I am highly confused, which is it? Do we want to escape into a world that is mind numbing or do we simply not want to be lectured? Because I feel that there is no winning anymore within the entertainment industry. Yes I do agree that the writing has definitely been sub par - to put it lightly, so how can Hollywood turn this ship around? Great stories always seem to ask the individual a deep moralistic question artistically crafted within the story. It is evident that is missing. However when I hear people say "stop lecturing me, I just want to be entertained" I feel that then leads to the mind numbing theme park movies Scorsese was talking about, yes people care for these characters because either they are fans of their source material, but also because they were well crafted/written characters. Nowadays the characters identity is their defining characteristics which is such a shame. I say bring back the skilled writers because these activists don't know how to write compelling stories and characters without addressing their own agendas as the be all end all. Therefore sacrificing both the story and the character.
@runoke9 ай бұрын
Incredibly simple. Stop giving jobs to people for quota reasons. Script writing is the toughest artistic job to do right, and the easiest to pretend to do. So it is currently occupied by people who's only quality is their social disability. Healing won't be immediate, because you will need smart and talented people to believe that they would be able to contend on the job market without having 50 shades of genetic parentage or sexual attraction to fat vegan lizards. But it will happen in a generation.

a lot of people are watching movies nowadays because they are looking for something they consider "woke" so that they can be angry about it and you can't win with people like that. no matter what you do or how hard you try, these people will always find something that is "woke" and complain about it because that is what they want.

I think you hit on something that makes a big difference - the writers are often writing lectures on issues they are concerned about in real life. Not issues it makes sense for characters to be worried about in their world. And they tell, and rarely show. You don't feel like you're watching an exploration of an issue that exists in that world but also happens to relate to the real world. You feel like the writers hijacked the script to shout at you about their childhood trauma. There's a little room for writing an issue into a movie or show that is really only an issue in the real world. But only a little.
@tshepomaesela60459 ай бұрын
@@rachelclark6393 I Like what you said about how these writers hijack the characters to address their own "real world issues". Which I feel then hampers both the story and the character. However I fear that this will only lead them to double down on addressing these issues as that's all they care about. These writers are incapable of creating their own original story/content, as that will require talent to engage and interest an audience. Therefore they will continue to hijack already well-known IP's with a baked in audience to lecture towards. They clearly don't like the audience and take great pleasure in ruining their once beloved IP - which is very despicable. I am however not against talented writers crafting an interesting story which will address "real world issues", in their own original story. Nevertheless we know these big studios won't take such huge risks on original content because all they care about is turning a profit and ESG scores. If 2023 hasn't proven how abysmal the box office performances have been, I guess nothing will change. I am just a simple man asking for good storytelling, how difficult can it be? It seems with the current climate - the answer is very difficult.

Your embodying everything you accuse the "evil woke SJWs" of being by calling movies bad because they're woke and have strong women in them instead of criticizing them based on the merits of their story, then gaslighting anyone who calls you toxic for this

How did you manage to cut it down to just 50?

This is what happens when an old school industry think they know how to get with the times and appeal to young people.
@TF2CrunchyFrog9 ай бұрын
They don't want to "appeal to young people", stop blindly parroting what you think makes you sound edgy. Corporations want to sell products. Disney is deadly afraid that people will "cancel" them if they don't conform their product to the current demands of "diversity" and "presentation". So basically they give people what people claim they want. Unfortunately this goes along with terrible writing as script writers with ideological agendas tend to produce Mary-Sue characters.

Ah, so Dave Filoni follows Lazlo's ideology, "If you're going to fail, fail up!"

Media overload. On top of that, a sprinkling of identity politics and zero imagination.

I knew this video wouldn't be that comprehensive because if it was, it would run for three solid hours. 😂
