams, and that buzzsaw logo has been a part of the team since 1970. It's just like the Indianapolis Colts' logo. It's vintage.

The Hershey Bears (1932) are the only franchise older than Ft Wayne. The original Komets played in the IHL between 1952-90. This team moved to Albany, becoming the Albany choppers, which subsequently folded in 1991. Also in 1990, the Franke family of Ft Wayne assembled a group of local businesses that purchased the Flint Spirits and relocated them to Ft Wayne. Mirroring the NFL's Cleveland Browns, Ft Wayne retained the rights to the name, lineage, and history of the Komets, and so the Flint Spirits were "reflagged" as the Ft Wayne Komets. This iteration of the franchise had played its first five seasons in Flint, beginning in 1985.

the reason why the reading logo's lion is purple is (not only is it the team color obviously) but the color was chosen bc purple is often referred to or thought of as the color of royalty and the team name is the royals, therefore purple.

Go Komets! I live like 30 miles from Fort Wayne, and I've gone to like 5 games! the reason the Komets logo is Orange is because that's the teams main color. Also, the cyclone shaped thing behind the left logo for the Komets is a comet with fire coming from it I think. And the Komets would beat the swamp rabbits probably. Behind the name Swamp Rabbits. The official name is the Carolina, Knoxville and Western Railway, but passengers fondly nickname it the Swamp Rabbit. It is believed the name came from the wetlands along the Reedy River that the line traversed and the bouncy nature of the ride.

Fun facts about Wheeling: 1.) It is the oldest ECHL team in continual operation, since beginning in 1981 as the Carolina Thunderbirds in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League and eventually moving to Wheeling in 1992 and joining the ECHL. 2. A trademark dispute with the Seattle Thunderbirds forced the team to rename itself in 1996. "Nailers" was chosen to honor Wheeling's nail manufacturing industry, which dates back to 1934, followed by the first industrial mill in the Midwest for nail production in 1847. 3. The team colors were originally red and black. After the Nailers became the lower-level affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, the team adopted the parent club's colors in 2012: vegas gold and black, which have remained to the present.

Back in the day, the kalamazoo wings werenamed the Michigan K-Wings. They actually have a secondary (alternate) logo that is just the "K" with the wing. I live in Kalamazoo and this community really supports the team. For me they'll always be the K-wings.

The reason the new Norfolk (Pronounced NOR-fik, by the way) Admirals logo looks like a step backwards is that they literally took their logo from 1989, inverted the blue and yellow, and added the "Norfolk Admirals" verbage and badge around it. Huge naval town so I assume the homage to a (Navy) badge is intentional, but I agree it looks very outdated.

I fucking love the Solar Bears logo. It's a polar bear, in Orlando and they're called the SOLAR bears. It's creative, it's unique and it's actually funny in a not-cheesy(or at least mostly not) way. Just a brilliant idea and great execution.

Komets definitely have the most random theming in hockey. Fans call the stadium "the jungle", our main mascot is "Icy D Eagle", and our logo is a Komet with a K. Our logo used to be the captain Komet which matches better. Icy holds a special spot in the hearts of all fans. It's unique and makes for a special place to cheer on the best team in the league (well, maybe not this year, but I feel we are way underrated ;) Thanks for the #1.

Swamp Rabbits are named for old steam engine that ran though Greenville, SC. Has nothing to do with rabbits in a swamp. The rabbits hock stick isn't a carrot either. It's a piston with steam blowing out to represent that steam engine. Btw, Go Gladiators!!

The Norfolk Admirals logo is to go with the navy and its a throwback to when the team first started out as the Hampton Roads Admirals when they were in the ECHL the first time.

It is funny that you guys liked the Wichita Thunder logo so much because here when they rolled out with it last year EVERYONE hated it compared to the one they changed it from. It has grown on me a little bit.
