Great demo! Just as a note, the Catalinbread Echorec also has adjustable gain and modulation controls, but are trimpots inside the pedal.

I bought the Boonar because it most closely resembles the physical layout and effect of the original. It takes a bit of time getting to know it. The preamp effect is incredible.

Thanks for doing this, it's generally just the same studio professionals demoing all new pedals and you just get no actual context how it sounds for a regular player nor how it actually stacks up to another pedal that is similar in quality. Thanks brother

You changed my mind with this demo. I love the full sound of the Catalinbread but the tone on those repeats shows me the Boonar is better. I can deal with an attack not so fat just to get that sweet repeat the Boonar gets. Hell, chain them both together and it would be a dream come true for echo

You can actually crank the input volume with an internal trimmer for more prominence. I'll be doing another shootout in the near future that'll better showcase doing this hopefully.

Great demo! My verdict: If you don't have a quality oil can delay you must get one. I own the Nemesis and love it. All of these have the unique characteristics required - each with its own personality. Preference is in the ear and wallet of the beholder. Looking forward to the multi-head demo. The Binson is not an oil can delay ... nor are any of these pedals ... nor are any of them trying or purporting to sound like one ... :P Having said that, the Catalinbread Adineko is hands-down the best oil can delay emulator ... and their Echorec and Belle Epoch (EP-3) emulators are both really great, too ...

Excellent demo. To my ears the echosex2 sounds more organic than the rest, however I still prefer the boonar overall

I’m holding out hope for a stereo Boonar. I think the Volante is the only stereo delay in the style of the Echorec.

Echosex is just a really dark, single head delay. I like the Boonar best.

Good Demo dude For me the echosex takes the cake, followed by the echorec, boonar is cool to and the nemesis is a piece of shit. I had it myself and sold it quickly. Really an overated pedal.

Well, I agree that the Nemesis is easily worst … but I prefer the Boonar, and the pedals made by Gurus’ ex-partner (the actual designer), then the Catalinbread and Volante come after those … imho

I know that the Boonar is the "most hip one" among pedl snobs (TPS etc, blaa blaaa) but the Echosex sounded best, most authentic. 🤷‍♂

Echosex is just darker than all the rest, I think. I like the Boonar best, overall. Echosex/Gurus had real qc and internal issues … the design partner has his own line of (much better, imho) echorec pedals
