“The ego isn't wrong; it's just unconscious. When you observe the ego in yourself, you are beginning to go beyond it. Don't take the ego too seriously.” -ECKHART TOLLE 💜☀️🙏🏽
@urkoolUncle
@urkoolUncle 2 жыл бұрын
I see the ego as the 'velcro' that attaches one to matter and included a need to have an identity, a pile of experiences, an ability to quote others and a quest to be noticed (all in the realm of matter). Enlightenment is the absence of self, ego, experiences which is attained by 'non-being' in the material realm and 'Being' (as an innocent child, clean slate) in the non-sense Realm. It is akin to if you want to be joined to the Eternal, you must deny yourself and all accumulated experiences, identities, successes and failures that came from the matter realm. To be Spiritually Free is not about doing; it's about Being in the unseen Realm.

I’ve been listening to power of now and so many other things and I must truly be missing something because it’s confusing me something horrible and I need and want to learn. Been going through the dark night of the soul for two years now and I’m at the worst end of it and still don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I can focus. But at the moment I’ve giving up a lot of toxic addictions, as well as losing my mother and grandchildren and now my TF leaving and my son not talking to me. I feel like everyone’s being taken away from me . But I get angry when people are attacking me verbally, I mean full on at me and I eventually snap and go off and I don’t want to. I don’t want to be angry or sad. I just want to be happy and have this pain in my chest and head to go away.

The ego is a survival tool and wants to help us in dangerous situations. The problem is, that people are too often in fight or flight, so they activate the ego all the time. Normally you should be in a state of love and harmony most of the time and not in a ego-state of survival. So it´s up to the consciousness level of every human being, if they let the ego reign them or if they are in a place of love and peace.

Love it. The ego and Spirit can work together. Without ego, there would be no experiences. The ego says I’m right, Spirt looks at ego with such love and compassion as we would a three year old child digging his feet into the ground and then throwing a tantrum. Why does the child/ego do this, because it doesn’t know to get what it wants it doesn’t have to fight. It hasn’t matured enough. So how can we deal with our ego? We need to own our Truth, and from that aspect of ourselves, love the ego by giving it understanding, compassion and most of all love. That way the ego aspect will change, knowing you appreciate it, for helping you have experiences, you could NOT have Experiences without it. Wars are built on the premise I’m right you are wrong. If we could stop this happening within our own being, remember the only being, there’s only one, and give your ego aspect a self hug, for as long as it takes to feel the resistance turn into peace. This is how you become balanced, thank your ego aspect for everything it does for you. Driving your car, making lovely meals, cleaning your house, the list is endless and watch what happens. Your ego aspect feels loved, appreciated, needed and wanted, and when the Father son and holy Spirt come together as ONE, miracles happen. Please see this everyone don’t fight! Love instead. The World leaders are fighting because they think the other is wrong, like some are doing to the ego. World leaders are mirroring us! Make peace with you ego, it’s less than 7 years old, but it can mature if you hold its hand and lead it home to your heart.

Would you then describe the ego less as thoughtless people? Seems all a little bit theoretical to me. I want to be a thoughtful person. I love playing with ideas, sifting information, considering different opinions. Etc etc. Of course we must learn how to turn the noise off, when necessary. But you do whatever. . Repeating what others say is occasionally useful. But I’m so glad I’ve got a fully functioning organic computer.

Be wary of positive affirmations. Implicit in making them is a sense of lack, otherwise there’d be no need to make such statements. That is to say that they are often a subconscious attempt to hypnotize the self into behaving in a way in alignment with the affirmations; yet the very need to “hypnotize the self” itself brings in the action of will and therefore strengthens and reinforces the ego in a subtle way

Even though I've read several of Eckhart's books, and I listen to his teachings on here, and those of others like Alan Watts, Ram Dass, etc, I still have to come back every once in a while to re-center myself and get my ego under control. It's a constant battle and when I notice myself behaving in unconscious ways, I come back and things get better.

