i think he is trying to emulate Malcolm X ... and if he is, you can see why his story is the way it is, because he is only taking the EARLY YOUNG VERSION of Malcom Xs personality, politics, and beliefs. The elder Malcolm X, likely would have beat the spit out of Director X.

Even if the ancient Egyptians were African-adjacent (which contemporary depictions show them closer to Phoenicians/Hittites/Assyrians/Babylonians than anything else)... Cleopatra was not ancient Egyptian, she was a member of the Ptolemaic Dynasty who were Greek in origin. There is a 0% chance she was black. The whole ordeal and defensiveness of the showrunners was just so preposterous it is honestly hilarious. Don't call yourself a documentary and then act indignant when people call you out on your BS. A black actress playing Cleo is as accurate and cool as John Wayne playing Genghis Khan, pilgrim.

There has even been some DNA testing from mummies, at least one I remember indicated that a) most of the modern Egyptians are descendants of those people, not "recent invaders" as the Afrocentrists seem to claim and b) those mummies had fewer, not more, sub-Saharan markers in their DNA than modern Egyptians have. But no, nothing matters except what some people WANT to be. And yes, a black Cleopatra, or a completely black ancient Egypt, why the hell not if that makes you happy, make all the series and movies you want (as long as you have the money... well, if they were well done and entertaining stories I suppose they would get good enough an audience - although it might still piss off Egyptians) but do not call them documentaries or docuseries then. And if they want a real documentary of black Egyptian rulers, why haven't they made one of the Kushite dynasties? Everybody agrees that those were black, as far as I know. And the Kushite empire itself did rival Egypt at times, and even had some powerful queens ruling. So why Cleopatra, instead of trying to make one of those queens better known? Because everybody already knows Cleopatra? Choose only already well-known individuals? I guess that is why Afrocentrists seem to be more interested in trying to blackwash at least some parts of white, or at least paler, history - because that is already well known - instead of trying to find out and popularize real sub-Saharan African history. It's easier? Or on some level, they actually think that white folks were always more powerful and more inventive so what they want is at least parts of the white history for theirs. Hm.

It’s okay to me, it was shot expertly and acted very well but I think Mike Flanagan isn’t all he’s cracked up to be when it comes to writing. Make no mistake he’s absolutely leagues better than those around him in the industry but I think he’s just mediocre compared to other horror works. One thing I don’t like of him in particular is his name taking of famous works and basically making his own work with the name recognition. While I love the TV series HOHH it I think missed the mark on what made the novel so like in the mid 20th century and I think fumbled on the ending. Overall he’s a good writer but I think is more of a one trick pony whom I believe tries to do justice to old works of horror and suspense but absolutely can’t hold a candle to Shirley Jackson and edger Allen Poe.

I thought The Fall of the House of Usher was pretty good, personally. As a Poe fan, I was genuinely shocked how well Flanagan managed to weave together so many stories and poems into an arcing narrative. Some references were pretty obvious, but a lot were far more subtle and missable, and spoke to a deeper understanding of the source material than I was expecting. It wasn't perfect, but it was definitely my favourite of Flanagan's Netflix projects. Couldn't disagree more on that one.

What an awful list. I agree with most of these, but The Fall Of The House of Usher is a very good season of television. I don’t know much about Edgar Allen Poe, but it would have been much more cringy if it went verbatim to his original work. It took and left just enough and was a cool original concept inspired by poetry. Loki season 2 is also, probably Marvels best original Disney plus show; it isn’t preachy, boring or stretched out, it’s just like a 6 hour movie that doesn’t get muddled by a worthless B plot with Renslayer

They are all pretty bad but Velma has got to be #1. It's an unrecognizable generational-level embarrassment a million miles from the tone and structure of the original. Based on the hand drawn, innocent, cheesy but endearing short stories about a talking dog and his very different friends solving spooky mysteries, we get an updated version with gore, sex, drugs, and racial politics. Thank you for making a beloved classic into a nasty divisive mess unfit for children. At least they straight up left Scooby out of it. This show stands as an objective insult to its own source material hiding behind a thin guise of diversity. The creators of the original would be puking in their soup. What has their hard work become? Why does every classic property have to be 'deconstructed' so self-centered semi-celebrity snobs can cash in on better artists' work? How does that pass as creativity? This is anti-culture that deserves all the criticism it receives and more. The people who made this consider the original problematic but found this version to be worth making. Should tell you all you need to know

The biggest problem with all of today’s programming is the lack of originality. They lack imagination. They can’t come up with an original story, so they remake an old one with their new “woke” messaging. Creativity is dead. It was sacrificed on the altar of diversity. South Korea is the rising star in the entertainment industry. America has lost its ability to put out quality content.

