There is *no* NOW - *_Now_* is a constant flow into the next _now_ - and you can, for a but a moment, an hour etc. potentially stop this flow & be in the NOW (which apparently you should not or need to do) ; and then, while you are at work or making love, you will command yourself, through habit/practice to be in this NOW with all that you are doing & flip the switch & return to becoming *consciousness* . . . how enchanting it is . . . NOT to be in the _form_ of your own identity, in the space of your existence - Really? This is a pastime, a hobby for people who have lost their capacity to be themselves and otherwise enjoy the few moments in our lives that are not filled with negative events (that are all around us) or overwhelmed by the sundry diversions that sit on the plate of our everyday lives - this "meditation" is merry-go-round intellectualism - dear me, how sweet Eckhart is . . .

Looking at the sky is great advice. I gaze at the sky all the time, often while also doing grounding. I ask mother earth to hold and heal my body, and father heaven to liberate my mind. Then I pray to Jesus, asking Him to look over my family and friends (sometimes someone special) and to liberate my heart from fear and anger. I live in Florida and we have "the big sky," and some of the grandest sunsets (and sunrises over the ocean), and I don't understand people who don't look up at the sky at least once a day,. I love it when there are clouds at many different altitudes. It enhances the feeling of the depths of all that space. I drink that beauty in like the spiritual nourishment it is. The same is true of staring intently at the ground, really focus in on the grass, flowers, insects, etc. It's very calming of the mind and nervous system. I like to switch between the two, that really increases the sense of the vastness of the Earth and sky..

Tolle *is* a teacher, if you care _not_ to consider that reality - a Guru *is* a guide, like the Sherpa who takes you to the top of a mountain & just as you have chosen to _climb_ , he cannot put you on his back & take you up up up - you have to do that yourself. Tolle is a Sherpa & since you don't need a teacher/guru, then what are you doing here - making mouth noises?

You know that’s not exactly something that some of us will stumble upon. It almost seems like you’re being critical of people for appreciating an individual for bringing out a topic to a larger audience. Some of us need to be taught and guided about this. There’s no way outside of therapy and slowly expanding outside of what I grew up with that I could of even considered these kinds of things. Just seems a bit condescending

The purpose of meditation is to enter presence, being. You are doing (thinking) all the time. You are not consciously being. Meditation shifts your attention from doing and thinking to being. You are more than a person. You are conscious presence without which there can be no person. Waves (person) cannot exist without the ocean (consciousness or God).🐞🐞🦋🦋🦋🌷🪰 It's an amazing realization for most people that they can easily access the state of presence by bring their attention into the present moment, now.🌿🌿🌿🌹🌹🐌🐌🐌 There are some pointers: There is peace. Surface person can never experience peace for long. Ripples cannot be peaceful.🐞🐞🦋🦋🌷🌷🌷 You are the universe experiencing itself by manifesting as a person. The universe is conscious of itself as a person, but not separate from the universe. Universe is in the process of becoming more conscious (evolutionary universe). Your life is part of evolutionary impulses towards greater consciousness. Consciousness has to flow into what you do. If not, life becomes frustrated and pointless.🌹🌹🌹🦋🦋🦋 Being aware that you are now consciousness, still, being. Without consciousness, you can't even think and feel now. This realization now should energize you, when you enter alert presence.🌿🌿🌿🐛🐛🐛🦋🦋 Align your life with that presence. Direct your attention to presence which supports you in life. Fear and anxiety then occur less frequently.🐞🐞🌷🌷🐌🐌🦋🦋 Look at the sky for a few seconds from time to time, alertness without thinking. This is being. The rest is doing. You need to balance being with doing.🌹🌹🌹🐌🐌🦋🦋🌷 Thanks Eckhart. 6 November 2022.

When we r observer of the mind isn't the mind obsering itself
@johngreen46832 жыл бұрын
Hi Amruth, I'd say no, because we and the mind are two very different things. The mind is working on memory and imagination 99.9% of the time, and without our attention becomes powerless until we listen to it and allow it a an opinion once more. Just my opinion of course 🙏🙏🙏🙏
@BulentBasaran2 жыл бұрын
I agree with John. We have a mind, an infinite and potent mind and as such it is easy and tempting to identify with it. But, such identification is the cause of suffering. A classic poet put it well: the mind is the best of the servants and is the worst of the masters. Eckhart's suggestion to observe the mind is one way to break the spell of identification and the end of suffering.

Towards the end I got an image of me as a child, maybe 2-3 years old, in my room playing with toys. I saw how I would engage and disengage with the toys. So sometimes I was just 'being' while other times I was doing. So for me, this approach mimics our natural pattern of living before we are inundated with more and more life events that seem to or legitimately need our attention - events some of us never take a break from. There can be so many life events that need attention we get out of the rhythm of engaging and disengaging as we did as children. I think it's important to recognize that some people were not lucky enough to experience that pattern due to traumatic childhoods, but this lesson can still be applied as it seems almost necessary to manage one's life no matter how it started out. It also makes me think of successful people and how they use their toys or hobbies to take breaks from constantly focusing on a given situation.

I was a bit surprised at the end of the meditation when he stated something to the effect, those that are just in "being" will just self-destruct. I get it on one level, but not on a different level. Is there more about Eckhart's other videos or readings that address what he is saying in his self-destruct comment? Could one say it is a "recycling" or "cleansing" or "absorbing" process within the Universe or the mi d og God; Or, since someone can't sense presence, they are not part of presence?

@Staci B To answer your question on how the book and practice Steps to Knowledge has impacted my life: My life has changed not only on the inside, but also on the outside. Shortly after beginning this practice for the second time, I knew where I needed to be, and to get there I had to leave my current, "ideal" life at the time. Once I drove across country, at the age of 52, and got to the right place, I found my true relationships and my true work. On the inside, there have been so many changes for the better. I have learned greater compassion in place of judgment, greater forgiveness-of others and of myself, a greater sense of who I really am and why I am here in the world at this time. I have become unburdened of so many things that weighed me down. And the list goes on. Thank you for asking, Staci.

Lea