One of my big problems with the ego, is needless spending and buying. If I'm feeling down, I tend to look for something outside of myself that will make me feel better. At least I'm aware of it now, and I can usually resist the temptation, because those things never make you feel good for long. Then you feel worse for not saving or investing, and your house is full of things you don't really need. This is a process and I'm a few years into it, but at least I'm more conscious of how my ego tries to feel satisfied and I can say no to it.
@chrismccaffrey8256
@chrismccaffrey8256 Жыл бұрын
Eckhart teachiles NOT to resist, as that is simply suppression and keeps it as an unconscious thing. Simply bring presence to it. The biggest sources of unconsciousness and addiction hold the MOST light of consciousness hostage. We must observe it and "be" aware of it and in the moments where we can step into it, even with only a split second of awareness of it happeneing before going into identification with jt, is enough to start awakening that sleeping part of your consciousness. With time and repetition, your presence burns it up bit by bit and becomes free of it. Don't push your vices away, bring them into your light of awareness. Thats WHY youre a few years into it, rather than having already freed your being

The Ego is one of the most important components in human evolution, especially social evolution. We have egos for information transition, that's the point of it. If we didn't have an ego we'd have no reason or rhyme to pass on information to others, that is outside of immediate reciprocal benefits. Teaching your tribe to make fire is immediate and reciprocal; telling someone why WW1 started is not, or it is to a very tiny degree in a holistic understanding. The Ego is essential, making sure it doesn't effect you to your determent is what you should teach.

You need an ego. Anyone who tries to suppress the ego ends up with an ego which thinks it’s not an ego, but is actually much stronger and stubborn. The only way we transcend the need for ego is if we become like the Buddha or we pass on from the material world. A good healthy Ego, based on the righteous virtues of love, forgiveness, compassion and selflessness is the balance which is the purpose of this era of the Human.

It's not about suppressing the ego it's about letting it pass. So it doesn't run your life. As with anxiety or any addiction you can overcome it. Addict's still think about using but know they are able to go on without it. Same with ego. It's still there but quiet , not muted but not over taking your mind

Actually, we are to possess the ego. This is done by the discipline of thought capture which makes the ego accountable for itself so that we are complete…lacking nothing. It’s a type of mutual submission…. All things are profitable….especially the ego. We don’t run, deny, or substitute for things because they are potentially destructive. We Identify, possess, and bring into submission all things for the purpose of making them profitable.

It never existed actually. The ego just appears and disapears and it is witnessed by somthing. But the “ego” is just imagination about some character that is taken to be real. Theres only ever imagination happening in that which cannot be described.

@@lilbenny2243 you are spot on, all our automatic thoughts are based on memory and imagination. Our automatic mind has the same access to our memories as us and the same ability to use our imagination as us the only difference is our automatic non us mind is so much faster than us so tends to be dominant 99% the time. Being aware of our automatic mind and understanding how it operates gives us freedom and independence from it.

Nasty ego or no nasty ego, that doesn't help in any way for some of the parents I encounter whose children are completely physically deformed or seriously mentally sick. Life is just one long nightmare for them.

I can relate to the shopping. Although I wasn't buying tech toys for showing off, I did it because to keep me busy while I had lonely time. Of course all new toys were well researched if they will suite my vision, and that development new skills in me which I am thankful of. 🙏. I didn't care of others will wow me for what I posses and buy, but buy them out of curiosity 😊. Same is with cars. I have 3 cars - 2 very cheap and one very expensive. I bought the expensive one with almost all possible features that I need. Well researched what features I'll need, when I am going to use a d which features are just to show off (those that are not functional and doesn't bring value to me 🙂). But because of the investment for this car, I start feeling very protective, worrying and it turns out that I serve and worry for that car so much, that it made me disliking of driving it. Constant worry, not to hit me, not to scratch, not to steal it, etc. I want and will sell it soon. That's why my very cheap cars suite me best, I don't care for them and is relax to drive 😌 ☺

@Wanderers If i got up in the morning and mycar is gone, i would like many other people feel gutted , as it means you can't get to work , as no regular public transport and if you have no money to buy another you lose your job, can't pay the bills , and end up homeless .