Only likeable underrated female character in Disney Star Wars is Omega from Bad Batch she is cute she shows emotions she cares for her team unlike Ahoska makes most cringest poses front of camera and somehow stays fine running through the ships bolts blasts and even fight them in space what kinda of lame idea is this?🙄 Filoni is toxic simp

Okay. So far the list here is okay. But Loki S2 and “Fall of the House of Usher”, do not belong on this list! Both shows are incredible! While House of Usher May be cutting and pasting May of Poe’s one shot stories into an overarching narrative, at least it’s a better effort than say stretching Out a Short tale into an entire movie series. While Marvel has been been suffering from A lot of Creative backlash, I can understand some movies/shows not working for some folks, like She-Hulk or Thor or Captain Marvel. But that doesn’t mean the entire Superhero Genre is dying. Maybe DC is, but even they have pumped out a few Hits! Still, between Loki vs Secret Invasion! Secret Invasion the Worst Adaptation of the Comics by Far! It is Staggering how Backwards it is! Compared to Loki S1 and S2! This show is written to a Sublime Degree! Not to mention Marvel grabbed one of the most Talented Writers/Directors to date being Ke Huy Quan! The man that starred in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once! Also managed to Kick off a Really Good Chinese Action Adventure Family Drama called “American Born Chinese”, a narrative that involves the Mythological Monkey King and his Son, and entanglement of a Mortal family living in America while struggling with personal troubles in relation with each other while also showing how the struggles of many people from different ethnicities are still struggling to be recognized. When you have a guy like that involved with Loki S2. You Know the show will hit it off big!

I think you mixed lizzo and the dinosaurbeast with each other... As for Cleopatra, part of the blackwashing the western world, I couldn´t even give rottentomatoes -number, as I was kicked out when giving wrong ratings to captain marvel and other garbage, and then didn´t bother to make a new account. That snitch was huge, but still, obviosly a snitch.

From that amazing list I saw Cleo-patra (and the previous "season"), just to see how accurate it was. It didn't disappoint. Calling House of Usher one of the worst... hard to believe. It's not prime Flanagan, but it's not "bad". What really bothered me was that the characters were flat out *evil* and cartoonish, and the theme was *again* around big pharma and opioids (there's also the sackler's saga, and pain hustlers). But it is stil enjoyable. I expect to watch Robyn from December, I'm hoping for a so bad is good kind of thing. I hope they take themselves very seriously.

Will we ever, as humans, collectively come to learn the lesson that history and our bodies have been trying to teach us for hundreds of years? The lesson that overly large/powerful corporations and governments are bad for human happiness and flourishing. When any human group becomes too large, it falls victim to "group-think" and becomes a hyper-concious being all its own with its own drives and motivations - eventually forsaking the happiness of the individuals that constitute it for the safety and survival of itself as a group entity. Disney, Netflix, and other conglomerates, by definition, do not have your best interests at heart. They want your time, attention, and money. Demographics and viewship - metrics. That's all we are to them. As a society, we are doomed unless we make a convious effort to get off the streaming/subscription/consumption/screen-addicted/hedonsistic/dopamine treadmill that corporations are so desparate to keep us on. Happiness is not found in its persuit but is found through the bonds you make with other humans through life's adversities. Corporations like Disney want to take that adversity away from you and replace it with the perception safety given by your trust in brands and icons. Resist my fellow slaves. Sadly, one needs accounts with the largest social media corporations to get the word out. Oh well.

With "The Mandalorian" they should have just made a short series about Bo-Katan. Jamming that story into something called "The Mandalorian Season 3" showed a lack of courage.

Feminists can't write a female hero. All they can do is to try to grab an audience by replacing male characters. For female writers, narcissism is a problem and so is feminist misandry. Something I find interesting is that feminists hate Ripley, (Aliens) Alice (Resident Evil) and Selene (Underworld) because they are too much like men. My take is that they hate those popular female action movie characters because they're heterosexual and not misandrist. Anyhow, Katee Sackhoff is a good actress. A Bo-Katan show might easily have found an audience if the writers were competent. Sadly, Star Wars is now only able to show asexual Rey or wooden Ahsoka female characters. Feminist writers are garbage.

I agree with 9 out of 10. The only thing that bothers me is that Loki is in this list. I love that show and can see it going several ways such as God of stories or Avenger prime. Time travel and the multiverse is handled really well, Lokis character development is perfect. only complaint would be that its 6 episodes like season 1 was.

Yeah 100%, I literally made a comment above as to even why it's even on this list, I was quite happy with it and so are a good chunk of audiences and critics, the creator of the video himself says it's narrative, plot and character deserve an appropriate amount of consideration, so why is it even here?, Feels sketchy imo

I didn't even watch any of these shows. But thanks to how resorting to an ideology for your message turns your show into a trite exercise in regurgitation there honestly was no need to watch them; I already knew all there was to know before even the first scene was shot, let alone the whole season. Watching a train wreck play out does have some entertainment value, but mostly it's just sad.
