Man, I just couldn't figure out how to effectively progress in the game as temperature modulation was a major issue in every single one of my colonies. But these videos are just a blast to my in-game knowledge! Thank you so much, bud!

Rime is probably my favourite start. It feels a bit cheesy when you can cool industry and power without even trying tho. I usually stop early game when I reach the oil biome and find it too is frozen. I don't want to dig it out and loose half the mass and I sort of loose the will to properly melt it in place so far away!

Just found your channel, lovely stuff! Can I suggest you use the temperature overlay when explaining the overall temperature of the base? It really helps having the visuals =)

Personally, I always send cooling loop pipes through floors. It's the tiles in the floors that hold most of the heat/chill, not the air.

Echo: I just realized this level is three tiles high. This is my nightmare. Me: At least it was your bottom level and not the one right under the printer with 9 finished floors beneath it like my colony yesterday.

On my (base game) Rime, the only place that had slimelung was an area that was kept warm by an abyssalite break next to a volcano-temperature obsidian blob.

It's worth looking at the other overlays from time to time.. Temperature to see where the heat and cold is, and germ to see where they are.

Noob question sorry: Can’t compost also help with heating? Not a lot but saves a little power, or are they just not worth it?
@EchoRidgeGaming
@EchoRidgeGaming 2 жыл бұрын
You typically wouldn’t want to compost where you are trying to heat, too many germs and polluted materials. So probably not worth it.

And yep. Rime is only hard until you get tepidisers.
@granularity2974
@granularity2974 3 жыл бұрын
I have a tip for anyone using tepidizers with power transformers. They need 2 small ones, not 1. They don't work with just one. Even tho the small transformer is rated 1k and the tepidizer is 960, if you put it behind 1 transformer you just get the 'no power' icon on the tepidizer. If you wire 2 small transformers together, it'll work fine and is still only at 960.

I don't know the program you are using for you RNG but most usually have the min and max as numbers that both roll. So your 1-4 rolls might roll a 4, if the one you are using doesn't you might be only rolling 2/3 if it only rolls between the numbers... like I said I don't know the exact program you are using, just my experience with most random number generators.
@EchoRidgeGaming

Windows Powershell. I use the command "Get-Random -minimum 1 -maximum 4" and it works like a charm. The max is not within the range.
@finsterfyrst
@finsterfyrst 2 жыл бұрын
@@EchoRidgeGaming a random number is always between 0 and near to 1, multiplied by maximum. Some generators repeat the same sequence everytime, so you should multiply with date or time to get a real random number. If i where you i would take the last digit of my clock, because it only takes a glimps to the wall instead of using the shell. to get one out of 3: 1-3 is 1, 4-6 is 2, 7-9 is 3 and 0 is none or your choice. By the way: I love your videos! Thank you for sharing this! Please excuse my bad english...

I had a lot of fun with ONI some months back but I took a break. I’m getting back into it but some of the more Mid-game and late-game stuff seems daunting to me so I wanted to watch a let’s play to learn some more. I’m liking the vids so far 😀

Running the pipe in the tiles also helps stabilise the temperature by buffering heat in the tile mass, and spreads that heat across the levels above and below more evenly. Trade off being it takes longer to get the initial warm up phase completed.
