I have one nozzle on the frothing wand blocked - are you able to remove the end of the nozzle to clean?
@clivecoffee2 жыл бұрын
Yep! - You should be able to unscrew the nozzle. If it doesn't come off easy, then try using a microfiber towel and a wrench to remove it.

ok so after steaming turn off steam switch and purge steam wand and keep portafilter in there to purge like 20 seconds (until water running). then ready for next shot?
@clivecoffee6 ай бұрын
sure thing!

thanks! ok wait. i just rewatched the video… to switch from steam back to espresso. pull steam wand and brew switch until water is running freely. then ready for espresso again?
@clivecoffee5 ай бұрын
@@danielleramos9686 You can simply switch out of steam mode and lift the brew lever up all the way until water comes through the grouphead as well.

What kind of water treatment / filtration does this machine require. Is a Brita filter good enough?

Does a rotary pump provide a more even and consistent water flow than a vibration pump or is it just quieter?

Yes, to both.

when switching from espresso to steam mode how long do i purge my steam wand? i’ve watched a few videos and they are different. one said 5 second purge and 20 seconds waiting repeat 3 times. others say 5 seconds purge. is it just the 3 times for first use or every use? thanks
@clivecoffee5 ай бұрын
you're ready to steam once you purge water and the steam wand begins to make steam!

How do you turn on the shot timer. Mine doesn’t display when pulling a shot.

It definitely should! This is something we may be able to help troubleshoot! Please reach out to our team at support@clivecoffee.com

Is there really no vacuum breaker on the boiler?
@clivecoffee Жыл бұрын
Correct. This is because the Classika, and other single-boiler machines like it do not have a dedicated steam boiler.

Does steaming affect the temperature of the water in the thermosyphon?

What would happen if i just steam milk on the same temperature i brew espresso? I’m hoping it would saves me the time to temp heat up

Please let me know what exactly the pump switch is used for?
@clivecoffee3 жыл бұрын
The pump switch is used to fill the boilers. Turn this on when switching between steam mode and brew mode to refill.
@JakeBarnes12 Жыл бұрын
@@clivecoffee But Tim in the video (Tip 4) advises NOT to use the pump switch when switching between steam and brew mode because water or air may be trapped in the line. Instead his tip is simply to open the group head and steam wand until water flows through both, indicating that the boiler is refilled.

After completing the espresso, how long do you have to wait for the boiler to get to steam temperature please?
@clivecoffee3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Switching from brewing to steaming mode takes about a minute in total. Let us know if there's anything else we can help with!

30secs.

Why does this machine power off (abruptly so) when the water refill tank is below a certain level whilst the boiler is basically full? Is the boiler only for steaming and irrelevant in case you draws Espressi only?
@knipsi227 ай бұрын
It's protecting the pump from running dry. Boiler is for both Espresso and steam

Does anyone have any issue with the steam wand dripping water? Even when I have the PID up to temp at 138 Celsius in steam mode, the steam is still pretty wet and the wand drips a fair bit.
@clivecoffee Жыл бұрын
The steam on the Classika is generally pretty wet, so this makes sense. The boiler has a limited capacity in which to create steam.
@Michelsen3K Жыл бұрын
Yeah i confirm it takes some time until dry steam is availabe.

Would you be able 2 do some pre-infusion on this machine, if you do, 4 how long???
@clivecoffee6 жыл бұрын
Hey Roel, the Classika isn't capable of pre-infusion. In order to pre-infuse, the E61 group head on the Classika requires water line pressure. Since it runs on an internal reservoir there is no line pressure. If you have any other questions let us know!

what temperature should milk be steamed at?
@clivecoffee5 жыл бұрын
In large part it comes down to personal preference but generally, anywhere between 120°F and 160°F is acceptable. Above 160°F you start to run the risk of "burning" the milk which will result in negative flavors. - Charles
